My late '11 MBA (11") pause frequently when trying to run youtube videos along with the "spinning" icon. If I immediately reboot, videos run smoothly.

It must be some ad blocker or something, but I can't view videos. I can't seem to find what's causing it. I can go to YouTube and watch a video, but when someone posts a link, I am unable to make it play. I'll get a site with a black rectangle where the video is supposed to be. Happens on links from tweets too. Safari and Firefox both. I tried the Flash uninstall/reinstall/disc permission/restart routine twice.

I did as suggested earler to uninstall and reinstall adobe flash player. It works and when I tried to view videos on Photography it could not play the videos. It seems that the plug-in is missing. I am having this problem with my Macbook Air.

A couple days ago my mac book pro (with snow leopard) stopped allowing me to play videos. An embedded video in an article comes up as all black or missing altogether (a large white space in the article). If I go to YouTube, the "screen" is black.

I edit the view options for the Applications window. I make the icons bigger, and I put a photo in the background. The window looks fine until I do a reboot (I don't know about logging out - I only have one user). Then when I open the Applications window I find it has reset to smaller icons on a white background. Doesn't matter what I do when I edit the options. It always looks the same after I restart. I can't say for certain, but I think this problem has been going on since before Mavericks. I thought the cause might be a 3rd party app but I just bought a brand new iMac and the same thing happens.Â

Well I got rid of the quicksilvers since they died. Power supplys gave out and took the motherboards, So I sold what was left on EBAY.

Well I didnt' read the fine print and BAZINGA! I noticed that it comes without a video card.
So For video editing, watching hulu and youtube and netflix What do you guys recommend.
I do have a PCI GEforce at home with 512 megs for PC and I was wondering if I could flash it and if so, does anyone know of a good walkthrough?
Two things: (1) I am unable to view YouTube videos, even those I posted previously and (2) videos friends email to me. Does this have anything to do with the recent malware affecting Macs? Do i need to update Java or disconnect it? Is this an Adobe Flash problem?

Is there any way i can watch them like in a different player. It does not matter if they are not in HD i just want to be able to watch them smoothly. I have also installed flash player 10 and nothing has changed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the past I complained about lthe above problem and someone in the forum was kind enough to recommend two fixes: (1) SMC reset and (2) PRAM reset and it worked because I was able to view YouTube and had audio. But the above is a recurring problem and I am experiencing the same again.
I now notice that upon startup the upper right corner of my screen shows "Safe Boot" in red. Does this have anything to do with my problem? How can I eliminate this "safe boot" message once and for all, but more important, how can I fix this YouTube/audio/CF card reader problem once and for all?

After nph brought up his concerns about HD content on the Airs I went to the Apple Store to check it out for myself. I tried watching HD youtube videos on the highest end Air (rev B 1.8 ghz / 128 ssd) and on the lowest end Macbook and Pro. I let the videos fully load before watching them to eliminate variances in network lag. Please do the same if you wish to verify the results.
The MBA stuttered every few seconds throughout the video. The MB and MBP unibody machines were able to play the video without stutter. CPU use on the MBA fluctuated between about 130 - 170% while it was about 130 - 140% on the MB and MBP according to activity monitor. What are your results with rev A and rev B MBA machines on the following short HD video? Does it stutter for you or are you able to watch the full video without any stutter? All I have open is firefox with one or two tab and the CPU gets into the high 70 Celsius before the fan kicks in. Is it normal for the CPU to get that hot? Or is it even safe? It says I am using up to 70% of CPU at times!!!Is HD flash that taxing?

The sound works, but the video screen stays black, on both the computer and TV.
I am frustrated to a point of dumping my iMAC. I am running OX S 10.3.9 on my iMAC. Lately I can't find any damn thing that would run on 10.3 all software even plug in want 10.4 or later... I can't view Youtube. I can't download flash (it ask for 10.4 or later) I can't download Safari or Firefix that would work..
So I tried to find 10.4 or 10.5. I can't find it People selling restore CDs but I don't know if these will work I have a 20" iMAC Power PC 1.25 GHZ 1 GB RAM This is more than enough for what I need to do with this MAC I do not use any other stuff I just want to be able to run my program (music software) and use browser. is This too much to ask from Mr.Apple? my MacBook runs like ****. It's constantly hot (CPU is always above 70*C), it can't get through one youtube video with out stuttering and overheating, it can't run my external sound card (Audio 4 DJ) in conjunction with anything else, and it can't play AVI files without freezing and bugging out. It's a 2nd gen Black MacBook with 2ghz processors, 2 gb of ram, and an upgraded WD 320 GB HD. Is this thing about to take a dump on me? Is the motherboard on its way out? Is there any chance of fixing this thing? It seems the only thing my computer is good for theses days is doing light browsing on the internet. (read light browsing = no flash and no html5.)

I have the graphics switcher/indicator program installed and whenever I go to full screen it goes from intel to nvidia and there is a good 1-2 second delay from clicking the button to going to full screen. If I force 330m to be on at all times the lag goes away. This seem normal? You would think Apple would have ironed out this kink. It makes my computer go from feeling snappy to slow when my netbook can full screen faster.
