I mostly use Preview.app (on Lion 10.7.3) to read and annotate relatively large pdf documents (articles, reports, etc.). While working on a given project I tend to have many pdf files open at the same time. I personally would like to have all of the pdfs I use open in a single window, so I have Preview set to "Open all files in one window" (Preferences > General). This setup initially worked very well since it allows me view all of my open documents in the sidebar (similar to tabs in a browser window). The problem is that when I switch from one pdf to another, the position of the pdfs (i.e., the page I was on when I switched to another pdf) is not preserved. This seemingly defeats the purpose of having this functionality in Preview,is this the intended behavior of this setting, or is this a bug? In either case, is anyone aware of a fix for this? I just want the documents I'm reading to preserve their positions when switching between them when opened in a single window.

For the past month or two, iTunes has been constantly and automatically re-opening whenever I quit it. It's very strange and happens about 3/4 of the time. It's not active, not syncing, sometimes not even playing, etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnybody have the 12WX working correctly with lion with no previous wacom installed? hooked it up right away with no problems on a leopard mac pro. had working windows xp on virtual machine no problems.with imac lion, would not run the install drivers from disk (PPC). so installed the latest 6.2 driver and a bamboo intuos 3 driver as recomended by wacom. installed driver for pen. the bamboo driver worked for a day or so ( with no option keys working), but had 4 point calibration unlike the two point from leopard install.now, neither are recognizing a tablet connection, only works as monitor. uninstalled. tried an older driver 6.15. ran fix disk permissions, reset pram. restarted(+++). dis and re connected. reinstalled again and again. still no luck getting it running on a new mid 2011 imac with lion.

When I close a finder window, the finder menu disappears and then reappears along with the finder window. It looks like finder is crashing and restarting. This started happening after I downloaded a pdf and put it in a folder. Maybe there is a bug in the way finder is rendering the image of the pdf file at the top of the finder window?Â

I purchased the latest MacBook Pro 17" in March 2012 in Australia. Because of "screen issues" I had to take my computer back to the Apple Store where they reinstalled Lion OS 10.7.3. However, I have noticed that my home folder has my married name when before it showed the name I am now using.My account name is correct, it is just the home folder name..I have been looking at other discussions but get lost on step 1 "log in as root."

On her laptop now, there are no previous recipients in Mail. As it turns out, she really needs these. They are on the iMac. I need to move that list from the iMac to her laptop.
I have looked in Library/application support, but can find no entry for Mail or Address book. I know that there must be a file somewhere with this data.

It appears that my apps don't reopen to their last state. For example I can close safari with the red x and when I reopen it safari just goes to my home page. Even if I had multiple tabs open it just opens a single tab with the homepage. Other apps seem to start from scratch as well. I have the restore option checked in system preferences. Both my IMac and my MacBook do this.

I've searched Safari's preferences and can't find anything to disable this. Even emptied cache. No luck. Same is true with certain other apps.Â
This is not good, for the obvious reasons. Is there any way to disable this? I know about logging in and out, seperate accounts, private browsing, but this is crazy as it requires MORE work not less. Whatever happened to keeping it simple?Â
I recently bought a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and when asked to restore files from Time Machine during Setup Assistant, I receive the error "You can't restore this backup because it was created by a different model of mac."Â The machine that I had was a 2011 MacBook Pro 15" and I regularly backed up with Time Capsule using Time Machine. Â
The most important thing for me is to transfer over all of my applications, my iPhoto and iTunes libraries, everything in my keychain, and all of my documents. The reason I'd prefer not to use Migration Assistant is because I don't want to do any of that manually, I'm just trying to find a simple solution that will restore to a previous snapshot with quick, easy steps.Â

I am unable to save documents created on Pages and Textedit on my main "Macintosh HD" after the first save. If I create a document, save it then edit it and try to save again it comes up with  "This document "test" could not be saved" No extra info other than that message.Â
If I try to save onto my second drive, " Macintosh HD 2" (the non-boot drive) it works fine. Â

1/ checked read and write permissions and my Macintosh HD and they are set for "read & write"
2/ I have repaired disk premissions using Disc Utilities to no avail
3/ booted using Cmd - R and used terminal and applied "reset home directory permissions and ACL's" to no avail.Â
