Applications :: Word 2011 Losing Shortcut Keys?
I've had an issue with Word 2011 twice now, where it'll lose some of the shortcut keys, for example Cmd-V won't paste and Cmd-A won't select all. In both cases I've been able to resolve this issue by deleting the Microsoft User Data folder.
I don't have any third-party addons or anything, and have never tried to customise the shortcut keys. I've updated to 14.0.1 and seen the issue since, so it wasn't fixed by that update.

Applications :: Losing Iwork Pages Format With MS Office Word
I have recently started using Pages in iwork over Office, I like the easy formatting and usability of Pages. But I have to send all these recently create pages doc in a word format to someone and so I did the Save as Word option.When I opened the Word file in Word all the text formatting went all over the place, it looked like it put extra tabs in there and there is a split down the middle of the text like it has put it in two columns.
Is there any way to ensure that when I create my pages document that the formatting is agreeable with word.

Applications :: Increase Word 2011 Launch Speed Even More?
The new Word 2011 start up speed is really good. But it can be increased the same way that Word 2008's could by turning off font preview rendering and the project gallery.
1. Launch word
2. Go to Word>Preferences
3. Click on "General"
4. uncheck "WYSIWYG font and style menus"
5. uncheck "Show Project Gallery At Startup"
6. Quit word
7. Reopen Word

Applications :: Change Background Color Word 2011
I recently downloaded and installed Office 2011 and I was wondering if anybody knew of a way to change the background color from grey to anything you want. In 2008, there was a file in the Contents-->Resources folder called "Page Layout View Background Rest" that you could replace with any image and the background would change (by 'background', I mean the actual grey color on each side of the word document, not the background of the document itself).

OS X :: Software To Reroute / Shortcut Keys To Other
So basically, my down arrow key popped off and I don't have time to go the Apple store for the next couple of weeks. I'm looking for some application that will let me set a key (or multitude of keys) to replace down. I tried looking online, but I could only find applications that let you launch applications or whatnot with shortcuts, but not just replace another key. Update: Well after looking even more, I found that Keyboard Maestro does what I want.

OS X :: Mac Startup Shortcut Keys Not Working?
After hearing the Mac startup tone normally if you hold down C it will boot from the Mac Install/Recovery disc or if you press cmd+option+P+R it will reset the PRAM or cmd+option+V should show the unix style boot up sequence.
None of these shortcuts seem to be working on my Mac and it boots straight into Mac OS 10.5, why there not working and how I can get these startup shortcuts working again?

MacBook Aluminum :: Shortcut Keys For HOME And END?
This is my first mac, first post and I must say already I wouldn't go back to a PC by choice. The only thing I find I miss is the END and HOME keys you get on a PC, I'm sure there must be some key strokes to make this happen, like using the function key and the delete key to enable forward delete. I'm sure this will be an easy answer and look forward to your replies.

MacBook Air :: Losing Saved Changes In Excel & Word
I just migrated from Lion on an old MacBook series 2007 to a MacBook Air. Yesterday, I opened up a grading file in Excel 2011, entered grades, saved the file (NOT Save As - just Save) handed back the assignments to my students - and then went to reopen the file later, and all of my changes were gone. I made more changes, Saved, just opened the file again, and they aren't there. To experiment, I opened the file just now, wrote in a silly comment on the top line, saved, reopened without quitting excel - and the changes aren't there.
A temporary work-around is that I can do a Save As every time I make changes, but that's ridiculous - I'm often updating a file and need the changes to be there. I just tried this with Word as well and I'm having the same problem - some Saved changes are there, some are not.

OS X :: Spaces Shortcut Keys - No Longer Work - System Preferences Being Unassigned?
Whenever I assign shortcut keys to Spaces using the Expose' & Spaces panel in System Preferences, it seems that in a day or two the shortcut keys no longer work and System Preferences shows them as being unassigned. I thought there may be a conflict with another shortcut but there isn't - at least according to the Keyboard & Mouse panel in System Preferences. This happens on both my MBP and my iMac as well as on the PowerMac I recently sold. I've tried other keys and combinations but with the same results. I've also experienced this in all versions of Leopard including the current 10.5.7. I'm using F8 to activate Spaces, Command + Option + Arrow key to switch between Spaces and Command + Option + Number key to switch directly to a Space. Has anyone else experienced this?

