My Mail program is constantly quitting. I can not figure out a pattern. Also, it is not downloading all my messages. I will have messages on my iPad and iPhone that do not download in Mail, and yes, I have checked the Junk file. They are not there.

Got my new MacBook Pro - I'm used to Mac as I have had iMac & the smaller MacBook for about 6 years so fairly user savvy, but have never come across the problem I have at the moment. Set up my mail accounts - received and sent mails, but the whole time the little gearwheel is running on the sent box. Is this normal - I've never had it before unless I've actually been sending and at the moment I'm not.

I rarely check my sent mail but today i did that and i noticed that almost any sent message i check, it loads it for about 10 seconds. I select a message and on the right there is written: Loading... and if i check the mail activity, it says Downloading message. That happens with almost every sent message i have in the sent folder. I have a fast internet connection and it loads just in 1 sec from gmail online mail. So why the ****Â mail.app downloads it for 10 seconds? And they are only text messages. And the strange thing that after i read the message and back to inbox, than go again into sent folder and select the same sent message, it loads again. Shouldn't they be on my HD?

Mail goes through periods where it constantly requests my password. At times it appears that the server accepts the password but comes back later in the day and asks again. Other times it appears not to accept my password and continually requests the password.

View 8 Replies View RelatedEvery time I want to shut down my late 2011 MacBook Pro, Mac Mail cancels the shut down & I have to force quit mail. I was having this problem on my old 2008 MacBook before I upgraded to the Pro (but it only started after I upgraded to Lion OSX). So what's wrong w/ Mac Mail? And is there some setting I can change? This is an annoying time suck.Â

For some time now mail.app takes over 3 minutes to quit. Whenever I try to shut down my iMac the shutdown is aborted because mail.app has not closed so I have to wait until mail.app closes and then shut down.

So I upgraded to 10.5.6, and then after reboot mail kept on bugging me for the password of an old account that I had set up a while back that is now disabled. I set the account to disabled and before 10.5.6 mail never bothered me about it, but in 10.5.6, no matter how many times I would hit "Cancel", it wouldn't do anything. So I just went in and deleted the account, then mail said that I have 247 unread messages in my mailbox(I set the total to be all mailboxes combined). However, in all the available mailboxes I have none. I have went through all the preferences files, even tried deleting the preference file and nothing worked.

All **** broke loose, ended up starting from scratch. Have done now 10 times.
Everything seems to be working fine, i'm getting emails through etc. But, next to my Gmail mailbox is the constant loading circle; either the Pie or the Spinning spokes thing.
The loading circles change every time i open Mail, although they are CONSTANTLY there and won't budge -

What does this mean? Im so frustrated because i had Mail up and running fantastically before the attachment mishap, now its refusing to go my way. It functions fine from what i can tell, just the loading circle (both instances) is getting on my nerves!
Just moved to a Mac Mini.
Setup Mail.app as usual with a couple different email accounts.
Now, every time I open Mail it appears to download all my mail again (see pic). It takes a long time and mail isn't really that responsive.
Nothing on my server has changed.
My Mail constantly crashes after a few minutes as of the last few weeks. I launch it, leave it in background and get the "unexpected exit" error. I've embedded the error log at the bottom of this message. Basically other than that, ive tried moving ~/Library/Mail across to a temp folder, launching mail and then closing it and moving back my mail folder back and still get the error. Checked that i dont have any to-do list items in my iCal and yeah. still get this error.

Trying to figure out why it is that I have to constantly enter my password for my Mail accounts when sending and receiving. It's not consistent. All passwords are part of my keychain so I don't get it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been unable to use Mail for over a year now due to the fact that no matter what I do it asks me for my Gmail password every two minutes. I thought I would give it a try after upgrading to Yosemite Beta and I see it is still the same situation. Hard to believe that after YEARS of this known issue there is still no fix. Mail is unusable in this state and it forces me to us ***whisper*** Outlook ***gag***. Â
At least on Mavericks I could use Google Chat in Messages but that functionality is broken now in Yosemite. Â
I have deleted every Google related item in my keychain, deleted and reinstalled the account, said really nice things to my mac and it still won't cooperate. Now when I try to add the account In Yosemite it will only connect with Contacts and Calendar and can't even make the connection with Mail, Messages or Notes. Â
Strange because my Google Drive sync works just fine!Â
I recently did the mobileme to icloud swtich to keep my me.com email.Since Snow Leopard doesn't have an iCloud option and the MobileMe account option no longer works, I had to switch to create a new IMAP account with all of iCloud's server info.Ever since, the mac mail.app has been downloading messages practically non-stop.Every few minutes it will download 5000+ messages and growl notifications will fill up my screen. My mail folder is currently at 20gb and growing. I know there isn't that much mail data on the server as I originally had my mobileme limit set much lower. I tried deleting the account and creating a new one again, however it still happens.Â

My Mail app will not open, and now when I need to update my mac, it won't because it says the mail app "cancelled restart". Mail app will not open nor close. When I click on "Mail" at the top bar, the "quit" option is in light grey (not clickable). Mail is still accessable on my phone. Is there a way to delte the app all together (with out having to take it in) and re download.

I'm tired of Mac Mail continued to quit with me, on and off. It's annoying. It's been going on for two months now and Apple haven't fixed it. The last time I reported it here with the diagnostic report, I didn't get any new replies back to fix this ongoing concurring problem, except for the first one. After two weeks or so, it returned. I know my diagnostic reports will be the same, every time it crashes. I can't even trash the bundled folder, since it's not listed. I didn't have this kind of problem on my old Imac years ago, when I've had my MacBook Pro for almost two years now.

My Mail has worked since the beginning, but yesterday it stopped fetching incoming mails. I can send mails, but not receive! The clock keeps on spinning and says "fetching new mail" My server ports is set to 25 and 110 as default. When I try to quit Mail, it dosen't. I have to force-quit Mail to close it.

Mail will quit when I try to add an attachment
If I go to the Finder from another application, the Finder quits and windows disappear. If I select "new finder window" finder repeatedly quits. After 10 or fifteen times (usually I just restart) I can get the finder window to stay open.
Using Safari and selecting a file to upload causes Safari to quit. Firefox works fine.
I have done a clean install. Problems persist intermittently.
Any advice on how I can fix this?
