Jun 21, 2010I have two identical iMacs hooked up to a router. Both had no internet connection problems until now. One iMac works fine, the other just stopped. I swapped LAN cables and router ports but the iMac that quit connecting still won't connect.

Sep 10, 2014I updated iTunes to 11.4. No sooner had I done that, than I lost the connection to my wireless keyboard (Apple). iMac, OSX 10.7.5..I inserted new batteries into the keyboard. That did not work. My Apple Keyboard connected by wire operates just fine.

Jun 4, 2014My internet provider says it has a good signal. whether i use wifi or connected straight to the modem its the same, some pages load some dont, always different on what loads and doesnt. If i connect to a neighbour who has the exact same internet speed and provider it works perfectly fine. Ever since i did a software update 3 or 4 days ago it has been happening.

Can I use Safari (like I do with other accounts) to send and receive email via googles email servers?
I assume I need googles send and receive server info (IMAP or POP)?

Aug 22, 2014I have the newest imac and had to have a new hard drive put in, and now when I try to send an email with gmail it won't go. I also downloaded OS X Yosemite also yesterday, so I don' know if my gmail isn't working because of the new hard , or the new OS X I downloaded.
I can send emails from my Ipad with no problem, but not from my Imac, and I,m only 5ft from the Imac.

Can I get Gmail emails I saved to my iMac saved to a flash drive for archiving on my Gmail account? If so, how would I go about extracting and saving the email messages from my Time Machine backups? I have a PC laptop and access to another iMac. I would also like to copy several audio books I had in iTunes. How could I access them?

Jun 25, 2012I bought a iMac G5 with Os 10.4 from my friends cousin, and it didnt have a airport card so I bought a Ralink Comfast wireless USB card to connect my pocket wifi so I could browse the Internet. I downloaded the set up for mac from their site and it all installed correctly and I connected my pocket wifi to it and it says good signal. But when I go into safari it still says 'You are not connected to the internet'. I've tried everything I can think of and emailed ralink and Comfast but their not responding.

Dec 6, 2014My hard drive recently failed on my 2007 imac and having not backed up my mac for about 18 months I had to pay specialists to retrieve my data, which they put onto an external drive. I then got a new 1TB hybrid drive installed. Tonight I finally got my computer back. Very naively I was thinking I would be able to pick back up from where I left off. Before my drive broke I had Mavericks and was fully up to date running software like Logic X. Now I am back on 10.6.8. Can I just skip now straight up to Yosemite?

Jun 25, 2014Ive lost Hd space after removing my windows partition (60gb). I can't reinstall another partition as I've only 23gb left... when removing the original partition it came up with an error (can't remember exactly..but it failed to verify?
I tried using disk utility to open up the disk size, by streching the corner mark?? and verify it, as per a previous recommended remedy ..it fails
I have re opened osx in R mode and used disk utility it still fails to repair or verify lost space? I have no back up drive as it recently failed...tsk and don't want to lose anything else??

Dec 8, 2014Some weeks ago, I installed OS X Yosemite, as shown on my App Store, that was a "System Update available for my IMac 2009". Followed all the steps, normally and installed it as I did many other times ago (with the Maverick, Mountain Lion, OS X).
Just after the installation, I noticed that every single folder or program that depends on "Apple", stopped working.
Examples: Office package opens normally, so as Firefox. But, IPhoto, ITunes, Safari and App Store itself do not.
When trying to reinstall Yosemite or return to the one I had before, using App Store became impossible. Even the "Apple Icon" on the top left corner does not work. I click, it flashes, just IF it was ready to open, but nothing happens, seams that have something stopping the "loading process" of the software.

OS X :: Mail Unable To Connect To Gmail Servers - Refused To Allow A Connection On Port 993
Jan 19, 2008I have my Gmail account set up for IMAP, and use it in Mail. However, as of this morning, Mail can't connect to either the IMAP server or the SMTP server. Whenever I try to connect to the IMAP server, it gives me the following error:
"The server '[URL]' refused to allow a connection on port 993."
I've checked repeatedly and all of my settings are as the Gmail website says they should be. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?

Jun 25, 2014I have full Wifi signal and I'm using multiple device on my Wifi which are all stable except the iMAC. We had a power failure a couple of weeks ago and since then the iMac just won't stay on the network. I have to turn wifi of and then back on to get it to join and that mitt lat 10 minutes.

Sep 6, 2014For the last 2 weeks my wifi connection has been playing up. I use Wifi and my iMac connects directly to my router and it works slow if at all as some pages don't load. I can get by but its frustrating using it and this problem is specific to my iMac as every other device using Wifi works fine. These devices, that work fine, include mobile phones and a MacBook Pro.
I'm using Chrome and its the same with other browsers. I usually get a "resolving host' message in the taskbar when loading pages. Sometimes pages do not load at all or they are slow to load and at times some elements like images don't appear. My OS X is 10.9.4.

OS X :: Internet Connection Lost Every Few Minutes
Nov 30, 2010a few days ago I noticed that my Late 2009 Macbook seemed to lose its internet connection every few minutes just for a couple of seconds only to reconnect. I have no idea why this problem suddenly started occurring, I had not not modified any hardware or software. Strangely enough, this happens whether I use Wifi (at work) or Mobile Broadband via USB ( at home) so I don't think it can be blamed on the internet connection. Stranger still, I should probably not be talking of losing my internet connection but of not being able to access the internet: While again being in a few seconds of slump, I checked my Mobile Broadband Manager and it was not disconnected, upstream traffic was occurring! Just the downstream was at zero. I run windows with bootcamp on the same Mac and there the internet works without trouble. I have all the newest updates installed.

Aug 29, 2014I have a new iMac purchased in Q1 2014 and connect my G-Grive to it via an Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter. My iMac runs 24x7 and this FireWire 800 hard drive connection drops out on a regular basis - I'd say maybe once every week or so leading to a dismounted drive and an unavailable iTunes library. I have a slightly newer USB3 G-Drive which is connected by the USB socket next to the TB socket on my iMac. This one doesn't drop out/dismount. I cannot tell if it is a software issue or a physical (cable movement issue), the plug has never been out and I can't deliberately disconnect it at will by wobbling the cable/plug.
So, evidence and experimentation suggests the physical connection is not the issue. This problem has only come about after switching from a physical FW800 connection (my old iMac) to working via a TB adaptor (my new iMac). I'd rather not replace with more USB3 G-Drives (lack of free ports) and I'm not sure if I want to invest in a TB drive if the connections cannot be relied upon. I've seen lots of complaints of TB-FW800 connections dropping on MacBooks but did not see a specific solution. .
