Since upgrading to Lion, it seems every time I open an application, the previous file I had been working on in the application opens, in additionto one I've double-clicked on to edit.

Well this is a truly annoying "feature" in Lion. I just upgraded from Snow Leopard. Every time I open Safari, windows open from a previous session.
I've searched Safari's preferences and can't find anything to disable this. Even emptied cache. No luck. Same is true with certain other apps.
This is not good, for the obvious reasons. Is there any way to disable this? I know about logging in and out, seperate accounts, private browsing, but this is crazy as it requires MORE work not less. Whatever happened to keeping it simple?
After upgrading to Lion I see a check box at shutdown to refrain from opening web pages currently open in Safari. I did that, unchecked it, but they still open. How odd they would make this a opt out scenario - is there a way to make this permanent? I liked the old way where you could go into History and do it during a new session.

Is there anything new known about this situation? Is there any other workaround or trick to try? This is stopping me from being able to install any new software properly. I'm hoping I don't have to wipe the system and start over, but I'm not seeing much choice. Assuming I don't trip the bug during the rebuild process and end up back in the same spot....

Whenever I open a file in 'Preview' (any kind of .PDF, .jpeg, etc.) it opens with 2 or 3 windows; the file that I just opened, and also the last 2 or 3 files that I looked at. Why is it doing this? Whenever I launch Pages, the application opens pretty much all the documents I've worked on. I take care to close all the windows, hoping that they won't launch again next time I start the application, yet they do. I can't find a setting in the preferences or Settings to disable this behavior.

This is my biggest software design pet peeves. I hate when applications make too many choices for the user. Don't get me wrong, I don't like when a program asks the same question over and over again either. So I'm using firefox and I had about four or five windows open. And it froze up for over five minutes so I force killed it. When I opened it again it automatically tried to open all those websites I had open before - all at the same time. This isn't even a bug, it's the designers bad choice. I don't even need them open. I was only still using one. And I don't know which one caused the freeze (probably a flash heavy website like abercrombie) but I certainly don't want to open that one again. I'm trying to get Firefox to not do this anymore.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Macintosh address book does not open. After I click it on the task bar it bounces once and that's it. I've also deleted the icon from the task bar and tried launching it from the applications folder, but I get the same response.
When I open up Mail and click on the address book while composing a message, I can see the entries.
For example, (when Safari or Terminal application is already launched) pressing the dock icon or launching from quicksilver brings the window to the front (or moves to a specific space where the window is in).
Is it possible to modify this behavior to opening a new window? By clicking the dock icon (or some sequence of keyboard shortcuts) I want to open a new window of safari or terminal. Furthermore, it would be great if
this can be done to the current 'space'.
Is there a simple way of doing this?
I tried to launch Safari (version 4.1.2) but it wouldn't open. It just bounced once from the dock and that was it. Today it bounces twice and nothing.I started reading some stuff in mac forums and read what others with a similar problem were saying. They said ichat and itunes were not working either. I tried to check for software updates for Safari from my computer but when I tried that, the software update icon appeared in my dock, bounced once, shrunk and disappeared. It wouldn't open either.I am using firefox currently. I had not used it for a long time, so when I opened it last night, it asked me to update flash. I did. But I don't see how that could be the problem since I updated flash AFTER realizing safari wouldn't open.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnybody have the 12WX working correctly with lion with no previous wacom installed? hooked it up right away with no problems on a leopard mac pro. had working windows xp on virtual machine no problems.with imac lion, would not run the install drivers from disk (PPC). so installed the latest 6.2 driver and a bamboo intuos 3 driver as recomended by wacom. installed driver for pen. the bamboo driver worked for a day or so ( with no option keys working), but had 4 point calibration unlike the two point from leopard install.now, neither are recognizing a tablet connection, only works as monitor. uninstalled. tried an older driver 6.15. ran fix disk permissions, reset pram. restarted(+++). dis and re connected. reinstalled again and again. still no luck getting it running on a new mid 2011 imac with lion.