Software :: Printing Using Word For Mac 2011?
found it crashes every time I try to print or save a PDF version of my work. It's running on a Macbook pro under OSX 10.6.5, and printing to a Canon MP 150 connected to my G5 running under OSX 10.4.11. Pages prints just fine from the Macbook using the remote connection, so what the? Saw a post that talked about font weeding, which I then checked out, & found & deleted some duplicate fonts, but it didnt .

Snow Leopard :: Microsoft Word 2011 Freezes On 10.6.5
I installed Microsoft Office on a brand new MacBook Air and am having constant freezes (MS Word not responding/beach ball not going away) of MS Word when working on documents. This usually happens when I switch between 2 documents or at least have two documents open. I unfortunately did not save the error notes when this happened and I had to force quit but managed to replicate MS Word crashing (as opposed to freezing) by opening several files at once. Here are the error details not sure this is my original problem but likely there is something very wrong with the way word is responding since I need to work on it quite a lot and the only thing in my mind now his when I last hit save or will the whether the retrieved version (in case it is) has autosaved my changes.
Here is the error I got when MS Word crashed (several times) when trying to open documents:

OS X :: Finding Total Users Of Word For Mac 2011
I'm currently running Word for Mac 2008 on an iMac Intel with Snow Leopard. I do a lot of document writing, often switching back and forth between documents. I find it a pain to have to go to "Window," find a document, opn it, then go back to "Window" to where I was originally.
I've bene playing around with Scrivener and I really like how it lines up documents on the left and then you can import them into a split screen. Does Word 2011 have anything like this?

MacBook Pro :: Cannot Save File In Word For Mac 2011
When I tried to save a word file, the system keep telling me "this file is being used by another program, please save again" then the file name turned into something like "Word Work File L_230232796.tmp" and I have to choose another name for the file. Besides, sometimes the new file cannot be opened correctly.

Software :: Word 2011 Files Converted To PDFs Can't Be Merged?
After making PDF versions of Word 2011 files, I found that I couldn't merge them to one file in Acrobat 9.0. Acrobat 9 becomes unresponsive.
This occurs on two different hardware platforms, a MacMini and a MacBook Pro.
Reverting back to Word 2008 eliminates the problem.
Anybody else see this kind of issue with Word 2011 and Acrobat 9?

MacBook Pro :: Can't Delete A Word File (2011) - Error 43 And 108
I created a file yesterday and when I tried to open it today, it was somehow renamed to "Word Work File L_1.tmp". I tried to open it but i got an error message saying "The application Microsoft Word can't be opened- 108" and so i tried deleting it but i got an error " The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.
(Error code -43)" ARGHh! I can't even rename it or anything! its just there and i cant even remove it. Â
So I copied and pasted a new one and renamed it (yes i could somehow copy and paste) and that one can open, rename and close, so its normal. I havnt tried restarting my macbook because i have another app opened and i would possibly like to not restart or anything at the moment.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Excel And Word 2011 Hang On Saving On IMac But Are Fine On Macbook Air
I am running Lion 10.7.3 on a 2.8GHz CoreDuo iMac from 2007 and on a Macbok Air 2.13 GHz Core duo from 2010. The iMac has 4GB of RAM the Macbook has 2 GB RAM.Â
I run Microsoft Office 2011 on both machines. For the same file the Macbook operates normally on Word and Excel. The iMac is slow at best and when I try a Save As it hangs for up to 15 minutes brfor letting me change the FIle Name. This effectively makes it unusable.Â
As far as I can tell the set up of Office on both Machines is identical and I have eliminated duplicate Fonts as suggested by some posts but the problem remains. I have checked Activity Monitor and I am not getting any Page Outs so RAM does not appear to be an issue.

Windows On Mac :: OS X Shortcut Keys On Windows
Switching between Windows/OS X is frustrating because of differing shortcut keys. Is there any good solution for using OS X shortcut keys on Windows?
Alt-Tab -> Cmd-Tab
Alt-F4 -> Cmd-Q
Ctrl-A/C/X/V/Z/F/etc -> Cmd-A/C/X/V/Z/F/etc
I'm thinking I could remap CTRL to CMD. I'd still like to at least have Cmd-Tab working for application switching though. I don't know of a way of remapping individual shortcuts; just individual keys...
