I have a 2-1 printer and the printer has been acknowledged by the MacBook air however it doesn't let me scan. It hasn't even got a scan button available. Not sure how to get it to work. Is there something I'm missing or do I need an app?

My computer is Mac Pro, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, running Mac OSX Version 10.5.6. I am a big time user of search (or spotlight) on my Macintosh and I have been using for years and through all the updates. I loved the recent updates to spotlight and I was able to search not only my HD but also the network drives where all of our files are located on an Mac Server.
I am the IT person of this small graphic design firm and everyone in our office work on files that are located on a Mac Server. We only keep the applications on our own client computers. Spotlight or (search) was function perfectly up to a few weeks ago but recently when I need to search something on our Signage A, Signage B, Signage C or Print A, Print B or Print C, drives where we keep our files. The search does not bring no result. This is a problem not only with my computer but there are a few computers in the office with the same problem.
What can I do to resolve this problem and be able to search again on my network drives where I keep all the files we are working on. If this function is no longer available with spotlight or search box of the finder window. Is there another software we can use to search for files and folders on our server. Since there are a few people working on the same files sometimes when the files are moved it makes it difficult for the next person to find them, in that kind of situation search was working wonderfully and I need for that to work again.
Using Mac Book Pro & Adobe Flash. I can't get the F6, F7, F5 etc buttons to work as short cuts they just do volume control etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to install a Cannon 620 printer. It seemed to go ok, showed up on the printer list when I tried to send a job, but it wouldn't come online and print. I fiddled around (bad idea) and changed the printer sharing parameters, and now whenever I try to go into system preferences, printer/fax, it freezes and I have to force quite. Same with other apps when I try to do something with the printer (like word). I tried to uninstall, but can't get to the driver to uninstall it, as it is in systems preferences. how to uninstall even though I can't get into the system pref printer options?

My Cannon CanoScan LIDE600f will not turn on. I have Maverick operating system on my MacBook Pro. Tried different cables, nothing works. I went to the Cannon Website to see if there was an updated driver I needed, and was told they had no driver for this operating system. Do I now need to purchase a new scanner?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've done a complete reinstall. I've downloaded the x64 drivers. I've tried everything, and yet my function keys (sound, brightness, eject key, etc) just won't work! They did work when I just used the original disc that came with my MBP. They all worked except the eject key when I only used said Leopard disc. So, when I tried the x64 disc, everything went kaput, including my sound. I have since got that working, but now neither my function keys, or eject key, are working. Can someone give me a step-by-step of what they might have done to get around this, with links?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing very annoying sleep/wakeup problems with Mid 2007 iMac. I think it started after 10.5.6 update.
1. iMac does not go to sleep according to the Energy saving settings, this was actually from the day one. It goes to screen saver, display sleep, but not complete sleep.
2. Since automatic sleeping does not work, I put it to sleep manually by pressing Power button. but in this case it sleeps so deep, that it does not wakeup. The only way to bring it back is to hold the Power button to complete OFF and then power back UP.
I tried, PRAM and permissions tricks, nothing seem to help.
I upgraded yesterday, and since then my key commands no longer work. If I restart, they will work for a little while, then suddenly stop working. I cannot take screen shots, or get Expose to work with F10, F12, etc. Apple-Tab doesn't bring up the applications currently open, etc. I've searched all over for this issue, but not finding anything. On a Macbook Pro, upgraded from Tiger.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a set of Mushkin Apple 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz SODIMM 9-9-9-24 (976647A) RAM for my mid 2011 27" iMac and everything ran great for a few days. I was able to sleep and wake the machine with no problems. Last night I was doing some graphic intensive work on my machine and when I had finished, the fans were still running high but I was going to bed so I put the machine to sleep. Normally the fans would stop at this point but they kept running. I assumed the machine was still hot so it was just cooling after sleeping. The next morning the machine would not wake. I had to do a hard reset to get it to boot up again I tried resetting the SMC and PRAM but it still doesn't wake from sleep. Am I have issues with my RAM?

Now my volume controls and other features on the F1 - F12 Keys do not work.Went into Keyboard Preferences and selected and deselected the [ ] Use All F1, F2, F3 keys as standard function keys. Regardless of the setting, the volume controls do not work. Even when holding down the [Fn] Key. I can adjust volume with the mouse ( new Magic Mouse ) using the control on the menu bar.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.8. I have recently started having trouble staying connected to the internet via my wireless connection. I'm constantly getting disconnected from the internet - the AirPort status in the menu bar can have 4-5 bars, but I can still be dropped. When I click on the AirPort status in the menu bar, you can see the AirPort status going back and forth from "AirPort: On" to "AirPort: Scanning" continuously. It's very difficult to sign up for anything online when my connection keeps dropping. It's also very difficult to watch anything that's being streamed without it buffering all the time. I'm definitely technologically challenged, but it seems like it should be working and it seems like it should be a common sense kind of thing, but I'm not able to work it out on my own - my apple care has expired and I can get NO answers from Apple unless I want to pay for them.
