View 3 RepliesMy Mail program is constantly quitting. I can not figure out a pattern. Also, it is not downloading all my messages. I will have messages on my iPad and iPhone that do not download in Mail, and yes, I have checked the Junk file. They are not there.

Every time I want to shut down my late 2011 MacBook Pro, Mac Mail cancels the shut down & I have to force quit mail. I was having this problem on my old 2008 MacBook before I upgraded to the Pro (but it only started after I upgraded to Lion OSX). So what's wrong w/ Mac Mail? And is there some setting I can change? This is an annoying time suck.Â

For some time now mail.app takes over 3 minutes to quit. Whenever I try to shut down my iMac the shutdown is aborted because mail.app has not closed so I have to wait until mail.app closes and then shut down.

My Mail app will not open, and now when I need to update my mac, it won't because it says the mail app "cancelled restart". Mail app will not open nor close. When I click on "Mail" at the top bar, the "quit" option is in light grey (not clickable). Mail is still accessable on my phone. Is there a way to delte the app all together (with out having to take it in) and re download.

I'm tired of Mac Mail continued to quit with me, on and off. It's annoying. It's been going on for two months now and Apple haven't fixed it. The last time I reported it here with the diagnostic report, I didn't get any new replies back to fix this ongoing concurring problem, except for the first one. After two weeks or so, it returned. I know my diagnostic reports will be the same, every time it crashes. I can't even trash the bundled folder, since it's not listed. I didn't have this kind of problem on my old Imac years ago, when I've had my MacBook Pro for almost two years now.

My Mail has worked since the beginning, but yesterday it stopped fetching incoming mails. I can send mails, but not receive! The clock keeps on spinning and says "fetching new mail" My server ports is set to 25 and 110 as default. When I try to quit Mail, it dosen't. I have to force-quit Mail to close it.

If I go to the Finder from another application, the Finder quits and windows disappear. If I select "new finder window" finder repeatedly quits. After 10 or fifteen times (usually I just restart) I can get the finder window to stay open.
Using Safari and selecting a file to upload causes Safari to quit. Firefox works fine.
I have done a clean install. Problems persist intermittently.
Any advice on how I can fix this?
I just moved from windows to apple and when I opened mail and set my yahoo account in it, the application downloads all my messages {about 1200} and so far all is ok. But as soon as I click on one of these messages or any RSS, the application quits and I get " mail application quit unexpectedly" msg.

I tried deleting the mail account them re-adding it, it still rejects my password. View 3 Replies View RelatedMail is running in the background, but it won't quit or open. I need to reboot (i.e. hold down start for 10 seconds) to restart. Other applications are also very slow to respond during this, incl. Safari. I'm on a Late 2007 Macbook running 10.6.2, which I updated yesterday.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just set up my new iMac, migrated everything from my MacBook Pro, and everything works EXCEPT Mail. I have configured my MobileMe settings to synch everything, and online, everything is there: contacts, all old email, etc... but Mail doesn't show any of this stuff, nor will it retrieve or synch any of my email accounts. Also, I have to Force Quit it everytime to exit the program.
Could this be something with the Preferences file, or .plist file?
Last week, my MS Entourage quit getting my me.com mail. It gives me a Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods. error message. It was working fine and suddenly quit. I can access my mail by going to icloud as well as on my ipad, but not on my iMac using MS Entourage. When I set up a new account and have it "Verify My Settings," I get a "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" (-17900 ), yet its the same user name and password used on the ipad and icloud.com logon. My iMac operating system is 10.7.3 and Entourage is 12.3.2

I am trying to do a regular update to my MacBook, it tells me I need to quit Mail before I can do it. So I close it and quit it but the little dot that says its still there won't go. I keep telling it to quit which it won't and the computer won't shut down because mail won't let it.
Also I can even open Mail now and it won't go in to its normal sleep mode. What do I do?

I got my new Office Mac, and I was hoping to install it. It said Firefox and Safari needed to close. Firefox was a snap (good job guys!), but Safari is doing HORRIBLE. It is not forcing to quit at all, and I don't want to restart or shut down (I bet it wouldn't work.) Now, according to THIS issue... I can't install my Mac Office 2011, and THAT on the other hand stinks, because I need it for school projects.

I have installed Adobe CS5 Master Collection on my MacBook Alu (late 2008) and it's works fine on 10.5.8 then I updated to 10.6 -- still works fine, until I updated to 10.7, it quit unexpectedly. I searched on the internet and I found that I must clean-install the OS X, so I do it. Then I install Adobe CS5 again and everything works fine until I updated to 10.7.3Â After I updated my MacBook to 10.7.3 I have set the system language to Thai, and didn't do anything other. I searched on the internet and found that I must Repair Disk Permission so I do it, and nothing happen, problem still occurs.Â
