While working with my ISP on a mail problem I deleted all of the messages from Inbox and Sent.Â
I maintain regular backups so I have the messages there. They are located at User/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/POP-(me)@pop-server. . . . Â
How do I restore them to Mail's Inbox and Sent respectively?Â
Recently, whenever I've deleted messages in my Mail inbox, they keep reappearing in my inbox minutes later.I've tried deleting my deleted messages, but that hasn't worked.

Is it possible to sort all the messages in my inbox by unread status and then by date?Â
That is, I will have all of my unread emails at the top, but then the first read email will be my most recently received one?Â
At the moment, sorting by unread status means that the top read emails are the ones that have been forwarded/replied to, and then the most recently dated ones.Â

In old style view. Every time I touch a message, it turns to read even if I haven't double clicked to "open it". I presume this is because it is previewing but I don't want it to do this. Also, every time I click on "inbox" to look at my messages, the top message in the list automatically changes to read. Again, I haven't opened the email and in this case I haven't even touched it! Can I TURN OFF PREVIEW? I've been looking around but can't seem to do this.

When I check multiple messages for deletion in my IMAP inbox on my iPad or iTouch, I get an instant screen message: "Unable to Move Messages. The messages could not be moved to the mailbox trash." The selected messages do disappear from the stack but what is this message trying to tell me?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am away from home, and the inbox of one of my mail accounts on my MBP (10.7.3) has lost all its information. When I get home I want to restore (most of) the lost data from my Time Machine backup.Â
However, I do not want to restore all the accounts and all the mailboxes, just the one that was lost.Â
How to I find the Inbox for that account, in order to use the older file in Time Machine to restore it with?Â

I have a quick question...I really don't like the feature of gmail where it saves your sent messages into the inbox. Instead, I would like them restricted to the "Sent Mail" folder so I don't have to sift through my own messages I sent. Does anyone know how I can do this?

I've got really odd behavior in my Mail application running on a MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 4GB RAM OS X 10.7.3. I have several email accounts. In one of them, "X," some emails don't show up in the account Inbox even though they are present in the overall Inbox marked as "Inbox - X"! Also, when I set up a Smart Mailbox with as criterion that the sender is "Y," the sender of one of these "missing" emails, those emails don't show in the Smart Mailbox. What's going on here? It screws up my email management as I can't be sure my Smart Mailboxes and folders contain all that they're supposed to.

I've setup my Gmail IMAP account in Mail 5.3. I've configured my gmail account to only show in imap the inbox, sent mail, junk and drafts to get rid of the pesky "All Mail" box. Sending emails from Mail works fine (and they've been copied into my gmail sent box as well), but Mail stopped downloading new messages in the inbox after the initial setup. I don't have any filters on.Â

View 15 Replies View RelatedI've used Google's instructions to set up my Gmail accounts on Mac Mail using IMAP. The only issue I'm finding is when I have messages in my inbox, all I see are the emails that were sent to me. To see the messages I've send, I can only do this by clicking on sent mail.
Is there anyway to see my messages in their threads just by clicking on the inbox, just how it works when using Gmail via their web site? I can get the view I want when I click "All Mail" but then I have hundreds of emails rather than what's in my inbox. I've searched everywhere but have yet to find a solution.
One of the side scrolls buttons does not work. I cannot scroll down to see my messages in the in box of Microsoft "the cloud".

I activated my gmail on my macbook pro (new mac user, older macbook). I can send messages no problem and I can see them in "sent" folder and receive them on other devices. But, I am not receiving messages to the inbox on the mac book mail. I was told to remove the account and then reinstall it, but I can't figure out how to remove it. Where I can enable mail so I can receive messages?

For the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to restore my inbox in Mail. I navigate to the inbox in the Mail app, click on Time Machine in the dock. It all appears to work and says 'click restore to recover your inbox'. However, I can't for the life of me see the restore button. In fact, apart from the Mail window, I can't see any evidence of TM at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my inbox, seems its corrupted in some way. I can see the headers, but no contents, cant delete or move message. All other folders seem OK. Its from a POP3 mailbox where the originals are deleted off the server when downloaded so I'd prefer to try and recover it but I can live with losing the contents if necessary. Any ideas? Is there a tool or way to repair? I have Time Machine but I doubt the TM backup will have caught these files between them being downloaded (they came in one batch) and being corrupted as it was only a few minutes. Not sure how I could tell if TM did catch them either.
Update; Impressive, TM did recover them, now I just need to work out how to empty the inbox of the corrupt messages. Worst case I can create a new email account but I'd rather not as configuring it was troublesome.
Second Update; Mailbox > rebuild, then move the messages from the TM mail recovered folder back to inbox.
Using Messages I sent a text to my wife's iPhone 4S. It starts a new screen. How do I send a message so it just appends that message to all the others she's been getting from me?

Recently my hard drive crashed. All attempts to revive it failed. I have used Time Machine for years to save my backups on an external hard drive. Can I get Gmail emails I saved to my iMac saved to a flash drive for archiving on my Gmail account? If so, how would I go about extracting and saving the email messages from my Time Machine backups? I have a PC laptop and access to another iMac. I would also like to copy several audio books I had in iTunes. How could I access them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Apple's Mail program and also my school's webmail (outlook.com) in conjuction to check my school email. However, for some strange reason, my inbox on outlook.com will only hold up to 2 weeks of mail. My inbox in Mail will still be intact, yet for the life of me, I can't figure out why my webmail inbox is disappearing. I've checked every possible setting on outlook.com to no avail. I've also checked Mail's settings, but haven't seen anything as far as deleting older mail. BTW, we're allowed 25 gigs on outlook.com so they shouldn't be deleting them automatically.
