Applications :: Photoshop Won't Open Images From Iphoto?
Apr 5, 2009
I have photos from my camera that i have imported thru iphoto.
I then go into photoshop and go File>Open>Media>Photos and it comes up with my iphoto pictures.
It gives me the option of clicking on the events or albums, but after that it does nothing. I cant select a photo, or open an event when i am viewing all events. Why?
Also, is there a way i can view the iphoto library files without having to open iphoto and look thru there. Thats one thing i miss from windows is being able to go thru the 'backways' and look at the files.

I'm having trouble adding images in iPhoto. I want to create a book. An "event" was created when I downloaded the images from the camera but there are other images I want to add. When I drag and drop the images I want to add to the event ( from a folder on my desktop where I put them) it creates a new event, it does not add the images to the event I want them in. So I created a event with the new images I want to add and merged the two events but the new photos do not show in the bar across the top where the images are for me to add to the book.
What am I doing wrong, how do I add images to a event?

I'm in the process of organizing thousands of photos in iPhoto and I have a few questions. I had it originally set to copy my files to the iPhoto library, but I want them to stay in my original file structure. I disabled that feature, but I'm not sure if my files are already stored in the iPhoto library. How can I check? If they are stored there and I delete them, what will happen to my keywords, faces, places, etc? I guess this brings me to my next question. I edited a few photos using iPhoto, and I noticed that the changes did not reflect on the actual image file. Are these changes being stored some where else? How can I make it overwrite my images?

Whenever i scroll though my iPhoto library, many of the images will disappear. The thumbnails are there at first, but will disappear and be replaced with a "!" icon.

Is there an easy way to import all my images that are in my Aperture library into iPhoto 09? I want the originals, not the previews as I believe is what you get if you use the Show Aperture library dialogue...

I have Photoshop CS and microsoft office for my macbook pro with 10.5.6.
the programs were working fine untill about a week when my computer crashed during an update to 10.5.6. I had to reset the NRAM and PRAM, and then it started up working fine. now when i attempt to open and office program or photoshop, they dont open and it says it has closed unexpectedly.
Also, when i try to reinstal it from the disk, the intallation app closes unexpectedly as well.
Since the crash, safari and firefox open, but i have to reset and relaunch it every time.
This happened to me once before, but i ended up bringing my computer into the mac store and hey fixed it, but i am wondering if there is a way i can do it without having to bring it and not have my computer for a day.

I am very disappointed to find that iPhoto only uploads photos to Facebook & Flickr in complete sets. I was really looking forward to this feature as I use both websites regularly, and assumed I would be able to upload just one picture, and choose what album I would add that photo to online. But no, iPhoto needs me to have an entirely new Flickr album matching an entire iPhoto event.

When I receive a jpg (not a jpeg) from a mac via email it wont open in either outlook or picture viewer etc (win xp). But if the same image is sent to any other PC (from the ma user) it opens OK.The added twist. If another pc user opens (which it does with no issues) then closes and sends back to the failing pc it opens with no issues!

Ever since installing Snow Leopard, whenever I create a new image in Photoshop and save it to a file, and then I go into that file to look for it, it is missing. The only way I can find the file is if I enter the name of the image in the finder window and do a search - then it says that the image is in the image folder - where I put it - but when I go there, it isn't there. So the only way to find and then open that newly created image, is to remember what I called it, and then enter it's name in the finder serach window. The other problem that I notice with Snow Leopard is that the newly created icon images in finder are all blurry. The blurriness seems to be random. Some are, some are not.

After installing the latest version of Photoshop 2014 on my late 2013 Mac Pro my images are showing horizontal banding when editing a layer mask. Adobe said this is the fault of the GPU (Mine: two AMD FirePro D500) and that I should post it here, for Apple to read.

I have been working on a project and have a completed picture on my flash drive but when I go to open it, it says cannot open because file is empty. It shows that the size of the file is 96 kb and I can see it with the "quick look" option when you left click. This is using CS3 by the way.

It seems that every time I open iPhoto, it creates a new folder named "Library recovered Photos 1, ...2, ...3, etc". This folders are filled with unix files with very long names in alphanumeric characters. I first notice this when my HD was getting filled to capacity and I was barely adding any files to it. I found this folders in the Pictures folder (I imagine it's the root level for iPhoto folders and associated files) and went ahead and deleted all 180 GB of them. Got back my HD space and iPhoto works fine without them...but I have noticed that every time iPhoto is opened it creates a new folder with this files in them. None of my other machines have this files created in them. What can be causing this? I've check Preferences and there's no option to turn this on/off.

