OS X V10.7 Lion :: Ord Or Preview Selecting "print" It Does Not Appear?
May 31, 2012
Anyboby can suggest how recover the printer ? Independently from Word or Preview selecting "print" it does not appear anymore the "window" with the option print, etc,,
for any reason preview does not print to printers!Converting into pdf is not an issue, it works fine. But printing to printers does not work. No matter what type of file. And I do not know since when it is not printing.Â
PDF file i am trying to print is proteced against edits only. Printing is allowed. "Preview" is opening the file, and i can view it on screen, but when trying to print it, i am asked to enter a password.Other programs (Adobe reader, Foxit PDF, etc) are opening and printing it without any password prompts. Is there anything that can be done with it? Or just stick to other software?
First, I'm a noob on MACs so forgive the nooby nature of the question.
I'm setting up a printer on a Macbook to use a printer shared from Windows 7. Followed the tutorials I found for the network side of things and that seems to be fine (Mac send unprintable files to the Windows print queue).
The problem is the print driver on the Mac. The printer is a HP PSC 1315. It's not on the list when you Select Drivers during printer setup and even after loading the HP 111 updated, still no joy.
I downloaded the 1315-specific driver package and ran the installation but I have no idea how to find the driver to use during printer setup.
This button allowed (in Snow Leopard and even in Tiger) to see the final page full size, or even to save as a PDF file. This functionality is sadly missing on my computer since I have upgraded to LION, making me regret the move. Is there some pref somewhere that I should adjust, or just plainly forget about it. ? When I print, the dialog window does NOT show the Preview button anymore.
I am having issues printing documents I am viewing in Preview. When I press (command P) the File button highlights briefly, but then the print screen does not come up.However, on occasion, it has worked.I have all software up to date and have tried restarting the computer and closing all software.Every other program prints just fine, (for instance, in mail, I can press Command P and it will bring up the print screen as usual).
I have updated my system to OS X Maverick and have lost the ability to "print preview" my files before saving. I frequently save files as jpeg files, as well as pdf. I have found that many of our flyers print better when saved as a jpeg but since the print preview option has been eliminated, I cannot save anything as a jpeg.

When I was using Leopard and I hit "Print" I'd click the Preview button on the bottom left and Apple's "Preview.app" would open the document to be printed (with a Cancel & Print button at the bottom of the dialog box). Now in Snow Leopard, when I choose to see the finished product before I print, I click on "Preview" and Adobe Acrobat opens the item I want to print (which does not have a Cancel or Print button available).800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OS X (10.6.1)
I've been disappointed that the preview in the Leopard print dialog does not update if you select to have multiple pages per sheet. I often do this to conserve paper when I'm printing lecture notes. With Leopard, I'm often doing this blind and get things out of order. Has anyone got this to work? I seem to think that one of programs--either preview or Acrobat--provided this functionality in Tiger.
i am constantly having a problem when i try and print a smallish image with Preview /automatically/ checking the Scale to Fit Paper Size and when i /uncheck/ this by clicking in the "Scale" radio button it /automatically/ enters the percent scale factor that would be required if I wanted to scale to fit to paper (e.g. 184%). Since I /don't/ want this scale (I already unchecked this option) I MANUALLY enter "100" in this box and - well - it prints out scale to fit to paper size /anyway/. i am using the Print Selected Image but the Print option behaves in the same way. Also, Auto Rotate (which defaults to AutoRotate with no option - "bad Preview, bad") has no effect on this. i have taken to pulling down to four or nine images to a page in order to get my images printed smaller, even though they never print out at 100%.Â
Is it possible to set a preview (PDF) document to print only a certain number of copies after which it would then become locked (password protected)? Â

Running 10.10 and I'm getting all blank pages when I print through the system or say Preview. Brother MFC-4710, upgraded firmware and downloaded new drivers. What is weird though is if I open a PDF from Chrome and printer directly from Chrome, it prints fine.Â
I've tried it on two laptops and both have the problem.
Below is the error message I have been getting when trying to print a pdf from preview. This happens every time. I never had this issue before upgrading to 10.9.3.Â
I didn't delete permanently but they are in my trash bin and this has not worked. It definitely seems like there is some compatability issue from my old operating system occurring here but im not sure how to fix this.Â

As the title says, I just can't get Preview.app to print a 33 page PDF using 2 pages per sheet in the correct order. It will print two pages per sheet of paper, but page 1 will come on the right, 2 on the left, 3 on the right, etc. I tried every possible combination in the "Layout" menu to no avail.
When I try to print something from the internet, the entire print window doesn't show up. For instance, I can see the print button, cancel button, and how many pages it is. I can only see about an inch of the preview.
I have a folder called 'text books' and within that folder I have 100 more folders named by author. Inside the folders are .txt files of their work. Is there any way I can select all the .txt docs and paste them in one big folder? In other words, is there a way of removing all the sub-folders and putting all the .txt files together in one place?Â

My system has been reinstalled six times because I keep getting panic attacks when ever I browse a drive and select the icon view and also when I selct my pictures folder on the left side of the main screen. It only happens when I do those things.Â
I have a Mac Pro Mid 2010 with 24Gig Ram a ATI Radeon HD 5870 480GB SSD main drive running Lion 10.7.3 (11D50)
I had done a full check up and there is no problem with the systems hardware ie.. Ram.Â

The CPU process has snowballed to the point that selecting a finder window is unreasonable . Safari is slow to absurdity , after emptying caches . Firefox & Camino are usable , so wildly better . I have rebooted , rebooted fsck - fy , rebooted CMD r , executed permission and file checks , repairs with no stated repairs or issues
I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer! Â
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.Â
In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?
I'm sure I changed some setting somewhere, but this is a bit annoying. Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? I'm forced then to remove the link it adds to my iTunes library after every preview.
When I opened a file from a school presentation I went to download it off my Mac. The task bar on the Preview screen says locked and I can't do anything with preview or close it. How do I unlock Preview!
OS X Lion Preview always crashes when read PDF in full screen mode (preview app full screen mode is mandatory to crash) then right click on any word in PDF and in context menu select "Look up in dictionary", then click on word Dictionary or Thesaurus to open Dictionary in it's own app's window. Preview crashes in 100 % cases. OS Lion 10.7.3
All of a sudden, I can't open/use the Preview app. I was going to pull the plist but I can't find any. In the process, I don't see a Library for the individual users.
