OS X V10.7 Lion :: Upgrade Causes Menu Bar Icons To Delay Loading On Startup?

Apr 23, 2012

I upgraded to OSX Lion and my only issue so far has been after a restart the airport icon and battery/power (time remaining icon) do not load in the menu bar for anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute after the desktop has loaded.  I will be get an IP address and establish a connection but I am unable to use the airport menu bar prefrences until the after I wait for the icon to load.  It's rather annoying when I need to select a particular wi-fi SSID after startup.

Completed PRAM reset, disk repair, and disk utility verification.

OS X :: Dock / Top Menu And Desktop Icons Missing On Startup

Jun 1, 2010

Sometimes when I restart my machine running 10.5.8 my desktop background appears but my dock, top menu and desktop icons do not appear. If I force a shutdown and restart, everything comes up normally. This doesn't happen every time I restart, but it has started only recently. I've repaired permissions already.

OS X :: Delay Startup Apps At Login?

Nov 15, 2008

I am looking for a way to delay the startup of the items in my "Login Items" and Startup items/LaunchDaemons. I have Lingon which helps to easily manage startup but there isn't any option to delay the startup of the app.

Is there any settings in OSX or a 3rd party app that can achieve this?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Icons Display As Smiley Faces After Upgrade

May 12, 2012

I just upgraded my macbook to 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7. I don't know what caused it, but text and icons display as smiley faces and the default font has changed. I have a Mac Mini as well, and I did the exact same upgrades and nothing changed. Here are a few examples of what is happening.

The icon next to the Dropbox and Growl menus in the third image is supposed to be for iScrobbler.

OS X :: Organizing Menu Bar Icons

I am trying to delete an application icon in my menu bar (the top right with the little icons for battery, sound, airport, finder, date and time). For apple applications the command and drag (and move works) is good, but the others don't respond (installed a canon printer/scanner). So, how do I delete (which is what I want now) or move them around (for future) the icons?

My menu bar icons have disappeared after installing Snow Leopard. How to get them back. WiFi, Spaces, Volume, Battery and Spotlight blinks on and off. Black Macbook running Leopard with the standard upgrade to Snow Leopard was done. Have an iMac and seems to have everything working on it and did the same upgrade. Both are having small glitches in Safari, but can deal with. It's the no battery and WiFi that's really bugging me. Turning iStat Menus off solves the problem with missing Bar Menu icons.

Software :: Huge Gap Between Icons In Menu Bar?

Jun 16, 2009

Lately the menu bar will randomly throw in a huge gap between icons. Initially I thought it was a specific app, but now it's happening with all sorts of random icons there...definitely not the same icon each time.

The icons you see on the left are the ones I launched after the gap appeared.

Restarting my machine seems to be the only solution to removing the gap.

I've also tried trashing the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist pref but that didn't do the trick.

OS X :: Any Way To Hide Menu Bar (Third Party) Icons Completely?

Sep 1, 2009

Does anyone know a way to hide/get rid of third-party menu bar icons? It seems like every developer out there wants to create a menu bar icon for things that are completely unnecessary, and only half of the time do they have an option for turning it off. Does anyone know of a way to just hide the icon completely? Or hack the application's resources to not display it?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Delay In Connecting To Internet?

Mar 7, 2012

I installed SMC Firmware Update 1.5, EFI Firmware Update 2.7 and Airport Utility 6.0. After installing these updates my internet connection got delayed. Wi-Fi connection seem to be fine, but it takes about half minute before my browsers get through to the net. I have tried several browsers and different networks (at home and at work) and same issue every time a new connection is made or old one is re-estabilished.

Have you any idea how to fix the problem, or should I uninstall the updates. And if so, how is it done?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Printing Delay/Slow In Mail 5.2 Or 5.1.5 On 10.7?

Apr 18, 2012

Everytime I go to print an e-mail in Mail 5.2 or Safari 5.1.5 on Mac OS 10.7.3 on my Mac Book Pro 15 inch 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, the beach ball comes up and spins for approximately 1 minute and 25 seconds.   After this time, the print dialgoue box comes up.  It prints immediately after I press print in the print dialogue box. This issue happens only with these two programs, regardless of any printer I use to print. I have reset the printer system, I have rebuild the mail.  I have called Apple, which led to a developer support, submitting the info, etc, but have not heard back from them. Printing is fine from all other applications, including Parallels running Windows and Quickbooks running on Windows.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Desktop Wallpaper Delay During Fullscreen Swipe

Feb 18, 2012

I think this is a recent problem, but it could be a problem that I have only noticed recently. This is on a 2011 MacBook Air.

Whenever I switch back to the desktop from a fullscreen app there is a half second delay before the wallpaper appears.

When I use a three finger swipe out of the desktop, the wallpaper disappears immediately. When swiping between two fullscreen apps (mail and itunes, for example), you can basically see half of each app as you swipe, but this isn't the case with the desktop, it disappears to the patterned grey.

The menu bar does remain there, and when set to translucent always shows the background. I have tried this with a number of wallpapers including the default and solid colours.

If this is unclear I can try to upload a screenshot.

If this is common, then so be it, but for some reason I believe this worked differently. Searching came up with nothing but I may be searching for the wrong thing.
