Jun 17, 2014Below is the error message I have been getting when trying to print a pdf from preview. This happens every time. I never had this issue before upgrading to 10.9.3.
I attempted deleting from my library:
com.apple.preview
come.apple.preview.lssharedfilelist.plist
com.apple.preview.savedstate
I didn't delete permanently but they are in my trash bin and this has not worked. It definitely seems like there is some compatability issue from my old operating system occurring here but im not sure how to fix this.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Preview App Freezing While Scanning?
May 21, 2012Recently, I have been having difficulty with Preview 5.5.2 freezing while scanning from an HP Officejet 6500. I have been using the same arrangement (iMac, HP Printer, internet connection, etc.) for about 5 months with no problems. I scan documents for archiving, but in the past week, or so, when I try to open the scanner (printer) within the Preview App (file-->Import From Scanner-->HP OfficeJet 6500) the import window pops open, but I cannot select scanning details. Usually, I would do this by clicking the "Overview" button. Now, when I click the "Overview" button, I get a blank import screen. Through reviewing the various online resources, I have done the following:
- Library (get info) - In the Library Info window (right click...get info) all the users are set to "Read & Write".
- Library (containers) - I trashed all the contents of the "com.apple.Preview" and "com.apple.TextEdit" folders within the "Containers" folder. Upon reboot, no noticable change, although the information in the folder was reloaded.
- Library (preferences) - Trashed the Preview preferences, rebooted, then tried to scan again. When I launched Preview, I was able to see the "Overview" details and select scan, but the scan froze on page 3 out of a 10 page doc.

Jun 7, 2012I'm running a new iMac with OS X Lion 10.7.4. Whenever I open the application Preview, it goes to fullscreen and stops responding (presenting the rainbow wheel) for a number of minutes. This happens everytime the scanner scans a file and opens in on Preview, and oftentimes when the application is opened normally. It takes about 5-10 minutes for it to begin responding after opening it. I know Preview is a relatively lightweight application

Nov 11, 2009I am currently working with very large files(mostly HD video. 3GB and more). When selecting a file, the finder try's to preview it and freezes. This means that every time I select a file, I have to wait several minutes until the file is cashed and I can continu working.
Can I prevent the finder from previewing large files?
OS X Mavericks :: All Applications Are Freezing On Print
Sep 8, 2014I get as far as File -> Print and get nothing but the spinning ball. This is happening in Pages, Numbers, and Mail -- the only three programs I've tried to print out of this morning. This is happening on just one computer. I can print the same files to the same printers from a different computer, so that should rule out file and printer problems.
I was able to print without problems over the weekend. I updated software on this computer last night, but I think it was only updates to programs like Pages, Numbers, and Safari, not operating system updates. I know Mail did not have an update. I did not have to reboot after updating. In addition, I've been having problems with Time Machine being stuck in Preparing status. I'm just reporting that in case it happens to be related, though I don't see how it would be. Because of the Time Machine problems, I shut down the machine last night after the updates, unplugged the Time Machine, plugged the Time Machine back in after waiting 10-15 seconds, and turned the computer back on.

Apr 17, 2012I am having issues printing documents I am viewing in Preview.When I press (command P) the File button highlights briefly, but then the print screen does not come up.However, on occasion, it has worked.I have all software up to date and have tried restarting the computer and closing all software.Every other program prints just fine, (for instance, in mail, I can press Command P and it will bring up the print screen as usual).

Aug 30, 2014I have updated my system to OS X Maverick and have lost the ability to "print preview" my files before saving. I frequently save files as jpeg files, as well as pdf. I have found that many of our flyers print better when saved as a jpeg but since the print preview option has been eliminated, I cannot save anything as a jpeg.

I often do this to conserve paper when I'm printing lecture notes. With Leopard, I'm often doing this blind and get things out of order. Has anyone got this to work? I seem to think that one of programs--either preview or Acrobat--provided this functionality in Tiger.

Feb 29, 2012i am constantly having a problem when i try and print a smallish image with Preview /automatically/ checking the Scale to Fit Paper Size and when i /uncheck/ this by clicking in the "Scale" radio button it /automatically/ enters the percent scale factor that would be required if I wanted to scale to fit to paper (e.g. 184%). Since I /don't/ want this scale (I already unchecked this option) I MANUALLY enter "100" in this box and - well - it prints out scale to fit to paper size /anyway/. i am using the Print Selected Image but the Print option behaves in the same way. Also, Auto Rotate (which defaults to AutoRotate with no option - "bad Preview, bad") has no effect on this. i have taken to pulling down to four or nine images to a page in order to get my images printed smaller, even though they never print out at 100%.

Dec 1, 2014Running 10.10 and I'm getting all blank pages when I print through the system or say Preview. Brother MFC-4710, upgraded firmware and downloaded new drivers. What is weird though is if I open a PDF from Chrome and printer directly from Chrome, it prints fine.
I've tried it on two laptops and both have the problem.

It will print two pages per sheet of paper, but page 1 will come on the right, 2 on the left, 3 on the right, etc. I tried every possible combination in the "Layout" menu to no avail.

Feb 15, 2012This button allowed (in Snow Leopard and even in Tiger) to see the final page full size, or even to save as a PDF file. This functionality is sadly missing on my computer since I have upgraded to LION, making me regret the move. Is there some pref somewhere that I should adjust, or just plainly forget about it. ? When I print, the dialog window does NOT show the Preview button anymore.

Jun 28, 2014I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.

Dec 6, 2010I have had difficulty in attaching my HP Photosmart C5580 printer to my new MacBookPro (OSX 10.6) through my Netgear WGPS606 print server. After much searching I found previous posts here which advised me to add the Gutenprint driver 5.2.6 which I did. That finally DID successfully attach the printer through the server.
However, there is a lag of many seconds (sometimes minutes) between the SEND command and the starting of the printer. Is this the new normal that I need to expect or is there a fix?

May 10, 2009In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

But I also have Columns B-L and rows A-X with nothing in their cells, but when I print it, they won't print.I need these blank because I'll check them off if the child in the first column attended the lesson. How do I make it so my many blank cells will print as well?
