change my 'From' email address in Mail.app in Lion. I have my own SMTP credentails to use my own domain email address in gmail. I would love to use this same 'from' address in Mail.app, but I cannot work out how this works. Is this possible? I want to stop having my Gmail address being shown when I use Mail.app.
Ideally, this would also work in the Mail app in iOS.
I know that I cannot use my own domain email in iCloud, so for now I must continue to use Gmail.
iTunes has one of my old email addresses in my profile. How do I update that to be my current e-mail address?
Fo example my email and apple id are [url].. but my profile has email [url]... in it - an old email I no longer have access to.
Also - i've used 3 different email addresses since I bought my first iPhone. Everytime I update apps on it asks me for a password for one of those 3 email addresses (Apple IDs) - a different one everytime - and it's been so long since I closed those old ones i'm having a hard time remembering the passwords - I guess - because half the time it fails. It would be nice if there was some way to say everything on this phone belongs to the current apple ID.
I changed the email address for my apple id online using "Manage Your Account." I changed it as well on my iPhone. How do I change the apple id on my mac? I've gone into system preferences - I cloud but can't see how to change my apple id.
I'm getting up there in age, lol, and I'd like to change my e-mail address (that I made when I was 15) to something more professional. I've been up and down through mac.com and other blog websites, and I can't find anything on the subject of either opening a new account and closing my current one, or just simply changing my current one.
I have changed my email address and iCloud keeps asking for the password for my old email address. How do I change my email address for my iCloud acct?
I'm trying to setup mail on Lion Sever (7.3). The only way I can get it to accept incoming mail is to specify the whole FQDN of the server in the address. For example the domain name is example.com and I have a user set up called john. Sending mail to john@server.example.com works.
But sending mail to john@example.com (which is what I want) returns an error: 554 554 5.7.1 <john@example.com>: Relay access denied (state 13).
For internal DNS, I have: example.com - primary zonemail.expample.com - alias server.example.comserver.example.com - 192.168.1.2 [URL] - alias server.example.comMX record [URL]
I see references here to problems in mail on 7.3 but not this specific problem.
I have an email address with an error in it and every time I start to enter an address into the "to" field it will autofill. How can I edit this address or delete it altogether? I know I can edit it in the "to" spot but then next time it pops up incorrectly again.
My dad needed an Apple ID account, so we did the usual (registering and such). There was a confusion with the email address and I by mistake put the wrong email address down. The email account I wrote down is perhaps in use or perhaps not, but most importantly the billing information is on the account. How do I change the address to something else? Will the email be sent to a person who will take advantage of the bank credentials?
How do you change the email address your icloud account is registered with? I use my old mac.com address but icloud registered me with me.com which I never use.
I want to change my Apple ID to the email address which happens to be my back up email address at the moment. But it won't let me change my Apple ID to that becuase of the fact that it is my back up email. However I can't find any way to change my back up email to something else.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
I want to change my primary e-mail address that I use with Apple ID - says Select Edit next to “Apple ID and Primary Email Address.” But there is no 'edit' on that section there is on every other but not that one.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), I'm a beginner!
When I originally set up iCloud, I was using Google mail. I have now migrated my calendar and email to iCloud and have migrated all third party accounts to use my icloud email address for mailshots, notifications etc. All that seems to be remaining is Apple's own discussion pages. It seems I cannot get notifications sent to anything other than my original gmail account, is there any way to change that? I have a forward on gmail so it's not a massive problem, but I would prefer to take gmail out of the equation completely now.
It still seems very strange to me that an Apple user's primary email address cannot be an Apple owned domain (as per their list of rules in the AppleID section). I have my icloud address as an alternate email address so at least it does allow me to log in to icloud.com etc., using that icloud address.
I must be missing something very obvious, but I can't seem to set Address Book to add all new contact info as "Work" entries.I have to edit every new entry and change all the fields from "other" to "work." This appears to happen when I "grab" phone or email info from an email message.
Info: MBP 2.4 Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.7.1), iPhone 3Gs, iPad 1 and 2
Gmail is my default email client. I'm trying to send an email blast to my groups in address book. When I right click on a group, and click "send to...", none of the email address show up in the TO field, only the name of the Group appears.Previously, I used mac mail and clicking "send to" group would result in all email addresses going right where they're supposed to go.I don't know how I changed the client to Gmail, but if I can't get it to work, I'd like to switch it back.
I have just signed up for a MobileMe email address. I want to change my existing iTunes account registered email address to this new @me.com address. However, when I try to do so in my account details page, it says that my me.com email address already has an iTunes account attached to it.
How do I go about changing my registered iTunes account email address?
Many records in my address book have multiple email addresses. No big deal but I wonder if there is a way to tell Address Book / Mail which address to pick as the default.
For example I send a litttle news email one a week to a group of contacts. I want to send this email to people's personal -- not business -- email address. I've created a group in Address Book and type that group name in my Mail to line and the group pops up. But a few of the records pick the corporate address and I have to go in and change those addresses.
I just tried editing one record ... I deleted both "work" and "home" addresses from a record. Then reentered them "home" first, "work" second. But when I closed the edit Address Book listed them in the original order (maybe alpha).
i am on new Imac /10.7.3 and have an iphone 4S and waiting for the new ipad to deliver on friday i have had a mac address for apprx 8+yrs(.mac)i thought i would like a different one how can i do that...i realize i won't be a .mac any more but can i get an additional one without losing my present one?
I have a number of email accounts. Including two name@mac.com accounts. My main @mac.com account has stopped working. i.e. it cannot retrive mail. The other @mac.com account is working just fine. The mail is there - if I look on the iCloud server page. But it will not download. I get the constant password incorrect message. Had this before (haven't we all) usually a quit and restart mail clears it. But this time no. This is also on two machines, my MacBook Pro and my iMac. Both running 10.7.3.I've deleted the password in accounts section - and re-entered it.
I've gone to iCloud and logged in with that password - so its correct.I've gone to Apple ID and confirmed that this is my password. So its correct. Now I'm stuck. It just refuses to download my mail for that account. All other accounts are downloading just fine.Any ideas of what I can do to try and clear this? Or what might be causing this. Started a couple of days ago.
I posted this awhile ago on the address book forum but got no response. I'm still puzzled.
For some reason I can't email new groups that I set up in address book. Older groups that were migrated from previous iMac work fine. In address book I hit the plus button for the new group, name the group, and drag the contacts from my contact list that I want in the new group. When I go to MacMail, activate the "To" field and start to type the new group name it appears in the list, but when clicked on it disappears leaving only a comma. When I do this with older groups all the contacts in that group appear.
Not sure if this is a Safari issue or Lion, but somehow, I have click on the toolbar and changed an original setting which means the URL displayed in the address bar does not reflect the pages I am navigating to. It comes up with the homepage and unless I manually type something new in, it stays the same URL. Even in google when I am changing webistes, etc. it still shows the same address- either homepage address or what I typed,
