How to stop this from happening? On every restart or logout/login, this odd image file loads in preview - like its a startup item or something. Its from the Xerox printers folder under the root library. Makes no sense to me. Here's two screen shots:
View 3 RepliesI made an image of my Windows XP laptop drive using Macrium. I can see the image file there on one of my Mac Pro's internal drives, but Im not able to select in Fusion.. Is there a way to make a Fusion VM from this image? If not, how do I go about creating a VM from my laptops's HD? I'm using Fusion 2.6.

results in a picture (picture2.jpg) that is the size of the sum of picture.jpg and hidden.rtf.zip. I presume this means that I am successfully putting hidden into the picture.I can open picture2.jpg, but I can't figure out a way to access the hidden zip.
A couple OS's ago I remember if you opened a finder window on your desktop and if the column view was open it would attempt to create a preview, making your system completely useless until that preview was generated. It seems that this has been mostly addressed in Leopard, but still exists somewhat. But I've now discovered sadly another place where it exists and it has just cost me an hour of uploading time. getting info on idisk. I was uploading a large photoshop file on my idisk, 2GB, and I had 2 minutes left.
I accidentally did command I on a file on my idisk directory thinking it was my local directory. The file I got info on was 1.4GB.. it's now stuck trying to generate a preview image for that damn photoshop file and my poor 2GB upload that was 2 minutes away has apparently decided it was less important to finish uploading and to generate this damn preview! Which probably entails downloading the whole thing first.
My aperture library shows thumbnails of all my photos like normal, but if I try to view a Split View or Viewer view of the image, after a period of time where Aperture says it is "Loading.." in which the image still looks ok, the image snaps and then appears corrupted. It looks like the viewport is looking at random patches of video memory, showing bits and pieces of various graphics from around the system.
This only started happening very recently, but I haven't been using Aperture daily, so I can't say if it was after a recent OS X update or Aperture update.
I'm assuming my masters are just fine, so it's only an annoying bug, but it makes Aperture completely unusable for the time being, other than browsing thumbnails.
i have a toast image file and i want to convert it to dmg format so it can open to any mac that doesn't have toast installed, is there a way to do this from the latest version of Toast Titanium?

I decided to attempt the same thing on a mac.

Running OS 10.6.4 on a unibody MacBPro 13" with Parallel 5 / Window Home 7. Every time I restart or start up, Parallel starts loading windows. I have checked OS 10.6.4 in the Preferences start up disc to no avail. When I shut down Parallel, it states "Windows is running, do you want to shut down? What do I do to start up in the Mac enviroment again?

I've checked my Start Up items and neither of these are on there. Everything on my laptop is up to date and I've run Disk Utility. What could be causing this?
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust recently I've been getting messages that my startup disk is full and I have to delete stuff. Okay I understand I was riding on the edge of my disk space so I guess I will have to delete stuff. However after restarting my computer all I get is an empty screen and a default blue wallpaper. Finder and my Dock do not load. I am only able to access that top menu bar because Skype gives an error message when the computer starts up. I was able to start firefox from the apple menu/ recent applications. I am completely lost. Also it seems like cache files for any programs I run have been dumped.

I figured my internet was slow or something and waited a little for the image to keep moving, but nothing happened only the audio kept going. I tried to press esc to exit full screen mode, but nothing happened, I pressed more keys, still no reaction, even the audio and screen brightness keys didn't work. So I held the power button to do a force shut down.
After a couple of minutes, I pressed the power button again, startup sound played, then the white screen with the apple logo and loading gear appeared together with a grey loading bar. I figured that meant it had to repair something and waited. After two minutes it just shut off. I decided to leave it closed for the night. The exact same thing happened last night and tonight as well.
I have a MacBook Pro, I think its from 2010, with iOS Maverick installed. I also have MacKeeper on there, which I just read is apparently not a good thing. I tried finding an answer in the discussion forums, but I could only find that you should do a safe boot, which is supposed to make the grey loading bar appear, but that already showed up before and even when I tried holding down the shift key, the same thing happened.
I upgraded to OSX Lion and my only issue so far has been after a restart the airport icon and battery/power (time remaining icon) do not load in the menu bar for anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute after the desktop has loaded. I will be get an IP address and establish a connection but I am unable to use the airport menu bar prefrences until the after I wait for the icon to load. It's rather annoying when I need to select a particular wi-fi SSID after startup.
Completed PRAM reset, disk repair, and disk utility verification.

I am backing up now and realize I should reinstall the system but do I have to erase everything off the computer ?

I just made the big switch to Mac recently, so bear with me.When I am in Safari trying to upload an image the file upload box remains blank. The little load icon is constantly "loading" but nothing ever really loads. So, I cannot uplad any files. Originally, I thought it may have just been a bug in Facebook. But, I went to my blog as well to try and upload images, but the same thing happens.

Once I run the iso image, wine (version 1.0) starts up, and when I run the exe file, in the process window, I see the exe file for maybe 3 seconds, and then it stops. I don't know if what I am trying to do works. Would I need to install this game some other way and then run* it using wine?

i am gonna install VM fusion on my macbook air and the problem is that i left my window xp cd installation at my friends house. Can i install iso image or something like that so that i can ask him to convert it and then send to me via internet so that i can use the image file to install VM fusion. View 5 Replies View RelatedI get an error when i tried to open the .JPG image file. This file was actually recovered from my pendrive. As it was in .SCR i had to use the image recovery software and got it done in .JPG.The file's preview is avaialbe only on the app i used to recover. After i stored the image file on desktop and tried to open it i get an error "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."

I just got a new Mac Book for Christmas and so far I love it. I have a Windows only program I use so after some research bought and installed VMWare Fusion. The problem is when I tried loading Windows XP Professional SP2, I get a message saying: Fatal error 'ASMS' file missing. Any ideas as to how I can remedy this??? Please keep in mind that I am pretty computer stupid.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm currently trying to burn a bootable image file using OS X 10.3.9's Disk Utility software. I have an external DVD Burner connected to a G4 Cube via Firewire. The issue is that when I select "burn" from the menu and point to the respective .dmg file, Disk Utility does not recognise the attached DVD burner. The burner is however recognised in Toast (which I also have installed).What might the issue be? I have searched high and low on the net in an attempt to diagnose the issue to no avail. Is there an alternative solution to burning bootable disks in 10.3.9?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with Preview and Snow Leopard. I can use Quick View to view jpeg files, but when I open them with preview. It does not display the correct image. It just displays a gray block. The only way to resolves this is to delete the preview prefernce files, and then it works. But after a couple of restarts it goes back to not displaying the correct image.
