I just purchased a used mac, and when i am in safari, using facebook; when I click to view an image, then go to unclick it (which would normally take you back to facebook) my browser goes back to my homepage. Please help, I have a warranty throught a private company but really hope this is an easy fix seeing as i JUST got this computer!

I'm having trouble opening links on some websites recently. It acts the same on different browsers, click on a link and nothing... I can open the link in a new tab no problem, but don't want to have to do this all the time. I can open the very same pages no problem on my macbook pro, which is running osx lion also and the same browser versions.

I have been trying to download different files from different sites and regardless of the browser I am using it will start downloading and stop at usually under 1meg and then stall and just keep adding the estimated download time. I have very fast internet connection so that isn't the problem and I can download files from emails etc, just seems to have problems with applications that I try and download from sites.

When I put Lion on my iMac, browser windows for Safari become very large and Google Chrome windows are immense.
This didn't happen on my MacBook Pro. I've looked in all kinds of preferences and I can't seem to find a way to trim down browser window size.

Does anyone know of a password protected browser for the iMac?  I have Atomic Browser for my iPad and would like something similar for my iMac. It needs to be quite simple (like safari ideally) but need to able to bookmark sites, use history etc so the multitude of "private" browsers (that don't store cookies, history etc) are no good.

I have had a problem for a long time of videos on certain websites not playing on my MacBook Pro. I have the latest Lion OS update as well as the latest Flash update. I never have a problem with Youtube and most video plays fine but some websites, like for instance, news sites will not respond. I get a black screen with no controls or anythiing. Now I am having this problem with a site called MailChimp. I use FIrefox but it will not play in either Safari or Chrome.

When composing Mail and using the Photo Browser to insert a photo, iPhoto no longer has any folders or events listed under it. It is just a listing of every photo in my library. I tried repairing permissions in disk utility, and reinstalled iPhoto and updates, but the folders do not appear.

Even though I have Firefox listed as my default browser in both Firefox and in Safari, any links in Apple mail default to Safari rather than to Firefox and any URL's I save in Firefox default to the Safari icon. While I understand that Safari is an Apple product that is tied to their OS's, I want to continue to use Firefox as my default browser.

Recently my Mac Pro running OS X 10.7.3 refuses to connect to any Google service. I have tried with Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Camino web browsers with the same result. "Unable to connect" etc. etc. Every other site that I normally go to works fine. I'm pretty sure I don't have the virus because I didn't install flashplayer pkg. I also ran the check to find out if I had accidently ran the pkg with negative results. That being said I also read some of the answers to similar problems and ran a few checks on my own. I opened my network configuration and renewed my DHCP lease, restarted my cable moden and my router. I have also ran a ping on [URL] which came back normal but when I tried a lookup service to [URL] I got the folllowing: Lookup has started Trying [URL] Truncated, retrying in TCP mode.Trying [URL] Received 28 bytes from 192.168.1.1#53 in 3 msTrying [URL]Host not found: 5(REFUSED)Received 28 bytes from 192.168.1.1#53 in 4 ms It sounds like I have a permissions problem but I'm not sure which playlists to fix in my library. i have already under firefox preference/advanced checked and ok the Firefox being the default browser many times. My objective is to make sure that whenever i restart or boot up the Mac, the Firefox icon would appear automatically on the desktop side bar to enable one to simple click on it to launch the Mozilla browser. Right now every time i restart the Mac i don't see the firefox icon on the side bar and has therefore to go into the HD to find the download and start the application firefox again.

I am having problems with all of my browsers opening random websites. All was working fine until one day Safari simply refused to open a few random sites. I thought it was a provider glitch, but they said it's not and besides I have no trouble opening those same sites on my iPad and even from my Bootcamp Windows 7 system. I have no idea what is causing it, some sites simply won't open without any explanation. The browser just keeps loading and loading and loading, but no effect. To make matters even more confusing, it even won't load some images in the mail. The system is up to date.The problem is the same in Safari, Chrome, Opera and Firefox with same web pages. Â

A Java install occurred recently while I was using Safari. After the install completed, I noticed that the installation instructions specified all browsers be closed before installation took place. Can I "reinstall" this software from the command line with the browser closed?

It was flaky after the upgraded to 13.0.0 but resolved that with flushed caches, disk utilities, rebuilding the launch services etc, and I could still access it using Chrome.Having upgraded to 13.0.1 it is not responding to treatment. Have uninstalled Firefox completely - including all leftover files - and reinstalled: still nothing. It's running happily on Chrome under 10.6.8 so I know it's not a connectivity issue through the router.Obviiusly not the app, not the connection, only common areas are the computer itself, which seems to be running happily enough, and maybe something in OSX that has been affected?

When a user copies an image from a browser into PowerPoint 2011 he gets text of a link back to the image, not the image itself. But if he copies from a browser into Word he gets the image, and can then copy the image from Word to PowerPoint. Same results with both Firefox and Safari. Behavior is new so I assume it relates to recent software updates but user does not recall accepting any.
