OS X V10.7 Lion :: Can't Connect To Wireless On IMac

My husband reset our wireless router today and since then I haven't been able to reconnect to the Internet. I am using an iMac, version 10.7.4. I have an identical iMac that has gotten back online just fine. My iPad and iPhone are also successfully connected to the new wireless network that he created, as is his HP laptop. why this one computer won't connect? The bars are lit up, as if I'm connected, but I have no online access. Â
I am trying to connect my new iMac (Leopard OS) to a PC running Windows XP Home Edition using the wireless router. I have the PC connected to the internet via modem/router (supplied by Aliant, the SpeedStream 6520). I have been able to "get on" the internet with iMac using the wireless router. However, I can't get the PC and iMac to connect together over the wireless router inorder to share files etc. On the PC side:
1) I disabled the Windows firewall 2) have set up and named a sharing folder 3) have set up a "work group" name 4) believe I have the correct user name and password 5) not sure about the "network" name, (?SSID) information. 6) have a # with several periods in it that I don't know if this is the computer ID, IP address, or one of the above items, or if they are all one and the same.
On the iMac side: 1) have the IP address of the iMac 2) I have tried "connect to server" but am unable 3) I have never been able to see a "shared" section on the left side of the finder screen.
I have read the thread by "edesignuk". However I did not "put your mac in the same workgroup as your windows PC" as I couldn't find the correct screens on the iMac, and also in phone discussion with Apple help they said they had never done that and advised against it!
I have had my iMac for roughly a year and a half. I currently do not use a router, i know i need to change that, especially for security reasons. Anyway, the airport/wireless has always worked but recently for maybe the past month it has failed to connect, i am wandering if there is a way i can check to see what's gone wrong? or any instructions/tips to help me figure this out.
I have a 2006 Intel iMac (Running 10.6.1)that is not seeing my wireless routers (D-Link 628 and Time Capsule Dual-channel). The D-Link is downstairs. It is not in the best place, but at my only option. My Macbook Pro sees the D-link fine on the same desk as the iMac. I replaced the D-Link with the Time Capsule and the iMac doesn't even see that. If I bring it close (completely underneath the desk) to the iMac it will see both routers. The weird part is before a hard drive crash and replacement it worked fine (I know, I know something is amiss from the replacement).
I cannot connect my iMac or MacBook pro to my wireless network. Both the iMac and MacBook pro recognize the wireless signal but when I try to open safari it says that I'm not connected to the Internet.
I have OSX 10.6 installed and I currently have my broadband connected by Ethernet connection. Airport seems to connect to my wireless router even though this is plugged in. HPSETUP appears as a device in the WI-FI drop down, however to print I need to select this from the dropdown. Can my iMac's wifi connect to this by default rather than my broadband connection?
I have a dual band time capsule working wirelessly with 3 macs all intel (24 iMac, mbp 13, mb 13) with no issues. I was trying to connect a 17" flat panel G4 to the same wireless network on the time capsule and it fails to see the network.
When I type in the network name and password (WPA) it comes back with "encryption method not supported by the wireless network". Although all the others macs are working on this same network using the same encryption, the old iMac refuses to play nice. Is there something else I've overlooked?
We have a PC in the upstairs office with cable/DSL router for Internet (through Comcast). This service also has a wireless connection. We have a Macbook laptop which connects effortlessly to our home network and we use it all over the house. We simply clicked the internet symbol on the top right (looks like a little amphitheater), selected out network, entered the password and have been connected ever since.
Today we brought home a new iMac and set it up in basement office. Tried the same routine. Clicked on the internet symbol, selected our network, noticed that the signal is just as strong as it is upstairs, typed in password but that's as far as we get.
I've gone the rounds with the Assist and the Utility features. I've shut the Airport on and off. I've tried setting up a new network. I do notice that the iMac has a "self-assigned" ISP "and cannot connect to the Internet." Does this mean I can't ever connect? Do we need to replace the self-assigned ISP with our Comcast IP address?
I've read here and there that our router might have Macs blocked and we could add this iMac as a secure system to get on the network. But we haven't played with the router's settings because we wouldn't know how. Besides, the Macbook connects fine.
I purchased a new hp Officejet 4620 wireless printer about 10 days ago. I followed the directions with installing it and it worked great. I did not use it until yesterday. I was not able to print from the wireless printer. How do I correct this issue?
It worked a month ago. But now, since the update, I can't get my MacBook and printer to hook up and play nice. They're both on the same network, and both say they're connected okay, but the Mac can't find the printer wirelessly. Works fine via USB. I've rebooted the router, rebooted the Mac, rebooted the printer, and even completely uninstalled and then reinstalled the HP printer software, along with that update from the Apple support site. Its like there's a wall blocking their communication. Weird.

