How do I change the default wallpaper that appears on the external monitor's I attach to my laptop? For example, instead of displaying Andromeda Galaxy by default I would rather display my own wallpaper. I hope there is a file I can replace or something, so I don't have to keep changing the picture after I attach my computer to a new external monitor or projector.

Soon after install of Lion 10.7.4 I found that I couldn't change the default image: Andromeda Galaxy.jpg. This lead me to look at Desktop/Screen Savers, when I click on an available image supplied by Apple, NOTHING happens. NO image is set for desktop. The thumbnail loads in the little preview but the selection cannot be saved or changed in anyway.I have done these things...Run the Verify/Repair Permissions Utility.Rebooted and restarted a zillion times.Tried rename the DefaltDesktop.jpg in CoreServicesRead a bunch of blogs and whatnot, and tried to find and answer - NOTHING worked. Before the install of 10.7.4 everything was fine. Now NOTHING. Just stuck on Andromeda Galaxy.jpg PERIOD.I am scratching my head here. Been at this for hours, and still nothing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe first picture is my desktop. I currently have my wallpaper set up to change every 10 min. There are 3 pictures that rotate and as you see in the first picture, they are merging together...The second picture just shows some weird 5h*t. This happens almost every where. It happens a lot in YouTube. I have a MacBook pro i7 (2010). It's only 1 month old and this has been happening for like 2 weeks but it does not happen everyday. More like every 2-3 days. I have to restart my computer to fix.

PS! I know how to change desktop wallpaper from system pref.
I have it set to change my wallpaper every day but it never changes. I have a folder selected with about 10 backgrounds in it. Why wont it work?

I just did the newest security Apple OS X update and after rebooting the default Apple wallpaper was back on the desktop. I tried to change it but nothing will override the Apple wallpaper.
If I go to the Desktop settings, it shows the image of the wallpaper I have selected but its not shown on the desktop. How can I correct this?
I am running Mac OS X 10.7.3 on my MacBook Pro. I have a couple of photos that I want on my background, changing every 1 or 2 seconds, so that it will look like animated. Is there a way to make it? Minimum is listed as 5 seconds in system preferences.

Anyone know how you change the login screen wallpaper in SL? It's different that in Leopard and can't figure out how to do it!
View 18 Replies View RelatedI'm using a MacBook Pro (Penryn) running Leopard. Every time I try and change my wallpaper in system preferences, it crashes and asks me if I'd like to report it to Apple. It eventually gave me the "would you like to reset settings and relaunch" dialogue. Still continuously crashes. I just want to change my damn wallpaper and this is annoying me to no end.

I'm not sure why but whenever I go onto the internet, my wallpaper disappears and it turns blue. If I want to restore it I have to click on a different wallpaper in system preferences then click back to the one I want. Any ideas?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI don't know about you, but Snow Leopard's aurora is so much cooler. I used a program called "Desktop 2 Login" to change the default wallpaper for the login screen to a different wallpaper. Using this same program I changed it back to L's Aurora. (Still in 10.5). When I upgraded to snow leopard, the login wallpaper did not change. It is still stuck on L's aurora. I have used about every method besides Terminal, and it won't change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis has stuggled me for around a year, ever since i upgrade to lion when it is available, i found its hard for me to change my wallpaper to the images located in my aperture library. It's simplely not showing up as a available option in the preference panel desktop image section.
No offense, but dont tell me to do the repair disk, repair permission thing, or change the preview as "always" in the sharing section.
This is what i've done:
1>I've done format the entier hard drive "7 pass erase" around 3 times
2>Fixed the permission, repaired disk, runned daily weekly monthly script for thousands of times.
3>Reinstalled the OS thousands of times.
4>Repair Permission, Repair Database, Rebuid Database for Aperture 3 thousands of time.
5>Runned ACL repair under recovery mode 3 times in Apple Terminal.
6>Called Apple Support, reached to 3 different senior technicients
7>Done the research online
8>Tried everything i can.
I like photography, and i have a 70G aperture library. now i can only export the image into a folder and choose the image from the folder to do it. I know I know, It's not a big deal, just wallpaper. I'd done some programing for 2 3 years. It's kind of a habbit for me to debug the thing, i feel like this is issue for me, which makes me uncomfortable.

I think this is a recent problem, but it could be a problem that I have only noticed recently. This is on a 2011 MacBook Air.
Whenever I switch back to the desktop from a fullscreen app there is a half second delay before the wallpaper appears.
When I use a three finger swipe out of the desktop, the wallpaper disappears immediately. When swiping between two fullscreen apps (mail and itunes, for example), you can basically see half of each app as you swipe, but this isn't the case with the desktop, it disappears to the patterned grey.
The menu bar does remain there, and when set to translucent always shows the background. I have tried this with a number of wallpapers including the default and solid colours.
If this is unclear I can try to upload a screenshot.
If this is common, then so be it, but for some reason I believe this worked differently. Searching came up with nothing but I may be searching for the wrong thing.

basically my wallpaper image flashes and any windows I have minimized to the Dock expand whenever iTunes changes tracks. It's not a huge problem, but it can be a bit of a pain (there, it just happened again, I had to minize stuff in order to get back to this window).
P.S.: I listed the topic under Lion because it never happened before I upgraded to it.

got back from vacation and was moving pics around iPhoto. Couldn't seem to make a copy to a flash drive so I deleted the pics and figured I'd start again.
1/2 of the pics were already off my digital camera !!!
OK....breath....now the last nice pic from the 50% of my family vacation is on my wallpaper. OK....how do I save my wallpaper to a new image ?
In other words, the image should no longer exist because I deleted it....but its on my desktop wallpaper....I need that image !!!! Any way I can save it ????
Not that long ago, I found the folder that contains all the wallpaper backgrounds - I think it was somewhere in the Library? Anyways, after I found it, I added some of my own wallpaper images to the folder, so that they showed up in the pre-set folders of Nature, Plants, Abstract, etc, and not in my New Desktop Wallpapers folder. Well, now I have some new backgrounds I want to add, and for the life of me I can't remember where I found that folder before! I looked in the Library and the closest thing there is the Screensavers folder, but no wallpapers. Anyone know where this is located??
