How can I view an mp4 video on my MacPro?
Info:MacBookPro, iOS 5.1
I'm looking for a new video card for a MacPro 1.1 (Intel 2007) that will handle Steam source engine games decently and also work with bootcamp. I'm OK with BIOS flashing a PC card but I don't want to have to deal with patching files as well to get it to work since its going into a friends Mac and I won't always be around to show him how to patch stuff if he ever reinstalls OS X.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI listen to and watch a lot of podcasts. Quite often, after I am done listening to a Audio Podcast I will watch a video podcast. Some times it gets stuck and won't play the video but plays audio fine. Anyone else have this problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt must be some ad blocker or something, but I can't view videos. I can't seem to find what's causing it. I can go to YouTube and watch a video, but when someone posts a link, I am unable to make it play. I'll get a site with a black rectangle where the video is supposed to be. Happens on links from tweets too. Safari and Firefox both. I tried the Flash uninstall/reinstall/disc permission/restart routine twice.

Does the mac pro's require additional heat cooling on the memory, does the memory from crucial come with this, is it easy to install like the powermac or am I going to be left floundering like a fish out of water....
I'm considering uprgrading my MacPro from Snow Leapord to Lion, but am concerned about some of the negative reviews I've read.My machine was purchased in 2008 and currently runs OSX 10.6.8, which runs all of my software with no flaws or incompatibilites.I'm a music composer with projects always in rotation.I compose with MOTU's Digital Performer and can't afford a lot of downtime as a result of a "bad" upgrade, hence my apprehension. My machine's specs are below: Model Identifier: [code] If anyone out there has upgraded a machine like mine to Lion with either positive or negative results.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased my MacPro last November. I loaded NUMBERS on my macnine as well as PAGES, and KEYNOTE. I was determined to learn these programs and not rely on using MS OFFICE on my Mac. The rest of my office is still using PC/s and therefore when I am sent a document, it is with MS OFFICE. Up until the first of March, I was able to access all documents sent to me, but sometime in March, EXCEL files sent to me gets an error message:Â
This document was created with an unsupported version of Excel. Only documents created with Excel ’97 or later can be opened.Â
It seems to associate to the upgrade that came out for LION during that month. I have tried everything. My office has tried sending in every format without success. WHAT CAUSED THE CHANGE?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if there is a way to view a wmv file on my mac. I had several funny clips saved over the years on my pc, but many of them are in the wmv format. I was also recently sent a video that I was, of course, unable to view due to this.

When I download videos from my camcorder, they show a grey image and have green exe. written in the box. The only way I can view the content is to open it in VLC, but then I can't find VLC from the finder. Also there are tiny horizontal black lines all through the video. I can play the videos on Windows and no black lines appear. How can I view the thumbnail and get rid of the black lines?

I own a Sony Cyber-shot camera, and a 24 inch IMAC computer. I took a short video clip and downloaded it to Iphoto (no problem doing that). I then downloaded the clip to a 4 gpb flash drive, as an mp4 video. My problem is that my friends Microsoft based PC can't play it.

Earlier tonight I opened iCal, only to find that none of my calendars were there. it was completely empty. However, when I changed the view from "Week" to "Month" all of my events were listed (in the proper color) on the appropriate day, but I still had no list of calendars on the left. Subsequent changes between "Day" "Week" and "Month" view continued to display the events properly, but nothing showed up in the calendar menu on the left.
I repaired permissions same thing happened.I trashed com.apple.ical pref (forgot the exact filename)same behavior. I use .mac to sync between computers, and I use Missing Sync to sync to a Palm T|X.
I have an older MBP (2.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD) and am having problems with PDF files. Well, I guess it would be better described as annoyances with PDF files. I use Adobe Reader and the lag when scrolling is unbearable. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Can anyone suggest alternate programs that may remedy my problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUpon upgrading to Lion, I can no longer view pdf files unless downloaded and then opened. When attempting to view pdf files in Safari all I get is a black screen. I am able to download most files and then view, but some sites don't have that option.
Another issue that I can't seem to fix and I think first appeared with Snow Leopard is that whenever I open Safari I get a message about my version of Safari doesn't support Community Toolbar although have upgraded my browser whenever a new version is availalbe.

I was playing with the different display configurations and options in the Finder trying to figure out what suited me best. I right-clicked on "All My Files" and there was an option to add a search bar to the file. I clicked on this to see what happened and all the files were gone and the full search bar was at the top of the page with all the filters (like 3 or 4 lines worth) displayed. I went back to All My Files, right-clicked again and there was an option to Remove Search Bar (or something like that I dont remember exactly). When I clicked on this the search bar was still displayed but without all the lines of filters and I still can not see any of my files.
I right-clicked again on All My Files and there was no longer anything in the menu about the search bar, the right-click menu magically changed from four items to three. I have looked at all the view options and tried to figure out what happened but I am at a loss as to what I did that made All My Files search only (or at least that's what seems to have happened). This obviously doesnt stop me from being able to view the files through other routes (i.e. clicking on Documents in the Favorites sidebar, selecting Computer from the Go tab, clicking on Macintosh HD on the desktop) but is still quite annoying.

I've been reading other support sites discussing this topic and I have yet to see anything that solves this issue. I have a DVD from a photographer with pictures on it. It works on a PC and a Mac running snow leopard. Lion WILL NOT read this DVD. It tells me it is a recordable DVD but does not show the pictures. I am highly annoyed that upgrading to this OS has created this issue. I don't want to go back to Snow Leopard just to view this DVD (and I don't know how to revert back to it either). I also don't want to put it on my ancient PC desktop just to view the pictures. My DVD player is just fine. It will play movies but not recognize the picture DVD.
