Recently, whenever I've deleted messages in my Mail inbox, they keep reappearing in my inbox minutes later.I've tried deleting my deleted messages, but that hasn't worked.

i have a hotmail email address i use, i have been using mac lion mail here the problem - i found loads of my emails missing when using hotmail webpage but in MacMail they are all there still.i found that in macmail settings "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" was selected(after one week). (now i have disabled this function)Â how can i send them back to the hotmail server email box?

I maintain regular backups so I have the messages there. They are located at User/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/POP-(me)@pop-server. . . . Â
How do I restore them to Mail's Inbox and Sent respectively?Â
There's an email whose attachments Outlook is unable to download from the server and the attachments in question are small text files. I went to mail.cisco.com and deleted the email there but the outlook still shows up that email in inbox and then get stuck in the "Downloading attachments" loop which I'd shown below. I tried to delete it on outlook but it still stays there. It is causing High CPU as well.

For the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy boss accidentally deleted all the messages in his inbox in Apple Mail and since it syncs with the server (mediatemple), they're all gone from the webmail too. Is there anyway to recover these files? I sent a support request to mediatemple to see if they have backups that they can recover too.
We have a tape backup system here at work that backs up his user account. Would there be a specific file to look for that might contain the old messages?

I have 7,000+ photos in my iPhoto library, many of which have been painstakingly edited. However, when I noticed yesterday that pictures I had deleted (and emptied from the iphoto trash) have reappeared in the library under the relevant 'Events' folder. Why oh why oh why? I have spent six hours already redeleting and editing. Why did this happen? How can I repeat it from happening again? Do I need to "rebuild" my library by holding down the command + option keys when opening iphoto?

At the moment, sorting by unread status means that the top read emails are the ones that have been forwarded/replied to, and then the most recently dated ones.Â

In old style view. Every time I touch a message, it turns to read even if I haven't double clicked to "open it". I presume this is because it is previewing but I don't want it to do this. Also, every time I click on "inbox" to look at my messages, the top message in the list automatically changes to read. Again, I haven't opened the email and in this case I haven't even touched it! Can I TURN OFF PREVIEW? I've been looking around but can't seem to do this.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMoved to my new Mac Book Pro from Linux 3 days ago. My first Apple computer.Wonderful machine and OS. Set up my G Mail account on Apple Mail with the wizard and was receiving e mails no problem. Today all of the mail from both my inbox and sent mail disappeared. I did notice that both my incoming mails and sent mails end up accessible in the folder G Mail/All Mail-- the messages from both inbox and sent mail that disappeared from their respective boxes are in there. In reviewing my various mail settings I notice that Apple Mail set the account up as IMAP rather than POP. I also noticed that there was no way to change this i.e. edit the account. I am not that well versed on differences between POP and IMAP. I also tried rebuilding the inbox after I noticed that the contents disappeared and it made no difference. It is essential that I keep copies of everything on my local machine as well as the server.

I am away from home, and the inbox of one of my mail accounts on my MBP (10.7.3) has lost all its information. When I get home I want to restore (most of) the lost data from my Time Machine backup.Â
However, I do not want to restore all the accounts and all the mailboxes, just the one that was lost.Â
How to I find the Inbox for that account, in order to use the older file in Time Machine to restore it with?Â

I use Apple's Mail program and also my school's webmail (outlook.com) in conjuction to check my school email. However, for some strange reason, my inbox on outlook.com will only hold up to 2 weeks of mail. My inbox in Mail will still be intact, yet for the life of me, I can't figure out why my webmail inbox is disappearing. I've checked every possible setting on outlook.com to no avail. I've also checked Mail's settings, but haven't seen anything as far as deleting older mail. BTW, we're allowed 25 gigs on outlook.com so they shouldn't be deleting them automatically.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been cleaning up my Gmail account through the web browser the past couple of days, I have over 6000 messages spanning 8+ years (I know, that's terrible). When I delete or archive a message in Gmail web browser one one computer, and then go back to my main computer where I use Mail, it still shows over 7000+ emails and doesn't seem to be syncing (or deleting) the messages I have done on the web browser side. It is set up with IMAP and syncs new messages fine. It even deletes new messages that come in and are deleted, just not these old ones.Â
Do I need to delete the account on my Mac and recreate it? If so, should I also delete all mail contents in the Library Mail folder?Â

I like Mail 3.0, but one bug could be a deal breaker for me:I don't like the notes feature and don't plan to use it. However, there are four mystery notes that keep reappearing in my Reminders. I don't remember creating them, and whenever I delete them they reappear about 5 minutes later. They are all blank and always have the same timestamp, too. I've tried junking them, I've tried deleting the Notes mailbox itself, even deleting it on google's end.

I setup my macbook air 11" with a folder within the inbox in Apple mail. I set up a rule so that any email with a certain address [URL] went into that folder. However all my mail went into that folder for that particular email address.Â
Here this adds to my problem:Â
Having had issues I exchanged my 11" air for a 13" and apple moved everything across. The mail coming in from [URL] etc is still going into the folder but so is everything else for that mailbox - however when I go to preference > Rules there is only one listed called Apple (a default I think)Â
So how can I get my mail going back to the main inbox an then segregating the mail for the info@ into the networking folder? I am using Lion 10.7.4 13" air 1.8ghz intel core i7

For some unknown reason, all my iCloud Mails that were in my inbox on my iMac, my iPhone, my iPad have disappeared without me actually deleting them. Some of my mail is not showing up in my inbox on my Mac but came through on my phone. Am using imap so it should not have deleted from the server...and I have never have had this problem before.Â
It seems to be working again now, but there are 5 or so emails that just will not come through to my Mac inbox even though I can see them in the inbox on my phone...important work emails....concerned this may happen again and something will slip through the net.Â

Since switching to Lion, I've noticed that Notes are now visible in the Inbox view in Mail. Every time I create a new one (and I use Notes a lot!), it is visible in the Inbox Â
I want to switch this off - I only want to see Notes if I click on the Notes mailbox!Â
