I tried to install a Cannon 620 printer. It seemed to go ok, showed up on the printer list when I tried to send a job, but it wouldn't come online and print. I fiddled around (bad idea) and changed the printer sharing parameters, and now whenever I try to go into system preferences, printer/fax, it freezes and I have to force quite. Same with other apps when I try to do something with the printer (like word). I tried to uninstall, but can't get to the driver to uninstall it, as it is in systems preferences. how to uninstall even though I can't get into the system pref printer options?

I have been given an iMac g3 with osx 10.4.11 installed and airport card. My son will have this as his first computer. It is up and running and surfing the net using the airport connected to our home network. I have searched the forums and tried all the results I could find but am still unable to print from the iMac to my network printer.
iMac G3 10.4.11 osx slot loaded, airport wireless. Officejet all in one 6310 usb to pc running Vista. I have tried all the usual SAMBA and LPD methods listed going for generic printer, but get error 256 using printer utility, and NT_status_no_memory when using samba with all the settings, when trying LPD the printer service just stops.
I use LPD://user:password@workgroup/server/sharename and same for smb. I have set up a seperate account for the mac on the vista pc with password and started lpd service I've also edited the registry for lmcompatibility, printer sharing is enabled and both machines have the same workgroup name (WORKGROUP).
message: Incompatible printer. The Connected printer cannot be used. The Canon LBP3100 is connected via USB and registered on the system detailsI have installed the latest driver from canon.

I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop. I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options.

