I have 2 iMacs, both running Lion. Both are on my home wifi network and both have folders that are shared between both systems. When one iMac goes to sleep, I eventually lose it on the network. I have to go wake it up before it is again visible on the network so I can access the files on it.Is there some setting I can set that will allow the iMac to go to sleep and yet still be visible on the network. There is a setting that allows network activity to wake up the iMac but it does not seem to work.
Recently, I've been having an issue where neither my Apple bluetooth Keyboard or Magic Trackpad pair automatically with the iMac at my password login screen. This forces me to hold down the power button and force a restart of the machine. Both accessories have plenty of battery power and pair fine after restarting. In a related problem, sometimes neither accessory will wake the iMac from sleep and I suspect it's because the bluetooth is dropping connection while asleep, thus making it impossible to wake up the iMac. Corrupt bluetooth .plist file? Or, could there be a problem with the iMac's built in bluetooth?
I have a 24inch, 3.06ghz, 4gb ram, iMac running snow leopard. It falls asleep every time I use it even when im just surfing the web. I have reformatted the drive, and used techtool pro to see if anything is wrong (it passed all the tests)but it continues to fall asleep. Could this be the ram?
Wi-Fi connection often stops after lion has been asleep. Other devices have no such problem. All was fine until this week. Lion is barely 3 months old. It's not a drag to reconnect, but should I have to?
Lion makes the sleep process take a while. But after a short time my Mac Pro wakes from sleep and even though I have it set up to go back to sleep after five minutes of inactivity it never goes back to sleep. This wasn't a problem with the first version of Lion.
Info:Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), DP 2.7GHz Early 2009
I have a 24" 2.66 bought in Oct 09 and it is current with updates. No matter what I do it will not stay asleep, even when I manually put in down with the power button it wakes a short time later. Is there no solution to this simple problem I know many experience?
Just wondering if anyone else is having a problem with their i7 not staying asleep. worked wonderfully until the firmware update but not clear if that had anything to do with the change.
tried everything so far, from shutting down the magic mouse to unclicking network wake on demand.....no change...
Thrilled with the new Imac. I lost "Downloads" from the dock, a very interesting thing on this computer and trying to figure out how to get it back. So much new to learn, The best way?
This morning I realized that I have no sound. Was away all weekend and know that I had to reboot my systems to get to the internet. How do I get my sound back?
After re-arranging my set-up, I suddenly have no sound from my external speakers (JBL Creature II). After the first panic, I figured I would try with my MBP. Odly, they work just fine with that. Then i tried with my headphones from my iPhone - no sound at alle. I?ve resetted PR-RAM (twice), and is now stocked - and pissed.
Folders I created in mail just went south on me. That is I finally got the ability to get all mail again but seem to have lost the folders I created. I had stored some messages in them too. It just makes one curious as to where they went, Anyone know anything about this?
I recently had to uplug my modem and router. When I reconnected them here is what I am experiencing. My PC desktop computer found the network and is wokring fine, has internet access. My IMAC and IPAD can see the network but canot access the internet. I have reset the router and moden numerous times.
I am Using IMac 10.5.8. And Suddenly I lost my Audio. I don't know what happened. When I start up, I can hear sound, but I cant hear anything on Youtube or Whatever stuffs on my computer (like Skype). I tried Command + Option + P +R and didn't worked.
I came into work today to find our server asleep. Our server is on an old G4 tower. We usually keep this running 24/7 to allow for remote access, but for the last 2 weeks we have set up a scheduled shutdown over the weekend to try to keep the server fresh and clean - bad idea!
Every 18 seconds or so, the machine goes to sleep. The monitor goes black (with a green flashing light on) and the tower goes dead silent and displays a glowing power button. Moving the mouse or pressing a key restores everything where we left off, but 18 seconds later, puff, its gone again.
We managed to get in and turn of the scheduled shutdown but this hasn't resolved the issue.
Whenever the screen is on we can access the server (not email) but as soon as it goes to sleep, we get kicked off the server.
I am new to the IMac experience which I have to say so far I love it but I am having 2 problems.
1) Every time my computer goes to sleep I lose wireless connectivity and I have to log back in where as my other computers I dont have to do this it signs back in automatically
2) Some how I lost Spaces from the icon bar at the bottom of the screen and can not figure how to get it back down there.
i was playing around iTunes open and everything then suddenly no sound, it was fine before so i checked all my setting everything's fine, checked wiring and power to soundsticks all good. Reboot and the loading alert plays nice and loud as always but log in and still no sound.
I have two identical iMacs hooked up to a router. Both had no internet connection problems until now. One iMac works fine, the other just stopped. I swapped LAN cables and router ports but the iMac that quit connecting still won't connect.
I have an iMac intel core 2 duo late 2006. I have upgraded it to snow leopard. From two months ago, it began to show distorted pictures, random lines/pixels/, and regular freezing. But if I boot it into the safe mode, it works well, although there is no sound or webcam. I did a research online and it seems that I should run apple hardware test (AHT) first. But the DVDs came with this machines have been lost. where can I download this software?
I updated iTunes to 11.4. No sooner had I done that, than I lost the connection to my wireless keyboard (Apple). iMac, OSX 10.7.5..I inserted new batteries into the keyboard. That did not work. My Apple Keyboard connected by wire operates just fine.
I have an iMac 27" late 2013. I was wanting to burn some dvd's and installed iDVD, while working with iDVD I received a notice that iPhoto could not be opened because it may be damaged or incomplete...Can I get it back??
My hard drive recently failed on my 2007 imac and having not backed up my mac for about 18 months I had to pay specialists to retrieve my data, which they put onto an external drive. I then got a new 1TB hybrid drive installed. Tonight I finally got my computer back. Very naively I was thinking I would be able to pick back up from where I left off. Before my drive broke I had Mavericks and was fully up to date running software like Logic X. Now I am back on 10.6.8. Can I just skip now straight up to Yosemite?
If i set my displays to sleep in 1 minute (say, if I leave it on overnight, and want it to sleep pretty quickly), they both come back to life after a few minutes. Since they're bright, they absolutely illuminate the room and the S/O isn't too happy with me.
I have an Alu iMac 24", Dell 24", bluetooth mouse, external USB drive, USB keyboard. I tried switching off the bluetooth mouse, and it was no better.
Ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, My MBP refuses to stay asleep. I usually put it to sleep and then close the laptop. After 30 min to a few hours of remaining in sleep mode, it will wake up on its own. Since it is in clamshell mode, it goes back into sleep mode and then immediately wakes up again and remains in this endless cycle. Annoying when I am trying to sleep. Below is what appears in the logs each time it wakes up: I did an upgrade from 10.5.8. The only USB device installed is a mouse. I did some research and did not find much. I deleted the files in LibraryPreferencesSystemConfiguration and rebooted. I also removed the Airport service and readded it. I thought the cause was Airport but now I am not so sure. Any ideas? I am not having any other issues.
