How do I transfer audiobooks that I ripped from CD's to a storage device? When I try to move them I get a circle with a line thru it, and they won't move?

I have ripped an 8-CD audiobook onto my iTunes. I would like to figure out how to take the 215 "tracks", and turn them into a singular audiobook.

I am trying to export a movie I ripped to my external HDD. I never have had a problem with this, however the one particular file I am trying will not go, it is saying it is unauthorized. I was able to transfer from my IMac to my Macbook with no problems, I was able to transfer from my Macbook to my work computer which has XP Pro. I even tried going from Windows to my external and it doesnt work. When I try to go from windows it says disk full, but I have 150gb free on the external. Any Ideas? The file plays fine, so I dont think it is the file that is corrupted, it is also in .mkv format, but I have transferred other .mkv files no problem.

I have a few questions about hard drive formatting and transferring. I currently have an imac i7 running snow leopard. I want to set up a workflow for archiving my personal files as well as client files. I do a lot of video work and I really like to save my stuff. I currently have a raw 1tb 7200rpm samsung running with a harddrive thermaltake reader. I would like to use the samsung 1 tb as an archiving disk. I have looked into drobo and those nice arrays, but I cannot afford it currently. What format should I format the 1tb? I want it as safe as can be. I plan to just store things. So I assume it will only need to be mac accessible, since I understand fat 32 only allows 4 gb transfers.
Should I format my storage drive to Mac os extended (journaled)? And that leads me to my second question. Natively I had already copied a bunch of my stuff to the 1tb harddrive when I first got it because my pc laptop was dying. So it is now a Fat format with stuff on it. I let the harddrive copy onto my desktop overnight in preparation of reformatting the drive. I hit get info on the folder on my desktop and compare to get info of the drive itself. There is about a 3 gb discrepancy between the folders. Where did the 3 gb go? And why? And HOW should I transfer files to make sure ALL of the documents are transferred?
How do I get my Canon Powershot SD400 to show up as a plain-old USB SD card reader in Leopard?
I'm trying to use PhotoRec to recover some deleted photos off of a SD card. While programs like Image Capture can read and copy pictures from the Camera directly, I need the camera to show up as a plain USB SD card so that I can access it from Photo Rec.

1. Should I use the WD Passport as the Time Machine storage device or use the WD Passport software to run back-ups?
2. If I use it for my Time Machine, will I be able to access my files on other machines?
3. Is it possible to have files stored on the WD Passport, such as photos, but not have those files on my Macbook... if I am using the Passport for back-ups?
I currently have 1 PC (Windows7) and 1 MBP (Snow Leopard) in the house, the PC has 2 additional HDDs attached with movies and music on them and they are in NTFS format. I can view the contents on my PC via my wireless G network on my Macbook through sharing etc. Now my problem is that I'm getting rid of the PC (hopefully for an iMac in the future) but right now what sort of device would I need to build/buy to attach the 2 NTFS HDDs to the network so my MBP can still access the media on them?

I also have another laptop with more iPhoto images/videos... my problem is that I don't have a burner to get the images off these HD's nor do I know how to combine all the images on an external.Is it possible to (like in iTunes) assign an alternate device for storage of your iPhoto library. I'm kinda broke right now, so instead of buying a new hard drive I loaded ubuntu 10.4 onto an external hard drive (USB) and tried to boot the macbook from it. (Failed). I hold down option to launch Startup Manager and all it shows me is a cursor (no drives). I know the external drive is bootable because I a) booted the laptop from a LiveCD and used it to create the hard drive and b) I booted a Dell from the external. I've tried moving the drive to a different USB port, but no chips. I don't have anything else connected to the computer.Â
my question is: Can I boot the macbook from the external hard drive if the internal hard drive is shot?