I just purchased my second mac (iMac 24" screen) which has finally made me free from windows. So one of my first things I did was put my 10 year 30,000 photo collection into iPhoto... Everything worked fine except I'm having one problem.... Apparently there were 15 files that were messed up and didn't get imported. Thats fine and no big deal, I can do without them. The problem is EVERYTIME I open iPhoto I get the error message....
Photos have been found in the iPhoto library that were not imported. Would you like to import them? This has a yes or no question.... If I say yes, iphoto will create an "album" that is empty with no photos entitled "recovered photos" and give me the error message....Unreadable FilesThe following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)
If I choose NO, then iPhoto will give me this message....The photos have been placed in the folder /Users/ks72/Pictures/iPhoto Library Recovered Photos_3.
I'm find with trashing these photos and you think after iPhoto placed them in the folder it would stop but it happens EVERYTIME I open iPhoto... I found one thing online somewhere that was partially relevant and it said "go into your iphoto library and find the actual data files which might be difficult due to the naming system and delete them" but how do I go INTO the iphoto library. Everytime I go in my pictures folder and click on the iPhoto library it will just open iPhoto.... am using the latest versions of leopard and iphoto.

I use iPhoto to import CR2 files from an EOS. So far, everything worked great and all my current raw-photos in the iPhoto library are presented without problems. After installing Photoshop CS4, nothing worked, neither in Preview.app nor in iPhoto.app or Aperture.app, they don't support opening raw-files anymore. Ok, IPhoto shows the former imported ones but when I try to import new photos from Cam or Disk, there is the following message: "The following file could not be imported. (The file is in an unrecognized format.)". I even reinstalled iPhoto and Aperture, that maybe the raw driver are refreshed or settings corrected, but nothing happened.

Why does iPhoto take a mirror image of you when it takes a picture instead of an actual photo? I took a picture of myself with iPhoto and one with my digital camera. The one taken with the digital camera is correct as seen from the camera. The one taken with iPhoto is a mirror image of what the lens is actually seeing. Why is this?

I imported hundreds of master drawings into iPhoto but they appeared much darker and slightly discolored. Editing them with iPhoto is not very effective and not something I prefer to do because it is important that the images resemble the original art as closely as possible.
I noticed my Mac does various things automatically for me that usually enhance my experience, but is iPhoto enhancing my images for me? Is there a way to set a preference that iPhoto retain all the original features of the image?

With PCs, I was used to importing pictures to my hard drive and then viewing and editing them with whatever software applications I wanted. With my Mac, I notice that when I insert my SD card, iPhoto starts and asks me to import, which I agree. Unfortunately, it imports the images to an iPhoto folder that I can't easily access from another program, such as PhotoshopElements. I have read how to use Finder to navigate to these imported images in the iPhoto library ("Show Package Content") and then I copy the folder of images and paste it to a folder in my "Pictures" directory in Finder.
I find this tedious and also redundant as I now I understand I basically have two copies of every image, one for iPhoto Library and the other for accessing via other programs, such as Photoshop. Is there anyway I can simply import images straight to a folder on my hard drive? Also, if I do choose to access these images via iPhoto, am I correct in assuming iPhoto will automatically create a duplicate folder, just for accessing in the iPhoto library? If so, isn't this a waste of hard drive space? Can this be avoided?

I am running iPhoto 6 on a Mac running Mac OS X Version 10.4.11. I found several photos in the iPhoto trash that I wanted to add back to my library. I dragged and dropped the photos from the Trash back to the Library (I hadn't read the directions about reimporting them from the Trash, so I didn't execute that important step).
Now, the thumbnails of the photos show up in the library and the information for each photo shows that each is about a 1.2 MB JPEG image. However, when I click on the photo or try to export it, nothing shows up. I have tried putting the photos back in the trash and reimporting them, but that hasn't worked. I still can only see the thumbnail. I have also tried searching for the image names on my hard drive, but nothing is found. What can I do to get my photo properly installed back in my iPhoto library?
