OS X V10.7 Lion :: How To Get Them Back To Display
Apr 5, 2012
I have noticed that The Wifi and the Clock Icon have disappeared from my Mac Book Pro (late 2011 OS Lion 10.7.3)What I di today was: Setup Firmware password.Setup Vault (Encryption On)USed terminal to enable Hidden files (Roots Var ones) and then disabled them back to normal. Now after encryption was done and i restarted the Mac I noticed that the login screen is showing battery status but not the Wifi and System clock. Not sure if any of the above had caused any issues.Does anyone know how i can get them back to display?

About a year ago, I convinced my mom to replace her old Flat Screen iMac G4 for a Mac Mini. We decided to buy a 23" HANNSpree LCD display, connected via Mini DisplayPort to VGA. Since then, my mom has often experienced the same issue: It is often unresponsive to waking from sleep, and sometimes it takes *ages* to come back to life, especially after the computer has fallen asleep for a long time (overnight).Sometimes, though I know the mini is awake, the display says that it cannot detect a signal coming from the mini.
I have a new 2012 Macbook pro 17 and a 27 inch thunderbolt display.Â
The Macbook was working great. Then I connected it to the thunderbolt display and did clamshell mode. That worked well too. But.. then I powered down the macbook, disconnected the thunderbolt dislplay and tried to boot back up again. The mac book powers on, the back light comes on, I hear the chime then that is it. The back light stays on nothing else happens. Resetting the PRAM can not be done. Any of the boot options are ignored. It is like the keyboard is non resposive. I tried all the reset and boot combinations available but nothing works. Â
The light on the front of the macbook comes on then goes dim. The apple logo on the lid stays lit, and if I close the lid, the apple logo goes dim and the light on the front lights up. Weird, it is almost like it goes to sleep when it turns on. I tried conntecting the thunderbolt again but no joy. I am really disappointed. This is less than a month old and its already going in for repair. It should be replaced. Â

I have a 17" MBP, latest model, with the "upgraded" hd matt display. However, I am curious as to whether I could get the glossy screen back by simply replacing the bezel with a black bezel and glossy screen cover as can be found on eBay - eg [URL]Is the hd upgrade simply the same screen but without the glossy covering and black bezel - or is it in fact a different screen altogether?
I recently updated iTunes to the newest version and it changed the top middle yellowish panel to the bars that show the type of sound being produced. I was wondering if it was possible to change this area back to displaying the song progress and the song artist?
Whenever we upgrade the Mini to an iMac, I have this vision of getting a vertical mount to hang our 20" Cinema Display under the counter in the "bill paying/desk area" of our kitchen. The issue I have is that I'm looking for something that will hang over the back of the display that you can hold the Mini in that does not take up the screws needed for the mount.
I'm thining of bending some Lexan to fit it in (see picture) unless anyone knows of something similar already out there to purchase.
Then I can just get a wireless keyboard/mouse and it will be a clutter-free area.

I've had multiple kernel panics since I updated to 10.7.4. I visited the Genius Bar yesterday and follwed their advice to do a reinstall of Lion. It reinstalled 10.7.4 and I've continued to have kernel panics. From looking through discussions, it appears to be an unresolved issue with 10.7.4 and the concensus is to roll back to 10.7.3. Can someone walk me through the process of doing so?Â
I do back up to a Time Machine/Capsule, which I actually suspect as being part of the problem...it doesn't seem to be working well since I updated to 10.7.4. However, it reports a back up from yesterday which would be before the reinstall but would still be 10.7.4. The strange thing is that is reports "none" for oldest backup and appears to do nothing when I click on 'enter time machine'. Â
SInce i installed Lion whenever I try to capture a pic from websites, nothing happens? Can someone explain what and how I can go back to take pic off website?
I now can't use three programs I desperately need since my upgrade. How do I downgrade back to 10.6? The disk that came with my iMac won't let me load the old system.

Is it OK to just use my original Snow Leopard disc to reinstall SL or is it more complex ? I have upgraded to Lion but am having some problems with some software just not liking Lion.
I haven't been able to find any other threads on point with this isue and just want to determine whether or not this is some issue on my end. I have Back to my Mac enabled on three machines that are running Lion and can connect over the interent just fine. I also have my Apple ID signed in on my AirPort Extreme at that location. For some reason, I just cannot get any machine running 10.6 with Back to my Mac enabled (and signed in under the same AID) to come up. I'm assuming this should work, but is that not correct? Is there no way to connect to a 10.6 machine using 10.7 under Back to my Mac?

Version 6 of address book is difficult to work with and missing a few important features, especially a logical presentation in columns of groups, names and details. How can I get ver 5 back?

I have a LARGE database in Apple Works. I need to get the in a different format.....I cannot open it in Lion. How do I go back to Snow Leopard, just for that task. WIll I loose stuff (I have only been running Lion for a few days....so I gave not created much on it.) I'm mostly concerned about pictures
Wanted to love Lion--hate it. I cannot run many of my programs for my students that I have invested a lot of money into because"Power PC Applications are not supported." Also, my students are network users--every time they log in to the network at a different computer, they have to reenter the iWork SN. It's a nightmare for a teacher with 300 students to help.I want to take my new iMacs running 10.7.3 and back them down to any version of Snow Leopard I can get them to. I can't clone them with Migration Assistant--the iMac running Lion just will not start with the older OS.
Tried to reinstall op system on macbook pro (mid 2010) that came with snow leopard from a time machine backup and it didn't accept my password. I had upgraded to lion, guess that's part of the problem. So I reinstalled again without my time machine backup and can't figure out how to get lion back on, along with the rest of my time machine backup now that i'm back in snow leopard? Tried to use migration assistant but it said i didn't have the correct op. sys. to continue.
I recently upgraded to Lion 10.7.3 on the newest Mac Mini and found several features missing that I'd like working again..Â
I'm a webdesigner so need about 6 programs open at once and when they are all colored the same I can't tell one from the other any more when tiled one above the other. Â
I'd like to be able to change the colors of the toolbar or top of each program plus color the background of the scroll bars. I keep clicking on the wrong page when pages are tiled one on top of the other, as I can't see the edges of the scroll bars.Â
The other day I completely removed QuickTime from my computer by mistake. I went to the apple website to try and download it but there is no link for a .dmg. Instead there is a message that says "Use Software Update to keep QuickTime up to date on your Mac". How I can get QuickTime back?
