I have been using preview to investigate screen shots I've been taking. The problem is preview is opening every single file I've viewed with it when I open it. I take a lot of screenshots.
How do I get image preview to open JUST the image I told it to open? How do I make it stop opening multiple images at once when I don't ask it to?

When I receive a jpg (not a jpeg) from a mac via email it wont open in either outlook or picture viewer etc (win xp). But if the same image is sent to any other PC (from the ma user) it opens OK.The added twist. If another pc user opens (which it does with no issues) then closes and sends back to the failing pc it opens with no issues!

I've been lurking for a while reading posts trying to get as much info as I can. There are still some questions that I hope people can help me with.
I want to get a Mac Pro for medical imaging. I'll primarily be using Osirix which is a program for DICOM viewing / 3D image processing. I have a plugin that will do advance 3D volume rendering using CPU cores, so fastest CPU speed will be best. Don't know if the GPU will be critical, but I figure it couldn't hurt.
I will also need windows to access my work network and PACS system. I don't think I'll use bootcamp much, will probably go with Parallel.
Here are my thoughts for configuration.
MP 2.93 Octo
Memory 36 gig (OWC)
2 x NEC MultiSync 3090WQXi 30'
GTX 285
Those are the easy parts. Now I have question about the HD. In general, I want the fastest performance, but DICOM images can be large and I can easily have over 1 TB of data.
I'm thinking Intel SSD 160 x 2 RAID 0 for boot and apps. Then a RAID 0 for data. But am having trouble figuring out the best configuration.
I know I can use the 4 drives + 1 optical bay. That gives me 5 drives. So here are some thoughts.
160 Intel SSD x 2 RAID 0 for apps + short term data
640 gb (from apple) for Windows
2 or 1 TB x 2 in RAID 0 for data
From what I read, windows can't be on a mac RAID 0 array, that's why I'm keeping the 640 gb drive for it.
For best of both worlds (boot + apps + storage) I like the idea of 1TB OCZ Colossus, but the cost is high and it's not out yet.
If 2 SSD is an overkill, then perhaps a Intel SSD 160 for boot/app and a 3 drive RAID 0 for data?
Backup will be external since I've run out of internal SATA ports. I figure I can go with slow Firewire or USB, but an eSATA card (Sonnet E4P PCI-Express card) will probably work better. There should be enough PCI space with both GTX 285 and GT120 installed right?
I have been reading the postings on RAID cards (Areca 1210?), but I'm getting lost and don't know if that will help in my situation
I have just bought my first mac, an imac 24" standard model. I am operating on the bigpond network and have a 2wire 2701HGV-W router and am connected via ethernet. I want to be able to open a port to enable faster downloads as my current download speed is around 12kbps...it takes days to get a movie. I am not very computer literate, so if anyone can help me please make the instructions idotproof as i am in that category.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWell, after using Monolingual on my iBook G4 late '04 1.2GHZ running Tiger 10.4.11 I tried to install an app from a dmg file and the image mounts but when clicked Finder relaunches (or at least seems to because it blinks off then back on as when relaunching) and the image does not open. Did I mess up the architectures? I left the architectures as marked by Monolingual and proceeded with the deletion.

I then go into photoshop and go File>Open>Media>Photos and it comes up with my iphoto pictures.
It gives me the option of clicking on the events or albums, but after that it does nothing. I cant select a photo, or open an event when i am viewing all events. Why?
Also, is there a way i can view the iphoto library files without having to open iphoto and look thru there. Thats one thing i miss from windows is being able to go thru the 'backways' and look at the files.

I've been having this problem for a while now and its only with images and videos when i try to open any picture or video this msg comes up "The file couldn’t be opened because there is no such file" and i can only open it if i copied the file from my hard drive to my computer.when i open the info for the same picture (one in on the hard drive and one my computer) the one on the hard drive has nothing under "more info" while the one on my computer has a lot of details under "more info" .Â

I have 4 accounts set up in Mail.app... Yahoo, GMail, Hotmail and iCloud. I want to enable push on them just like I did on my iPhone 4. I did gmail push on iPhone using the gmail exchange server. Until recently, all the fonts I have installed have been permanently enabled then a few days ago, I opened Pages and was informed that some of the fonts I regularly use in most of my documents, Optima Bold, Optima Italic, Optma Bold Italic, were not active - Optima Regular was.Â
I went into Font Book and found that there were many fonts which were no longer enabled. I enabled them all and carried on with my work.Â
But now, I have discovered that every time I reboot, these fonts are disabled again. Surely there must be a way to permanently enable fonts.Â

Instead the messages are littered with square boxes with question marks inside them. This only happens on my MacBook Pro 2.93GHz Intel Core Duo with 4GB ram and not on my iMac running the same system.
I have tried junking preferences etc but no change. I have also made sure that the "Display remote images in HTML messages" is checked in MAIL preferences.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having this problem with disk images (no matter if they are .dmgs or isos or whatever) in a Lion 10.7.3 fully updated iMac: when openning one of these from the desktop or a Finder window, the disk utility helper starts opening and checking the image, and then it gets to a point where a window opens as a result with the message "image could not be opened, file system not allowed" (or so, I'm translating the message from Spanish).Â
And after that, no image I ever click even shows even theprogress dialog. Just nothing happens. I still see the process in Activity Monitor, and force quitting it allows the helper to work again, but I never get a .dmg to open up (so I cannot install anything...). The same images work perfectly in other computers and systems..