I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.
*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?
I have an older imac running Lion 10.7.4.My router is a Time Capsule running 7.6.1. Yesterday my imac randomly disconnected from wifi and hasn't been able to reconnect since.When I click the wifi icon no networks show up in the list; it simply shows a greyed out "No Network My iphone and laptop each show 5 networks in the area including my own, the imac shows none.I even set my iphone up as a pesonal hotspot to see if the SSID would show up - it I tried putting my network name in manually through "join other network"- nothing. I have reset the computer and router several times each As far as my imac is concerned there are no wireless signals available.
So here's the odd part, I assume the wifi card has just died and haul my imac into the nearby apple authorized repair center. The guy plugs it in and it works no problem - shows the store's network and another one nearby and connects right away. The guy ran one or two quick tests but everything's working fine. I bring it home, the problem comes right back - can't see any of the wireless networks.Works fine through ethernet.
First of all here's my setup: 30d/4u Charter internet coming in through my Linksys modem, from there to port 1 of my 2006 Intel Xserve running NAT and DHCP, out from port 2 of the Xserve into my AirPort Extreme running in Bridge Mode, and then out to my other devices.Â
My AirPort setup is as follows: Internet tab-DHCP, address set by Xserve; Wireless tab-Create a wireless network, WPA/WPA 2 Personal; Wireless Options...-5 GHz network name is not checked, Radio mode is set to 802.11a/n-802.11b/g/n (Automatic), both 2.4 and 5 GHz channels are set to Automatic; Network tab-Off (Bridge Mode).Â
I am transferring 100+ GB of data across the network to my Xserve, but it is only Xferring at 5.5 MB/s, or around 44 Mbps, which isn't even at wireless-g speeds. My iMac is the Mid 2010 27" BTO w/ 2.93 i7 and 8 GB of RAM. It is also wireless-n compatible.The Xserve is wired and they have had gigabit NICs since the G5s.Â
Things I've tried: In Wireless Options... I tried turning Radio Mode to 802.11a/n-802.11b/g and leaving 5 GHz network name unchecked, but the speeds were down in the 2 MB/s range. Again in Wireless Options... I checked the box for 5 GHz network name, and left Radio Mode in Auto, joined the 5 GHz network on my iMac, tried again, but again only 2 MB/s or less. In Wireless Options... again, I checked the 5 GHz network name box, and set Radio Mode to a/n-b/g, but ocne again, it ran at 2 MB/s or less. The AirPort Extreme is model A1354, which is obviously 802.11n compatible, and the iMac is also 802.11n compatible. Â
I just bout an imac with a 27" display. I would like to use the display for my macbook air - how do I connect the two just to project the AIR on my imac.
i want to get an imac and put it in my room but there is no place to plug in my modem and router up there so i was wondering if there was a way to wirelessly setup my imac with the internet.
I've tried resetting the router and various other things that I found on the internet. I know its not a router problem as I am using my MBP to post this discussion. It won't even connect to the router's internap page.Â
My music library is on my iMac, located in a different room of the house than my home theater system with a decent Denon receiver and good Infinity towers. I have an iPod connector to the Denon which I can use, but the iPod has a limited library of songs, so I would like to somehow access my iMac music library and be able to play it through the home theater system. Hard wiring the components is out of the question due to length of run through several rooms of the house, no basement and cathedral ceilings. I already have my iMac and my Panasonic Blu-Ray player both connected to my wi-fi, and it seems there should be a way to connect both of them using the wi-fi. The blu-ray player is DLNA, but the Mac isn't, so that is out of the question. Is there any other way to get these components to talk to each other over wi-fi?
Every time my mac goes into standby the wifi connection needs to be manually joined, so trying to connect remotely is impossible without joining a wifi network manually.
Last week we switched service from cable to at&t's dsl. I did what I was told, bought the motorola 2210 like they said I had to do and got online, but only with my one computer via the ethernet. I have five kids and three computers that need to often be online simultaneously so I need our network to be wireless. We already had a wireless network for a few years with our Airport Extreme (model A1143) so I was told to:
1. set up the att accts and get online with the modem 2. put their modem into bridge mode 3. plug in the cables and power up airport, change network settings to seek the wireless network
Cannot connect my Mac OS X to wireless. I had no problem until recently and now I keep getting the message "connection failed" or "cannot be found". I have 2 iPods and the new iPad as well as a PC and they all connect with no problems.
OK, I asked this question previously, but not quite succinct enough, I think. I have a Pioneer home theater receiver that is network capable, but not wireless capable. I want to get this thing on my home network without having to purchase another device as my Mini resides no more than 36" away from it.So far, I have been able to get the receiver to connect to the internet through Internet Sharing on the Mini, but it remains blind to, and invisible to my wireless network. I simply want to connect the receiver to my Mini via ethernet cable and have it see and be seen on my wireless network. url...

For some reason I cannot connect to wireless using WPA2, and when setting a manual net work it seems that OS X refuses to remember the protection is "WPA2". I am kinda at my wits end as I just can't seem to make it connect regardless if I set it to WPA or WPA or change the passkey. Regardless of whether I use open (it still seems to require/want a wep password) or a hidden wpa2 network I cannot connect. I have also tried wpa, wep, hidden and unhidden. This is an image of when i used assistant to connect to the hiden wireless network with wpa2. [URL]. You can see that it's not even giving me an option for WPA2. wtf? I have cleared all the plists related to networking, yet I still have the problem.
I do not have access to the wireless router that I use to get internet connection. I have my TC connected via ethernet to my MBP. I have a Linksys Media Hub connected via ethernet to my TC. I need to know how to setup my TC to allow access to the media hub and still be able to access the internet via wireless. When I connect the ethernet to my MBP, my wireless is still connected but I have no internet access.
