My mac is very slow. I launched safari but the system is using more tham 60% percent of CPU, while the user it shows using 30%.How can I make it get better and faster? I have already cleaned safari cache and history. What I have to do to get down this system CPU usage?
View 1 RepliesFor some reason, I am having trouble uploading to tiny pic, image shack, photbucket etc! The % bar would appear on photobucket and just sit there and hang never uploading anything. Same goes for the other websites.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook shuts down on random percentages when used on battery power. I can only use it for FIVE minutes before it shuts down. And as I said, it shuts down before the battery runs down to 0%.

When I plug my charger into my macbook pro it says "not charging" where the percentage is in the top right corner. The light on the bit that's plugged into the macbook pro goes green then orange. However the percentage of battery seems to be going up, but the little battery icon has the energy bolt sign and not the charging one.

For the last few days I've been worrying about my battery, I know it's silly and everything, but it's supposed to have 7 hours. It will go for a good 5 hours, sometimes more than that. But the percentage rate seems to be going down quite quickly. e.g half an hour ago it was at 73%, now at 62%. The battery time also changes quickly, from 6 hours 42, to 2hrs 32, back up to 4hours, etc. I have checked the condition on Coconut Battery and it's at 100%.

The "% idle" number jumps from 49% to 61% to 99% (but usually stays around 49%), when I'm actually 99% idle. The "% user" and "% system" just don't add up to "% idle." Does anyone else see this? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the RAM I just installed, or if this is a coincidence.

Activity Monitor shows the "% idle" number jumping anywhere from 49% to 99% (but usually stays around 49%), when I'm actually 99% idle. The "% user" and "% system" numbers are less than 1% when the computer is idle. They just don't add up to 100%. Does anyone else see this? The left top of the computer is hotter than any computer I have had before. This is the third computer that Apple has sent with this problem. Apple Care just says to send it back.

I am trying to paste chemical structures from Chemdraw into my slides, however each item I paste have different size. However, my chemical compounds are a specific size that I need to keep constant.Is there a way for me to alter the size of items i'd like to post by altering the percentages? In the past, I'd alter the item's properties in powerpoint and change the item's size percentage.

I recently took the plunge and installed Lion after being content with Snow Leopard....well now I have quite a few issues. When I open system preferences for some reason it automatically opens to Network...why I'm not sure. When I click show all, then click sharing, I can't make any changes in the Sharing preferences without my entire system locking up. I can't force quit or anything. I can still use the mouse but all I have is the rainbow wheel!
I have searched and searched and haven't been able to fix it. I have tried booting into the Guest account and the same problem happens there. I have trashed all the plist files everyone says to try. I have tried repairing permissions etc. I feel like I have tried everything. Is there anything else that I can do without have to do a clean re-install. I'm hearing if I do this that I won't be able to migrate my files from by backups due to permission problems?
I also took a look at my system log and it is full of this!

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, I did the sysytem update for my iMac desktop. It restarted the computer and loaded the initial page. It came to the log in page, so I click on my username and typed in my password. It goes to a white page and loops back to the log in page. Have reseted the computer but it's still not working. I don't know how to reboot it either. I have tried the control + s to reboot it but it's not working!

I recently upgraded to os 10.7 from the App store, along with all the various things that need upgrading as well (.e.g Microsoft Office, etc), on a 2.53 GHz 4GB/500GB Macbook Pro (1.5 years old). The systems is the SLOWEST and most ponderous I've used in 20 years!! It can take 10 minutes to start up when opening a couple of programmes (Mail, Word, Excel), the Office programs crash incessantly, switching between applications is slow, starting up Parallels is GLACIAL, applications freeze all the time. I've still got over 100 GB free on the hard drive.Â

I have downloaded Lion OS 10.7.XX trhough App Store. When I tried re installing the OS it failed after the bootup due to the Hard drive error. Now it is recommending me to format the Harddrive then re install the OS. my system preferences froze on me a couple weeks ago while i was trying to change my screen saver. i've forced quit the program and computer, but when i boot back up, and reopen system preferences it opens up where it froze in the backgrounds settings. yesterday i shot down to see my buddy at future shop and he tried a few things and nothing changed. he called apple and they said this issue has come up a few times now. they recomended to delete a few uneeded files in the program or reinstalling the operating system. we deleted the files and nothing happened. so he told me how to reinstall the OS. i said goodbye because he left for cuba today. now i have time to do the reinstall and dont remember how he said to do this.

Last night I attempted to change my desktop picture and thought I'd scroll through my own photos to choose one. When I got one in particular, it obviously changed the picture, then I couldn't change it back again. All I got was the spinning beach ball. After a force quit, I went back, started up System Prefs and immediately the ball started spinning again. Tried this a couple more times - same result. I shut down the Mac and started up again this morning - still the same. System Prefs always opens on the 'Desktop/Screen Saver' option and the ball appears and spins, neccessitating the 'force quit' option again. (running 10.7.4)Â