I have an iMac 27" (intel 3.4 GHz, Intel core i7, and 16 GB memroy) purchased a few months ago. It is running the latest version of Lion 10.7.4 I run this computer on our network along with a iMac 24" 3.5years old and a Macbook Pro 2.5year old.
This computer seems to have a beef with the Hewlett-Packard printer (HP colour laser jet CM1312nfi MFP) which I have had for about 3 years. I can not get the new computer to work with the printer properly. It allows printing but it pauses all the time when you resume the print it starts printing from the begining of the document againIt will pause any prints sent to it across the network after the first 1 or 2 pages are printedIt won't allow scanning at allWhen you launch the scanner it takes forever to connect (3 - 4 mins)If you try to scan using any of the scan options (if it loads the devise) it then states it can not connect to the device, or all the scan buttons apear but greyed out. This is odd as it will still allow printing??
Also, all the other PC's have the same version of Lion 10.7.4 and have the latest HP Driver installed (these were released on the 14 Dec 2011). Other useful infoThe scanner is hard wired to the 27" machineYou can only use the printer if one scanner is hard wired as it does not have wirless capacity.I have uninstalled and installed the software more times than i can count trying all different trouble shooting etcI can only conclued that there is somthing the 27" machine is doing to prevent the scnanner registering properlyNone of the other computers can use the scanner correctly either. As you can only scan a page at a time using the "Scan" button. If I wish to scan multiple pages on with either of the other computers I need to use the "scan to folder" button.
The other day I inserted the disk to my HP 3840 and installed the printer. I also registered the product and printed a test page. But today, when I went to print a document from Word, the computer said "Printer: no printer selected" in the dropbox. So I clicked on "add printer" and it brought me to a window with my printer, HP 3840 was listed. When I clicked on the printer to make it the default printer, and selected "add," I received an error message stating: "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. Error:-9672."
Also, I am just using it through the USB port on my Macbook, nothing fancy.
How can I set up this printer?
Yesterday I could print to my Brother MFC-665CW via my wireless network. Today, without making any changes I cannot. I got the printer to print out the network configurations and they seem fine. My partner's PC can still print to it without problems.
But the mac (Powerbook G4 running OSX 10.4.11) can no longer see the printer. I tried re-adding the printer using the Print Utility. I got an error message -50. I tried reinstalling the driver and firmware.
I am running a Mac 10.6.4 with Windows 7 also running through VMFusion There are two printers installed a Kyocera and an OKI C3400. When I first got these set up, both printers worked with Apple applications and with Windows 7 applications. Now, for no apparent reason, the OKI, which continues to work with Apple applications, does not work with Windows apps. - after trying to print, the printer queue shows "error" The Printer Properties shows it to be connected to theTPVM port as is the Kyocera printer I am not aware of having made any alterations to the settings to cause this A long session with a patient adviser on the OKI helpline, including deleting and re-installing the OKI printer has failed to cure the problem. I really do need my colour printer working through Windows
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot a iMac running OS 10.6, and am wanting to print from a Samsung ML-1710P printer connected via serial port to a XP PC. Everything seems to all be communicating with each other, except I eventually get a print error on the XP machine in the print manager. Can anyone help with this?
Notes:
- the computer and printer can be seen by the mac.
- when a print job is sent, the mac spools and sends it "ok"
- the XP print manager status changes to "printing" then after about 1 min changes to an error.
- the latest driver for that printer is installed on the XP machine.
- I have tried to use the Generic Postscript Printer driver, the Generic PCL Laser Printer driver and an old Mac OS10.3 driver from the Mac end. There are no newer drivers available. I have shared this successfully printer before, but only from another windows machine.
I had to have my logic board replaced in my 12" G4 Powerbook. I restored my hard drive content (from Retrospect) and all seem to work fine. Programs and files are where they were as per the last backup. But now none of my printers are recognized. I can have them appear in the Printer Browser window but when I try to add them an error message comes up. "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. server-error-service-unavailable." I have run both TechTools Pro, and DiskWarrior and have restored permissions and zapped the PRAM. The problem occurs with both USB printers on AppleTalk and on our network printers at the office.
I have also...
1. Launch Printer Setup Utility and reselect the printers.
2. Try Printer Setup Repair and ran its utility routines and the problem still exists.
I don't want to archive and install OS X if I don't have to.
I am trying to connect to a windows network printer through my MacBook Air. I can connect to the printer via the windows network and can send documents to print. The document goes through to print but at the last second it says there is an error. When looking on the network windows computer, in which the printer is installed, I can see the document has gone through to print using the printer dialogue box for microsoft, but it details there is an error and the document doesn't print.
It seems that they are connected but there is still an error. Both Windows and Mac computers are up to date currently and the printer is a HP Deskjet F4180.
I have a MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.9.5). My EPSON (WF-2540) printer was set up and working fine. I went on a trip, tried to install Kodak printer driver (no success) and now my printer will not work. It shows in my list but I try to print a document I don't have any printers to select. I have tried:
- removing the software and reinstalling (from website and from CD)
- connecting the printer to my computer
- resetting the printer (under System Preferences, right click, reset printing system)
Error message states 'bad file descriptor'.

I have a HP Officejet 6210 plugged in to my Windows machine, and set for sharing. My other Windows machine can print to the networked printer, but my iMac cannot.I have the latest driver available on my iMac for my printer and I can "find" the printer, but when I print I'll get an error "There is a problem communicating with the printer. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer. Delete or stop the job and try again."
When connected directly to the iMac it will print, and my Windows computer can see the printer, but I cannot select the printer to use.I spoke with Apple Support and they couldn't help me out. They said my best bet was to purchase the Airport Express. I don't want to go out and spend 100.00 for the airport express...there has to be something else.
My Canon MF8380 had been working fine with my MacBook Pro (printing wirelessly), and all of a sudden today I am getting an error that says: "Canon CMFP Printer Driver: Printer is not responding. Check the printer power and connection, and then try sending printing job again."
I have tried the basics - turning off and on the printer, rebooting the MacBook Pro, printing from different applications, making sure Job Accounting is not checked in setup, seeing that the driver seems like it's acknowledged, checking and unchecking sharing prefs.

I recently used a usb CF card reader and mistakenly yanked the cable out before 'ejecting' it.
Now my two trusty canon digital cameras (which I reliably connect directly to the usb ports - no card reader needed) are not recognized.
I have a 2-1 printer and the printer has been acknowledged by the MacBook air however it doesn't let me scan. It hasn't even got a scan button available. Not sure how to get it to work. Is there something I'm missing or do I need an app?
