Since updated to Lion I have found that Save As in Edit is no longer available. Screen shots and certain other images and docs I need to Save As jpegs in order to use in Photoshop. I cannot name docs form the drop down menu but instead have to close and rename it in the label on my desktop. The only option is Save a Version but when I do this I have no idea if and where the image is going as it does not show up on my desktop. Why is this feature of Save As removed? Some image files cannot be opened by PS unles in specific fomat and the word document issue is just annoying as it adds additonal steps to naming.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I edit an image I have on my desktop with the Preview app and then save it, everything works fine.If I edit that same image with Photoshop CS6, save it (same or copy) on the desktop, and then try for example to resize or crop it with the Preview app, it won't work. It says it can't autosave because I don't have the right permissions or something like that... I already tried to repair them. I use the latest version of Lion. I also tried to do the same thing on Snow Leopard and it works fine.

I am suddenly no longer able to save pdf formatted documents in Preview using Lion 10.7.3. The content is a single page consisting of 4 combined pdf images. I get a "Printer Error" message. It had been working up until now. I restarted Preview and then restarted my system, but this problem did not go away. Is there some way of replacing/updating the save to pdf function or Preview without a total OS update?

After install of Lion I noticed that Preview no longer allows me to Save As an image. I work in Photoshop and cannot open the images that I scan with Preview. PS will not recognize them. I used to be able to open the Preview image and Save As TIFF, JPEG etc but that option no longer exists...and I am with unusable images.

Preview 5.5.1 running on a new MacBook Air. I created a couple of signatures and was using them fine for a couple of weeks. Suddenly the saved sigs are no longer available, and new ones are not being saved. I click 'accept' in the create new signature popup, then the popup dissappears and the sig is not saved.Â

When I open a photo with Preview, it opens all the photos I have viewed previously. How can I prevent that, other than manually clearing the list after each time?

Using Lion, I have tried to re-size an image using Preview and every time I try to save my edited image it tells me I do not have permission to save this/the file is locked when I have full permissions to do so and the file is NOT locked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I right click to save a picture online, it doesn't give me the opportunity to save something as a JPEG. I instead have to save it as a preview and then export it to JPEG. This seems like something relatively new.

I am looking for a good photo viewer for Mac. Windows has tons of free viewers that lets you rotate or crop while you browse thru your photo. I am looking for something that when I click on a photo in Finder, I can easily rotate it zoom in
View 24 Replies View RelatedSome time ago I learned of a technique to insert text (caption) into the body of a photo. I am pretty sure it used Preview, but I cannot get any further than that. Can someone guide me through that again?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI was writing a form (.pdf document) in Preview today. When going to try to quit (apple + q) the printer proxy, I accidentally quit Preview. I guess whoever created the document set it to read only, so I could not save (I'm a bit stupid, should have worked in word). Is there anyway I could retrieve the document? I doubt so, but that is why I am coming to you guys.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is probably fixed in Leopard, but I still run Tiger so I was hoping someone could point me towards an alternative to Preview? I hate the fact that I open a folder containing pictures (which aren't imported to iPhoto), and i have to select all the photos in order for them to be viewable in the same window in Preview. I know I know, im lazy, but seriously, you don't need to have that extra step in order to be able to scroll through the pictures. On Windows you just double click the picture and then all you have to do is click left or right to view the next photo in the folder. Is there any program strictly for viewing photos like preview?

How to save my photo on iCloud...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI scanned a few images and saved them on my mac. Some of them were upside down so I fixed them up, saved them and sent them to my ipod touch. When I view the pictures on the ipod i still see them upside down. Formatted JPEG.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just tried to rotate a picture a friend sent me, and it rotates. but when i save it and quit out of preview and then open it in preview again it's not rotated! I even tried "Save As..." and tried saving it as a TIFF instead of a JPG.
BUT if i take a screenshot and try to rotate that preview saves the rotation just fine! So what's going on??
I'm running the latest version of Tiger on my Powerbook G4
I am a recent convert to the Mac. I have not found it an easy transition: not by any means. Absolutely love the iPhone and my iPad - but the MacBook Pro has been a huge disappointment. It is in serious danger of becoming nothing more than just a nice thing to look at. I am really struggling to get to grips with what are much more than just nuances over Windows. My latest problem concerns .pdf's opened in Preview.
I am sure that, initially, I had no problem with "saving a version" - now, all of a sudden it says that: "... could not be saved. You don't have permission." It tells me to find the document in Finder, and then look in "get info" - I do that. I have Read and Write permissions. I have unlocked the document, I have given "others" read/write permissions - I have tried everything, but still no joy.

I have downloaded loads of new effects for photo booth and then was looking for some more and the single qtz files which are placed in the Library/Compositions folder show up as a grey screen (see attachment) in the preview but are fine when you click on them. So does anyone know how I can get the preview of these to show up, or even to paste a picture in the box?! Also, does anyone know where I can download some single qtz files to add to photo booth as well?

I'm trying to clean up my projects and organize them better, but I'm stuck because I have mistakenly gathered unrelated photos into too many projects. I just want to move a photo from one project to another, but I'm not getting how to do it. I've been able to merge projects which has worked a lot, but some photos just don't belong in the projects they are in. Is there some simple thing I'm missing?

Having an issue where Preview is crashing at the end of a Save As (hangs briefly when the progress bar is full, then crashes) -- happens pretty consistently. Running 10.6.1 (on top of a fresh 10.6 install), but happened in 10.6 as well, though perhaps not as often. Have plenty of memory.
One snippet of the crash report:
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
I have a vague feeling that the issue might not be in Preview, per se, but in the OS.
I have pdf files I need to save, and the "save as" window drops down directly over the top of the page. Many times the pdf is scanned documents with titles, authors, and publication dates and journal names at the top of the first page. Therefore it is difficult (even though the drop down is opaque) to transcribe the article name into the save file as window, because that information is at the top of the page. I cannot scroll down in the document to have the information visible as it is typically page 1, and I cannot move the save as window over so I can see the file name I want to enter. I have to write the title down on a piece of paper then click save as then type the words in from the paper, even though the title I want to use is under the drop down.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a work around how can preview save a locked JPG file? PNG's can do a save as in preview even if is locked.Â
here is the error below.Â
the reason why i want to find out is because outlook saves their attachment files locked and if i open them in preview, i cannot do a save as on JPGs.Â
i have not tried any other image viewer to automatically open the attachments and save them. PNG attachements behave alright so why can't JPGs?
I have come across a problem where my default directory in Preview 4.2 won't change when I go to Save As.. Is there a way to change this default directory?
