I dual boot my iMac using Boot Camp and I'm having problems deleting a bunch of files in my Trash. A short history. I purchased a OWC external hard drive case and I've been going through my old hard drives which originally were used in my Windows XP computer. The drives were contaminated with Windows viruses and so I installed the drives one by one in the OWC case and proceeded to delete files and programs which I didn't need in each drive while in OS X and keeping the files I wanted to save in each respective drive. Now what I'm faced with is a Trash bin filled with Windows XP software (including Windows XP itself) which I cannot delete because OS X says I don't have permission to delete those files.

I just got my new 27inch i mac and and want to run parallels as I have a few programs I need to use in Windows. I'd like to install windows 7 but am not sure if I need 32 bit or 64 bit?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI worried about getting windows 7, I have been reading the forums, and I keep seeing that if I run windows through boot camp to use the full power (for games) I need one licence of windows. But then if I want to run parallels with windows I will need two licences of windows? Is this true.
I'm also confused if I can do that .... Use boot camp for windows games, but then use parallels for documents and low spec items. Please help, I'm getting my new iMac very soon and I'm very worried.
If I buy a Apple Imac G5 will I be able to run parallels so that I can run Mac OS and windows at the same time. Or will it only run on Intel Macs?

I have a Late 2009 27" iMac. I'm running Parallels so I can use ACAD LT 2010. If I load a music CD without Parallels running, no problem: it loads and plays fine. As soon as I start Parallels (with Win XP Pro) the CD contents disappear from iTunes and a couple mp3's are all I get (listed from the XP side of things I guess...) I have checked the obvious things. The CD drive is set to share. Beyond that, I really can't come up with anything in my pocking around with settings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new IMac 20 for my home office and I had it set up from MacMall with a number of pieces of software including Parallels and Windows XP Home. I really want this Mac to work (I love my MacBook Pro), but I can't seem to load a piece of Windows software that I HAVE to be able to use. After I put the disc in I keep getting the same error message "The application failed to initialize properly (0x000135). Click OK to terminate." I have tried this same disc in a few pc's and it works fine.....so it has to be my new Mac. BTW the software is something I use that is specific to the funeral industry and the vendor does not support MAC, so I have to work this out on my own.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi'm abit ocd with stuff on my computer, so stuff like this really bothers me. i had parallels one my computer for a little while whilst i needed windows. now i don't i got rid of the partition and uninstalled parallels. but, .exe files and some other files still show the parallels logo, as if it wants to open them in parallels.
is there any way i can change this? i've removed everything i can think of in preferences, application support, startup items, receipts, etc to do with parallels but to no avail.
I have Parallels 3 installed, mostly to run MS Money. Last night I installed Snow Leopard, unaware that Parallels 3 is not compatible. It appears that I need to go out and buy Parallels 4 as that will work with Snow Leopard.
My question is will all my data within Windows remain if I install 4 or will it be a completely new Windows? And if so, how do I go in and retrieve my MS Money data as I can no longer access it with Parallels 3.
I have just installed Windows 7 Home Basic with Paralles. Windows is working fine along with OSX. I am facing a problem.Â
1. I cant drag and drop copy from MAC to Win or reverse.
2. I cant see Mac drives from Windows also I cant see Windows desktop folder or documents folder from Mac OS.

Just wondering if it would be a lighter load on the machine if I load windows xp versus windows 7. I mainly use outlook and various admin tools so needing Windows 7 isn't that necessary.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOK, I know that I can't run XP using Boot Camp under Lion and my new MacBook Pro - but can I use it running Parallels? I bought XP but have no desire to purchase Windows 7 at the outrageous prices that Microsoft charges. I got Parallels in a 'bundle' that I purchased through MacWorld, so I already have it.Â
Just wondering - before I go through the laborious task of finding my ancient XP disc.Â

I was planning on installing Win7 on it and using Parallels for the times I have no Mac option (specific games or apps).
Should I install it as a boot camp partition and then link it in Parallels or just do a clean VM install in Parallels? I'm curious as to what the experiences are and what is my best course of action when my machine shows up.
I am unable to start Parallels Desktop 7 since upgrading to Mavericks on my IMac. The error messages tell me that visualization support is disabled, unable to load Parallels driver and unable to start the virtual machine.

For various reasons I would like to do a clean reinstall of Lion on my MBP. I do have the Apple Lion thumb drive for installation. I also have Parallels/Windows installed on this computer. My question: is there any way I can do a clean reinstall of Lion without disturbing the Windows/Parallel part?Â
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn Snow Leopard and using Parallels I could print, email and work flawlessly. But I made the decision to upgrade to Lion and now I cannot for the life of me print From Parallels at all now. In a company where printing large sheets in a MUST - it disappoints me that I cannot use my machine as I need it to be used. I think Apple needs to reconsider their operating system. That is Lion, Parallels 7, Windows 7 and HP Designjet 500 42-inch. I can print just fine from Mac but not Parallels (this set up worked great on Snow Leopard/Parallels 7)

I use Parallels to create a virtual PC running Windows 7. I have installed Office 2010 on the PC side and Office 2011 on the Mac. All VBA works fine on the PC side, but bombs on the Mac. It was my understanding (directly from Apple) that with the release of Office 2011 for the Mac that all code was now conforming with the PC version. This is probably true for new code written under Office 2010 (PC), however, most all of my applications have been developed over time through many versions of Windows based software (probably the last 10 years)…to date I have never had an issue with compatibility (on the Windows side). I have done some online research into the errors that I receive, however I am really an novice/intermediate programmer and am unable to find adequate solutions to the initial problems (as shown below).Â
Once I receive the run-time error 1004 I use the debug feature, etc. and end with "Can't find project or library. The initial error is probably just the beginning, but I am unable to go forward from this point.

I forgot my admin password on my iMac recently and so i used the reboot with OS X snow leopard install disc to reset the keychain, but now on my login screen, it used to be just my account name, there is one called "Other" so i went into accounts in system preferences and tried to delete it but it isnt there?is really annoying me p.s. the "other account" isnt actually an account it says "Other" and when you click on it asks for your username and password...so i type in the admin accounts name and password (admin account is the only one on this computer), and it just opens up my admin account.

I just downloaded the latest update to Parallels. I shut down Parallels before running the update, and I even did a reboot of the computer. And yet every time I run the update program it keeps telling me to "shut down these running and suspended virtual machines" and refers to "My Boot Camp"Like I said, I rebooted the computer first. There are no virtual machines running. Zero, zilch, nada. So why in the ******* is Parallels telling me that there is? "My Boot Camp" isn't even a VM that I use
