Mar 12, 2010My lab just got a new HP Color LaserJet CP3525 and while everyone else can print double sided (both Linux and OS X), I am utterly unable to. I don't even have the option. This is weird, because I have the correct drivers installed and in the system preferences panel, I have the option for duplex printer checked.

Sep 3, 2008Towards the lower right hand side of my monitor there is a series of pixels that are dimmer than all the rest. It forms basically a backwards J. It is most obvious when there is a white background (like on this site). Is this something that would be covered with Apple Care?

Feb 20, 2008I wanted to make a backup of a double-sided DVD using Mac The Ripper. It ripped one side with no problem but refuses the other one. It recognizes the presence of the DVD, seems to scan the DVD correctly and the Go! button is then ready to be pushed, but when pushed it flashes (in a tiny fraction of a second) the word Cancel that's in the same box and does nothing else. I've looked in the manual; I've tried restarting MTR; I've tried rebooting the computer; I've tried all that again on another computer. Nothing seems to make any difference.

Sep 30, 2010I added a network printer (HP Laserjet 2300) to my MB (OS 10.5.8) printer list and I can print single sided just fine. BUT there is no option anywhere in my print menu to print double sided. My two labmates can print double sided on this printer (one using MBP with OS 10.6, one a Windows PC). The menu on the MBP looks different and where I have the "reverse pages" option, they have a "double-sided" check box.
I have already:
-Checked the Duplex Unit box on the printer info menu in System preferences
-Looked at ALL the sub menus in the printer menu
-tried to reinstall the drivers (current driver v. 4.3.5.153 - I suspect this may be the issue because the MBP that can print double sided has driver v. 16.something). Actually the HP site was extraordinarily unhelpful in telling me even what version of drivers I should have or getting me to a place where i could download.
-Restarted my computer with various iterations of the above.
This printer can and does print double sided -just not from my computer because I don't have the check box.

Jul 2, 2014double sided printing on mac. Since I changed to a mac, I havent been able to print double sided from my epson sx425w printer. This can be quite annoying if you a lot of pages to print. The double sided print option is just disabled so I cant even select it and I dont have the option of "Duplexer" or "Duplex Printing" as suggested in other posts. Besides, I've not been able to use my scanner since upgrading to Mavericks-I know others have had similar problems too.

Dec 27, 2010I'm new to Mac OS X, but have been working with Linux for almost 9 yrs now. I have set up a Linux box with CUPS 1.3.9. I can print from the server, and from other Linux stations to that remote server. However, I can't print from a client MacBook.
I set up CUPS on the client Mac via http://localhost:631 and created a printer associated with the remote queue / printer on Linux (the URL I use on OS X is http://mylinuxserver:631/printers/hpprinter and the driver is RAW).
I have no problems sending a test page from the CUPS web interface on Mac OS X to the Linux server -- the test page gets printed OK. However, I can't see the printer I just defined from other Mac OS X apps, and neither can I see it from the Add Printer Dialog on System Preferences (it's empty).
I tried creating the printer at the Add Printer dialog, but it would neither let me specify an HTTP URL (as far as I know, I had to use the IP icon on the toolbar) nor specify "RAW". So I tried creating a "dummy" printer in the Add Printer dialog, with a basic config, and then changing it from the CUPS web GUI. This didn't work either, since when I went back to the Add Printer dialog, the printer was gone.

Apr 25, 2012I am on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.7.3, and until some time ago I was being able to print on a HP Laserjet P1102w shared over ethernet from a iMac running OS 10.5.8. Then something happened (probably as a result of an update) and I can't print on that shared printer any more. The error I get on the printer is that annoying /usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed, OR the "authentication required" message. The printer works just fine on the iMac.I tried several fixes posted here and there such as re-setting the printing system and re-adding the printer in both machines, tried to fix it over the CUPS interface,URL]Unfortunately nothing worked. I noticed two weird things: 1) When I try to change the settings in the cups interface at the iMac, it won't let me apply the changes, it's like it is locked... 2) When I pull out the console at the MacBook, the log for the time the error comes out is: kernel: IOSurface buffer allocation size is zeroCan

Jun 29, 2009i'm trying to print some stuff off using adobe and some parts are printing, but some aren't. I've had this problem before i would print of some formula sheets for my finance class and basically if it wasn't a letter it wouldn't print it off but now it's taking out a lot more.
in the first picture you can see how i went through and wrote the stuff in, wasn't that big of a deal.
second picture is one page from the file that printed out fine
third picture, the entire top part is supposed to have a paragraph on it.

If I set the double click speed to its maximum value (System Preferences -> Mouse) I can no longer open with double click folders that are on my desktop while it still works from the finder. Feb 17, 2009 My work computer id acting up. I am running Mac OS X, using a standard, single-button mouse. The problem is, it doesn't want to simply click once and double clicks at random times. I'm not sure when it will happen next, but it's getting annoying. Also, it seems the computer is having trouble highlighting text. When I scroll over text to highlight, it will not stay highlighted. This makes quick copying and pasting impossible.
Keep in mind, this is a work computer and I would not be able to directly manipulate files. Also, our "IT" person usually guesses until she gets it right.
Note: I know that there are probably threads related to this topic, but I did not find any in my searches. I guess the forums match the machines when it comes to not finding what you need.

May 2, 2012My MacBook Pro with Lion sees my printer as a Photosmart C6100 series [964C01]. Says to "Print Using" Photosmart C6100 series. When I click add it tries to download the drivers however says the software is currently unavailable. If I try to add it manually using IP it says the update server is unavailable.
