MacBook Pro :: Can't Open Documents Now Have Upgraded To Lion
Apr 19, 2012
I upgraded to Lion last week and now can open documents that are sent as attachments to e-mails? The file seems to download but when I try and open it I have this error message..... The document “BAAF__PAR_2008_Parts_A_-_C-4.doc” couldn’t be opened.
Since I upgraded adobe, I haven't been able to open pdf's directly from websites--I just get a black screen (in Safari, or a white screen in Firefox). I can sometimes right click on the link and either download the pdf or save it as a document as a workaround to enable me to open it.
Since upgrading to Lion, it seems every time I open an application, the previous file I had been working on in the application opens, in additionto one I've double-clicked on to edit.
Whenever I open a file in 'Preview' (any kind of .PDF, .jpeg, etc.) it opens with 2 or 3 windows; the file that I just opened, and also the last 2 or 3 files that I looked at. Why is it doing this? I've looked through the Preview preferences and I can't find anything that sounds like this. How do I turn this off?
Info: MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 2.5ghz, 750gb, Anti-glare screen
I downloaded Lion last night only to discover I can't open my word documents anymore. My original office software for Mac is packed away somewhere (haven't had to use those install disks for a few years and probably won't work with Lion anyway?).
My Preview application on my mac book pro (Lion OS X) won't open any pdf or jpeg documents. It just says ' the application Preview can't be opened. -1712'
I recently installed Lion on my mac and just learned that I cannot open my Microsoft Office documents and spreadsheets (I have Office 2004). If I upgrade to Office 2011 will I be able to open the original Office 2004 documents?
I imported documents from an external hard drive, so they all went on my desk top. then I moved each document where I wanted it to go in application and created folders to each. to get rid of all the icons on the desktop, i put them in the trash. now when I try to open one of those documents in my folders in applications, it says its in the trash. what do I do so I can open a document but so that theyare still in folders and not all over my desktop?
I have a 2007 15" MacBook Pro that I'm trying to clean up to give to my wife, well I think I did a bad thing. As I was going through things to delete in the trash, I accidentally deleted the "All Documents Folder", now I can't get any of the apps to work. I haven't emptied the trash bin. So I thought maybe I could copy them back to my desktop, well that wasn't a good thing since there was like 12,000 files and it really slowed the laptop down. So I thought I would do a complete clean install using the original start up disk. Well following the instruction to restart the computer, after the restart I get a diagonal screen and can't read it because the picture is staggered. So I eject the install disc and restart the laptop and everything is fine, but still can't open anything, because it says app can't is in the trash.
I have not upgraded my Microsoft Office to operate in OS 10.7.2.Thus to open a word or excel document I must first open Pages or Numbers then find the document and it will open.To move to another document I must start over. How can I set a default that always opens the Word or Excel document directly with Pages or Numbers?
I bought a new MacBook Air with Maverick OS X 10.9.4, but now I can't open my old pages documents. What can I do? My old MacBook was pre 2008 so everything is iworks 08
