The shortcut keys work in other applications, including Chrome and Firefox, but they don't work in Safari. The context menu commands do the right thing, but there is no shortcut key combo listed in Safari.

After hearing the Mac startup tone normally if you hold down C it will boot from the Mac Install/Recovery disc or if you press cmd+option+P+R it will reset the PRAM or cmd+option+V should show the unix style boot up sequence.
None of these shortcuts seem to be working on my Mac and it boots straight into Mac OS 10.5, why there not working and how I can get these startup shortcuts working again?
cmd+shift+F which previously worked fine to make Safari go fullscreen now suddenly won't.

I have checked multiple support sites, and all indicate the same shortcut. I even tried "adding" the shortcut in the "Application Shortcuts" screen in Preferences.

i.e. in Windows, to go to the File menu you press ALT + F or for the edit menu you press ALT + E.
So basically, my down arrow key popped off and I don't have time to go the Apple store for the next couple of weeks. I'm looking for some application that will let me set a key (or multitude of keys) to replace down. I tried looking online, but I could only find applications that let you launch applications or whatnot with shortcuts, but not just replace another key. Update: Well after looking even more, I found that Keyboard Maestro does what I want.

View 1 Replies View Relatedsince the 10.7.4 update, I have the url shortcuts icon missing in my dock: When draging a new URL from safari to the dock, it's the same problem. The icon is invisible but there is a gap between the other icons and the name of the url's page is displayed when passing the cursor. This problem is only with URL shortcuts and no with jpg or pdf or mp3 or folder sortcuts etc.. I have already reboot the dock and make a disk permissions check and repair. I've had an issue with Word 2011 twice now, where it'll lose some of the shortcut keys, for example Cmd-V won't paste and Cmd-A won't select all. In both cases I've been able to resolve this issue by deleting the Microsoft User Data folder.
I don't have any third-party addons or anything, and have never tried to customise the shortcut keys. I've updated to 14.0.1 and seen the issue since, so it wasn't fixed by that update.
Whenever I assign shortcut keys to Spaces using the Expose' & Spaces panel in System Preferences, it seems that in a day or two the shortcut keys no longer work and System Preferences shows them as being unassigned. I thought there may be a conflict with another shortcut but there isn't - at least according to the Keyboard & Mouse panel in System Preferences. This happens on both my MBP and my iMac as well as on the PowerMac I recently sold. I've tried other keys and combinations but with the same results. I've also experienced this in all versions of Leopard including the current 10.5.7. I'm using F8 to activate Spaces, Command + Option + Arrow key to switch between Spaces and Command + Option + Number key to switch directly to a Space. Has anyone else experienced this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled OS X from a Leopard dvd earlier (took it to an apple store and borrowed their superdrive), then transferred my info from my black macbook (latest revision, so has the volume keys as F10,F11,F12, play at F8 etc) via time machine. Once that had finished, I logged in on the air and tried to lower the brightness. It wouldn't work, so i tried the other F keys and they don't perform their functions.

Yesterday, without spilling anything on it, the left click on my trackpad (and on my wireless mouse) stopped functioning(MacBook Air/OSX 10.6.4/1.6 GhZ) After one hour it started working again. At first, I thought it must be related to settings that i had messed up in the meantime (Universal access, mouse keys etc).However it turned out not to be the case. I tried virus scan, PRAM reset, but it didn't help. Today i took it to the Apple store, they proposed to replace the keyboard. Since I am out of warranty I don't want to pay 200 euros if the problem can be solved without the replacement of the keyboard.
Searched and kind of found an answer, but it doesn't seem to be 100% correct for me. Right now, MOST of the FKEYS do what is printed on them, controlling sound, brightness, F9 and F10 only work when you hold the fn key (lower left). How can I get those to work without that? I know there is an option in the Keyboard control panel, but that only makes it so I have to use the fn key for ALL of them.

Any clues on how to fix this? I called the apple support line and we don't think it was anything to do with the settings in 'universal settings'. I'm not sure what else to do and this is one time I do wish I had a man in the house?! Or at least someone else who has half a clue! I rely haven't had many problems with my MacBook 'till now. I am not sure what happened but it seems my two year old child might have spilled something on my macbook. The keyboard stopped working and when I pressed a key the letter "Z" got stuck. I purchased a used "topcase" from ebay, installed it and I am still experiencing the same phenomonon, although other letters can type normally. My gut instinct is that there is something else wrong ""deeper to the keyboard".

I also removed the keys and checked that there was nothing in the way, but there wasn't. Well when I was playing music in iTunes, the function keys to skip, pause, and every other function key does not work. The volume keys move my windows and pull up widgets. I dont know if the mouse has anything to do with it, but I imagine it doesn't because I disconnected it and the problem remains.