I hope the following problem is not too long winded. we have 3 identical Dual 1.8Ghz G5 Power Macs all with 30" Apple LCD screens, when any usb storage device is connected powered or unpowered, memory stick or hard drive, any pictures copied over to the mac are corrupt (lines through them, half the picture sheared off to the left or right, half the pic in another colour etc). f i connect the device to one of our older G4 machines or one of our new imac's there is no problem.

I'm a first time user for Mac and I've never ever had a laptop with a 256GB storage. So here are some of my concerns:

Do I have to sacrifice my music library?
What if I transfer my musics to the external storage and download it into Itunes?
Does it mean I have to connect the external storage everytime I connect my Ipod?
Or I can only choose a certain amount of songs to put in?.
Can you, is it permissible, to transfer your music/BOT in iTunes that you put there, to another's device?Â
If so, how is that done? Just plug it in, pick the items and transfer?

I recently updated iTunes to v10.6 from 10.0. Since then, any album art that I have manually added in the past no longer shows up on my iPhone or iPod Classic. However, album art that was retrieved via iTunes (purchases, etc) does appear. I first noticed this on my iPhone, which was running iOS 5.0.1 at the time. I updated to iOS 5.1 afterwards, thinking that it might solve the problem but nothing changed. Â
Some things I should mention; my entire library is ALAC (lossless), and I do not use the sync feature with music. I manually drag albums over that I want and use the "convert to AAC feature", and have always done so. The main reason I upgraded to iTunes 10.6 was to take advantage of converting to AAC 256kbps instead of the previously fixed bit rate of 128kbps. Anyway, I dragged over a lossless album without the option of converting to AAC, but it still didn't transfer the artwork. Â
In case anyone is wondering, the method I used to download my art was by finding the cover using Google Images, hilighting every track in the album, and pasting it in. Again, I never had this problem until upgrading iTunes to v10.6. Â

I am now eligible for any iPhone upgrades and most likely will be getting the new one coming out this summer - whatever it may be. I realized today that most likely it will have 64GB of storage - the exact same size as my Macbook Air - I think it is so wild my future phone/pocket computer will have the exact same storage capacity as my main laptop. I could potentially mirror everything on my Mac that is on my iPhone in the future.

I've ripped using the Regular and also AppleTV presets. Both generate a m4v file (about 10gb file)... but it just won't play in OS X... doesn't work with Preview, iTunes, Quicktime, VLC.. nada...
Searching the forums, I found a post which suggested renaming the m4v to mp4, but this didn't have any effect either.
Is the filesize too big? The icon of the generated file says "MPEG4 M4V, OPEN WITH ITUNES".
At first I thought the file was corrupt, but I have ripped it a few times now, all with the same outcome.
I ripped a few music videos from youtube, but they're all in mp4 - how do I convert them to mp3 for itunes? I tried a few apps from google but none of them really work, except the ones they want money for? Any good freeware ones out there?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI ripped a DVD which has 5 episodes of a TV series, as well as the special features, using MacTheRipper. I now have a folder with two folders named 'Audio_TS' and 'Video_TS'. The Video one has a bunch of IFO, VOB and FUB files, and the Audio has nothing in it.
How do I add it to iTunes so that I can watch it there, and what would I have to do if I wanted to burn it to a disc?
I just recently purchased two audio books from iTunes store and I'm having a problem backing them up. I know I can make a data DVD, but that is not what I want to do, because they are audio files. My main issue is that I want to burn the audiobooks to audio CD, but the quality always comes out very poor. I have been searching around to see if there was a way to make itunes burn to a disc image, but I was out of luck. Basically, I only have CD-RW and DVD+R DL and DVD-R blank discs, so I would need to go out and buy CD-R, if it were my only option. So far, I have tried to burn to CD-RW at both maximum possible and 2x, both of which had poor audio quality, when I tested in VLC, since iTunes would not play any of the tracks straight from the disc. How can I burn audio CDs to CD-RWs from iTunes without the resulting audio having static sound, or is there a script I can type up to have iTunes think a disc image is a blank disc, or should I just buy CD-Rs?
