Mar 18, 2012I have always used PCs where I worked and now that I am retired, I purchased a beautiful 27" iMac (2.7GHz, Quad Core i5, 16GB memory, Lion OS X) and I absolutely love it! I feel like I have been working with only a half computer all my life. Here is my problem: Whenever I am asked for my Password, I have to hit the Enter key without typing anything in for the Password. Is there any wan I can set the password on my iMac?

May 12, 2012The timezone will not change. it is stuck on eastern time. I can make the change but once I rebooted, it goes back.
I have tried locking it and unchecking automatic detect and sync to apple servers. I change the time manually as well. is there a location where it is setting the time automatically when it is rebootd. Â

I have read existing threads and tried following solutions:
1: reinstall a clean osx lion
2: restore from time machine
3: change NetBIOS` nameÂ
it is very strange that when i turn off my wifi, i can change it and once i turn on wifi the computer name will be changed back automatically.Â

Jul 3, 2012It seems stuck on the soccerball on the user profile in System Preferences. I've tried changing it to my picture and then tried changing it to one of the dumb icons that come with the system, and still won't change. I did unlock the lock in the lower left corner. I was even allowed to change my login items but I can't change the picture. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Mar 25, 2012change my 'From' email address in Mail.app in Lion. I have my own SMTP credentails to use my own domain email address in gmail. I would love to use this same 'from' address in Mail.app, but I cannot work out how this works. Is this possible? I want to stop having my Gmail address being shown when I use Mail.app. Â
Ideally, this would also work in the Mail app in iOS. Â
I know that I cannot use my own domain email in iCloud, so for now I must continue to use Gmail.Â

However, if I forget and "click" to one of the applications that has it's own desktop it changes my desktop order. Can I "fix" or "set" the desktop order? Example: Mail desktop 1, Safari desktop 2, Word Processor desktop 3, Calendar desktop 4, Contacts desktop 5?If I forget to swipe between desktops but instead click in the menu bar the order of the desktops changes. Can I "set" the desktop order so that it does not change?

I would, normally, replace the app with a copy of itself to overwrite the name but Lion won't let me delete the original because the OS needs it and like I said, the Resource lproj trick doesn't seem to work.
Is there a way to change the name of the Trash or TextEdit app?
