I would like to put a whole season of a tv show on my ipod, i used handbrake to rip the 4 DVD's to my hard drive but is there a way to split them so that each episode is a file by it self?
View 3 RepliesI have a wedding dvd (about 3 hours long) which i'd like to share with the family on my Apple TV/Mac (don't have a dvd player) etc... results in a file which cannot be played.
I've ripped using the Regular and also AppleTV presets. Both generate a m4v file (about 10gb file)... but it just won't play in OS X... doesn't work with Preview, iTunes, Quicktime, VLC.. nada...
Searching the forums, I found a post which suggested renaming the m4v to mp4, but this didn't have any effect either.
Is the filesize too big? The icon of the generated file says "MPEG4 M4V, OPEN WITH ITUNES".
At first I thought the file was corrupt, but I have ripped it a few times now, all with the same outcome.
Currently, I have all of my media in one iTunes library. This includes 40+ movies, 3000 songs, music videos and podcasts. I also have lots of apps for my iPhone. I have an iPhone 3GS, iPod nano, and Apple TV connected to this library. The files and library are stored on an external hard drive as I don't have the space for this on my uMBP. I would like to split the library (saving all my metadata and album art so that I don't need to redo this) into two. One library will remain on the external hard drive and contain all the movies, whilst the other will have all my music on it. The first library will be used to stream movies to my Apple TV, whilst the other (in the MBP HD) will be used to sync music/apps/photos to my iPhone/iPod nano.
However, at the moment I also have all of my music synced onto my Apple TV, and if I split the library with one containing just movies, all the music will be removed from the Apple TV and I won't be able to keep it up to date with any new albums I put into the iPhone/iPod library. Basically I would like the convenience of having all my music (but not movies) on my MBP hard drive so that I can sync my iPhone without having to connect to the external drive. At the same time, I can't be bothered managing music on two libraries to keep my Apple TV library synchronised with my iPhone library.
I have a .txt file that is quite long and I need to get some data off of it. The file is made up of a few thousand lines each with a format similar to: 1 2.4 5.4 abcde abc.def, The 1, the 2.4, the 5.4, etc each signify a different value and I need to somehow get them into separate columns into excel. The number of digits in everything except the first value (which is always one digit) varies, and all the values are separated by spaces. What is going to be the easiest way for me to get these values into numbers in separate columns? Realistically, doing this manually isn't an option.

I ripped 2 new films, which produce sound so I am confused why the older films will not. Just installed the new iTunes update this morning.

I'm looking for OS X software for splitting and joining mpegs and avis with minimal user interaction. ie. I don't want to have to use a movie editor and drag all the clips in, arange them and then export them, I'd like to just drag and drop them into a box and press 'join' In windows I was using PeckJoin for AVIs and Ordix Mpack for Mpegs, but I haven't found anything quite like them for OS X. I'm perfectly willing to use CLI tools or X11 tools if you know of any as well. Under linux (and OS X) I can join these files just by 'cat'ing them together on the command line, but that has problems if you are missing a file, or if one is named improperly, or is missing frames. Its nice to have a program that will give you warnings about these things

View 5 Replies View RelatedI ripped a DVD which has 5 episodes of a TV series, as well as the special features, using MacTheRipper. I now have a folder with two folders named 'Audio_TS' and 'Video_TS'. The Video one has a bunch of IFO, VOB and FUB files, and the Audio has nothing in it.
How do I add it to iTunes so that I can watch it there, and what would I have to do if I wanted to burn it to a disc?

I am trying to export a movie I ripped to my external HDD. I never have had a problem with this, however the one particular file I am trying will not go, it is saying it is unauthorized. I was able to transfer from my IMac to my Macbook with no problems, I was able to transfer from my Macbook to my work computer which has XP Pro. I even tried going from Windows to my external and it doesnt work. When I try to go from windows it says disk full, but I have 150gb free on the external. Any Ideas? The file plays fine, so I dont think it is the file that is corrupted, it is also in .mkv format, but I have transferred other .mkv files no problem.

The issue I am having is with iTunes. It is fully updated to the latest version and so is my laptop software updates. All I do is rip the music off of my purchased CD from any retail store, but the problem I'm having is when it finishes, all the songs are single and only 1 of the songs will get the album information. How can I combine or sort them all together under one(the one with the album artwork)?

i just ripped my old ibook up, salvaged a harddrive and my lcd screen. I have no idea if the lcd is anygood still, but i was wondering if there was any way I could connect things to it. I only has 2 cords left, i ripped out what i think was the airport and the microphone. The 2 that are left seem to be for power and video.

I have never dropped my laptop, I take great care with it as I need it for school. Last time I went to the apple store they told me it was a cosmetic issue and id have to pay around $800.00 to get it fixed. This time I decided to call the national apple line. They told me they think it should be taken care of, and that some one was being dis ingenious in the store (did I get screwed maybe because some one's boss told them to stop giving customers replacements? I have no idea). So Now I am taking this to the apple store tomorrow. What do you think I should argue? I think since I have a 3 year protection plan, I should get at least my entire case replaced, if not a refurbished macbook pro/ or an upgrade.

I recently went through my Applications folder and uninstalled some applications. Now and then, I'll find a file or a folder or a bunch of files and folders from an uninstalled application. Does anyone know of an application that can delete these files that I no longer need?
