Mounted SMB share does not show in sidebar and is unavailable to some apps (itunes, chrome). Shares do show up when browsing computer. Where should I start? This started after upgrade to 10.7.3

I'm not able to connect to a windows share on a Windows 2003 server with my AD username and password. I'm running OS 10.5.8 from a MacBook Pro.The AD credentials work from other Macs on the network running 10.4.11 but it will not connect from mine. I've added a virgin user account and had the same problem from that account. I've reinstalled the operating system with the same failure. AD credentials allow me to log into the Exchange server via Entoruage.
My Mac is not bound to AD and neither are any of the other Mac workstations in our group. The message I get after entering my username and password in the Windows dialog box is usually "The volume could not be mounted ". In the Console log the following entry pertains to this but it's foreign to me, CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary.
I just got a new harddisk and have been trying to get it functioning properly today, the problem is the following: Drive is partitioned in HFS+ using macdrive7 (installed on my system). It does show up in windows very easily thanks to the airport utility, however, it shows the file system as being fat32. I formatted the disk in HFS+ on purpose to be able to storage large files in the network drive, so this is a problem. Also, the disks show empty, although i already put some files on the disk for testing purposes, this was done when the drive was connected directly via usb. Does anyone know how I can get windows to show the drives as HFS+?

When I show the sidebar in Preview it lists page, type, date, and author, but does not display the words in the annotations!With a long of annotations that only identify themselves by "Text", it's laborious to find the note one is looking for. (One has to manually step through each one at a time!)

Short of copying to a jump drive, is there a better way to share TV shows that I purchased and are in my iTunes library on my iMac with the iTunes library on my iBook G4?Both computers are on the same home network and home sharing is turned on in both iTunes library's.

I just installed Lion on a machine that I use daily. One of the routine things I do is connect to FTP servers and search their contents to then collect files and process them. I was unpleasantly surprised when I found that I was simply unable to search the FTP server, it simply doesn't bring back any results.Â
I tried on 2 other Lion Macs and both have the same symtoms, one of the other 2 macs is brand new out of the box (3 days old)Â I had to downgrade to Snow Leopard to return the machine to a useable state.Â
Is Apple aware of this issue, is there a workaround? I prefer to not install 3rd party FTP apps. In fact, I tried Transmit and it too would not search but I assure you that the host of FTP servers I login in to are just fine as any other PC or Mac (10.6 or inferior) work without any problem.Â
Has Apple changed something? PS the mac I tried it on was even cleanly installed, nothing but Apple SW and fully up-to-date.Â
I'm wondering if there's any way to get the artwork iTunes uses for TV shows for programs that I manually convert and ad to my library. Does anyone know of a method?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have some audio books that i have on CD which I ripped and they show up under the "music" section on the sidebar in iTunes 10.5.3 (3) even though I set the genre to "Audio book" (in "get info") How can I get it to appear under the "books" section like audio books purchased on the iTunes store? It's really annoying to be playing my music library shuffled and then have to skip through audio book chapters. I realize that I could make a playlist with only music, but this seems pretty counterintuitive as I'd have to update it every time I added a new song.

My wife and I have separate user accounts on the same MacBook Pro so that we can both sync our phones to this computer. My account is the primary user account, and my iTunes library is stored in this account. My wife would like to put music on her iPhone so she can run, but I can't seem to access the music library thru her account. I know the files are all on the hard drive regardless, so I just need to know how I can make iTunes on my wife's account access the library that's there.
