Software :: ITunes Automatically Reopens When Quit It?
Dec 26, 2007
For the past month or two, iTunes has been constantly and automatically re-opening whenever I quit it. It's very strange and happens about 3/4 of the time. It's not active, not syncing, sometimes not even playing, etc.
I have a problem described exactly at: [URL]. Tried everything suggested at this article, including General settings, Terminal command etc. Problem persists, Preview still opening about 300 pictures and same other documents.
When I close a finder window, the finder menu disappears and then reappears along with the finder window. It looks like finder is crashing and restarting. This started happening after I downloaded a pdf and put it in a folder. Maybe there is a bug in the way finder is rendering the image of the pdf file at the top of the finder window?Â
The program will not quit. When I force quit iTunes or quit it normally, it relaunches almost immediately. I can not shut down my MacBook properly because the program is running and cannot be quit. Anytime I shut down my computer, I have to force it by holding down the power key and iTunes once again comes up on its own after the computer is turned on. It is so frustrating! I hoped that installing the newest version, 10.6.1 would solve the problem but it hasn't. To even install the program, iTunes had to be quit so I had to force shut down my computer, and hurry and move the version of iTunes I had to the trash as soon as I turned the computer back on before the program opened on its own.Still no luck..open iTunes in safe mode but I can't open iTunes that way because I can't even close it before I would be able to open it!

After updating my Macbook air to 10.7.3 my iTunes (10.5.3) will now not quit. It works fine and starts fine but when i try and quit i get the beachball of death. I have to then force quit it.Â
I just upgraded to iTunes 10.6.3 on my MBP running Lion. iTunes is HOGGING my memory and making my MBP run VERY HOT. When i try to quit the process from the activity monitor it immediatley restarts.?

The last 2 days i have a problem with iTunes. Everytime I try to open it, i get the message "Itunes quit unexpectedly". I deleted iTunes and installed it again, but the same thing happens. I am new in Mac so i may have made some mistake in deleting it.
I've been having some issues with my itunes AND adium...for some reason they won't launch, they load for a second and then immediately go to the "....quit unexpectedly" message, when I try to send an error report, it fails as well...I feel like I'm being hacked or something... Has anyone experienced this, more importantly does anyone know how to fix it?
How do I close an application that won't quit and doesn't show up in the force quit dialogue box? I was trying to open Printer Pro but it doesn't show up in the finder and when I tried to put it in the trash it says it can't throw it away because it's open. The forced quit dialogue box does not list it as open. What do I do?
That was supposed to be APPLICATION

When I quit iTunes the window closes and the glowing dot fades out. Then it comes straight back. Also I thought iTunes was now 64-bit? But Activity Monitor says its 32-bit.
My itunes randomly, even after several restarts and re-installations, won't open and always says that itunes has "unexpectedly quit". I don't know what to do. This is what the error reads:
I was watching a movie that I rented on iTunes and it froze halfway through so I closed iTunes and forced quit it but when I opened it again my rented movie didn't even show up (this was within the 24 hour rental period, it's only been 4 hours so far). Is apple allowed to do this or is there something wrong with my account?
Whenever I try to open iTunes I get this message saying that iTunes quit unexpectedly while using the libcrypto.0.9.8.dylib plug-in. It did this a few days ago so I tried re-installing iTunes and it worked after rebooting but it didn't work this time.
i'm new to the forums and new to macs so i really have no clue how to fix any problems on the mac growing up i always used a mac but for the past 6 years i have been using a pc. so long story short i bought a used mac to kind of dink around with and for some reason Itunes keeps quiting unexpectedly. I also tried to download limewire and it loads up to 6% then it just sits there. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone give me some tips I cannot figure this out.
After I moved my ITunes to a new Mac, some of my songs, the ones I've noticed so far are longer ones, quit playing part way through and then go to the next track-

I have a problem with songs I brought in iTunes. If I play them, some of those songs quit after a few seconds. Delete the songs in my iTunes and then download them again in iTunes? The album I brought is Alex Goot: In Your Atmosphere.
I downloaded Madagascar 2, and it billed me for it. But the download never finished, it frozed, and I force quit itunes and when I restarted the application, nothing was there. Does anyone know how I can redownload it?
I did a software update, and now Safari, iTunes, and just about every other application (software updater, pages, etc.) won't launch! When I click on them I get an error message "The application quit unexpectedly".I just got my macbook, and it doesn't work
For the past couple of weeks we have had a problem with itunes causing the computer (an iMac running OS X 10.5.5) to freeze and we can't even do a forced quit, but must turn off the machine manually. This seems to happen specifically when we are in the itunes store, not just working with the playlist. The computer has also frozen when in safari - the last time when we were trying to copy a page into Word. We thought it might be a wireless connectivity problem, but I have switched to an ethernet connection and still have the same problem happening.
I cannot open iTunes. Message "iTunes quit unexpectedly". It only opens for about 5 seconds where there is a message about restoring windows, which makes no sense. I have shut down, restarted, checked for software updates. I am running OS 10.7 (lion).
I get this massive error message: Process: iTunes [1312] Path: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes Identifier: com.apple.iTunes Version: 10.6 (10.6) Build Info: iTunes-10604001~1 [Log] .....
My iTunes icon has gone AWOL from Get Info and the Force Quit, but it shows up find in the dock and the application switcher.Â
In Get Info, I also can't click where the icon should be (e.g., in order to paste an icon back in there). [Tried to insert screenshots here, but the upload won't work — the Insert Image button stays gray]Â
Dump finder cache and/or prefs? I've already verified and repaired permissions recently (2 days ago), I've also recently deleted several caches using Onyx, in the process of troubleshooting some pinwheel and freeze problems.
all of my devices are recognized by itunes and it starts as normal. after a few seconds the cursor starts spinning and nothing else happens. i have to force quit to exit itunes.
iTunes won't quit when I ask it to do, and thinks it is syncing my iPad even when it is removed physically also. How can I make iTunes quit without enforcing, because then, after restart attempt, it says that it can't startup by lack of access to a locked item.
I have way too many 320kbps files and i'm fine with 192kbps songs. Is there any way to let iTunes automatically re-encode my songs to 192kbps when i import them? And when they are lower (128kbps) just leave them?
