Applications :: Safari 4 Disable Private Browsing?
Sep 8, 2009I want to disable private browsing in Safari 4. I already managed to do it in Safari 3 following Mac Guide instructions (http://guides.macrumors.com/Safari#D...ivate_Browsing).
Now I want to do the same in Safari 4. I also downloaded the newest XCode. However, again following the above mentioned instructions I only get an error message saying that it can't open "nibs".
I'd appreciate any help!
[please don't start a general discussion about private browsing. Doing it in Safari 3 was the perfect solution for me. I really love this forum!]
OS X :: WiFi Connection - Slow Browsing With Full Bars Signals
May 26, 2009I'm back at my dad's place for the summer and I'm trying to connect to his house's wireless connection on my MacBook. It seems to connect okay when I type in our 10-digit password next to "WEP 40/128-bit hex" in the drop-down menu, but then even with full signal bars, it loads browser pages very slowly if ever, usually just giving me a timeout error and it's the same thing across all programs, my instant messenger takes forever to connect, WoW takes forever to connect, if ever, basically the internet I get from this connection is useless. It's odd because both my sisters have MacBooks and the internet works fine for them at my dad's house when they connect, and MY internet on my computer works perfectly when I'm using any WiFi but this one. By the way, the transmitter is a "D-Link 514 2.4GHz Wireless Router" and we're connected to cable internet.
Update:
* I have tried resetting the router and that didn't help.
* I have tried changing the channel, authentication method and password and that didn't help.
* I tried a DNS troubleshooting guide and it doesn't appear to be a problem with that.

May 1, 2012Is there a way to disable or hide the sleep button at the login screen? I am trying to send updates and/or commands from ARD.... But the end users are putting the computers to sleep by pressing the sleep button. This is causing the ARD updates/commands to fail. The computers and severs are all Lion OSX. If I can disable the sleep button at login then I can send the updates/commands. I normally only do the updates/commands when there is no user logged in.So I am not concerned with the case where the user is already logged in and puts the computer to sleep. I have already setup an MCX in WGM for the Energy Saver.

Feb 1, 2012I used MacbookPro(2011 8,2), after install update 10.7.2 include today 10.7.3, all system will go freeze every time I click full-Screen button. it freezed in go full-Screen animation, and always played half of the animation and freezed. I find out if I used my AMD 6750 GPU, all problems are missing.

Mar 24, 2012I consider this an oddity in Lion. I have two monitors. If I have Mail open in the left one and let's say Address book on the right one, and I put Mail into full screen mode, the other monitor goes gray. So no way to have one monitor in full screen mode and still use the second monitor!

May 5, 2012I installed Lion yesterday. I cannot take Mail window out of full screen mode. There is no double arrow in the upper right corner. I hate it being this large. In fact, I don't like this Mail program at all. Moving the cursor up does not do anything. No Menu Bar appears. The only way I can get out of Mail is command Q.

Jun 23, 2012I have a strange problem in fullscreen mode, on my Macbook pro 15".I LOVE fullscreen, and infact the next macbook I will get is the 11" air because of its size and because full screen is so nice to work with.Suddenly the menubar will not display it self when I move the mouse to the top of the screen. The only way I can access the menu bar is by exiting full screen (ctrl + Cmd + F) and the toggel it back on after I have used the menubar.This actually makes fullscreen mode useless and its driving me nuts, because this should not happen on Apple software. I would expect these sorts of behaviour on windows but not in osx.

May 23, 2012How to stop pages opening in Full Screen Mode?This occurs on most software and is very annoying when you have a large monitor with one small picture taking up the whole screen.PLUS trying to reduce the size of the screen means the cursor has to find a tiny one pixel area in the corner in order to reduce the screen size. This takes up a lot of time when working on several images.(enlarging the cursor size is not an answer and makes it worse because it's hard to exactly align the cursor with the text or else it edits the wrong line of text).

May 27, 2012when using apps in full screen mode the spotlight shortcut cmd+space doesn't work anymore.
E.g. safari in fullscreen mode, I tap cmd+space and nothing happens, if I move the mouse on top of the screen the bar appears and cmd+space is restored

Apr 27, 2012I seem to have the following problem. not sure exactly how it started as my wife was using the mac at the time (she says she just dragged the safari to different desktop via mission control) but now the situation is as follows:
When I hit safari icon it switches on (I can see the little light dot underneath the icon and after right click I can see names of windows that are opened) however I can only see the Safari menu at the top but no window. If I scroll to the right or left to different desktops it's not there, the same goes if I double tap to see the Mission Control mode it's not there...
I so far figured out that once the Safari menu is visible on top of the screen I can go to View>Enter Full Screen and then Safari will come back into the full screen mode but once I unclick the full screen button in right top corner the whole window just swoops into the right top corner and it's nowhere to be found again.

Jan 20, 2010When I have my brightness at a certain setting and then start playing a game, the brightness jumps to full. When I then press the button for less brightness, it jumps immediately to the setting it was originally.
This also happens whenever I do alt+tab to return to the desktop. So it appears it happens when I do something that requires to switch to full screen mode cause it also happens with other programs.
At normal use, surfing, office,... this problem does not occur. And also it doesn't happen under OS X

MacBook Pro :: Line Across Screen Appeared While Browsing?
Mar 21, 2012I see several posts about a line across the screen suddenly appearing. The only advice seems to be to get the computer replaced. I'd like to avoid this, obviously, as it leaves me without a computer and with a lot of work to do reinstalling software on a new one. I have not had any problems with the computer, then I installed the firmware update a few days ago (I think it was an update from February? -- something like an "IOE update"?)
This morning, I closed the monitor and the fan kept running for minutes. I opened it up again and clicked "apple" > Sleep. And the display shut off. But the fan kept on blowing. Finally it shut off. But then it started back up. This happened several times. Finally I shut off the computer. Now, Sleep appears to work fine again.
Then this evening I was browsing Reddit and when I clicked on a link, suddenly a row of pixels went out (see picture). I, at first, thought it was some weird pop up. But it persists through restart, and permission repair, and logging in with different users. I tried playing with new desktop backgrounds. This worked at first, then, for some reason, the computer wasn't accepting new desktop choices. Logging out, then back in fixed the problem. But that is sort of weird too.
Are these issues related? Most important to me right now is this line across the screen. Incidentallly, at first the line was of varying shades of gray. Now it appears to be black.Is there a way that Apple can simply put my current hard drive into a new computer for me? This is a late 2011 macbook pro.

Oct 21, 2008My father owns one of the original G5s, so its power pc not intel. Today while browsing an excel spreadsheet he says part of the screen turned black, then the monitor shut off, then the monitor came back on but not video. Mean while the fans started spinning out of control. Now when he tries to turn it on, he gets power, but all that happens is the fans spinning faster and faster and faster until he turns it off. No video or anything. Just speeding fans. He fears the CPUs died since they control the fans. Any suggestions? He also says the fans were spinning unusually fast these last few days.

Jun 10, 2012Well this is a truly annoying "feature" in Lion. I just upgraded from Snow Leopard. Every time I open Safari, windows open from a previous session.
I've searched Safari's preferences and can't find anything to disable this. Even emptied cache. No luck. Same is true with certain other apps.
This is not good, for the obvious reasons. Is there any way to disable this? I know about logging in and out, seperate accounts, private browsing, but this is crazy as it requires MORE work not less. Whatever happened to keeping it simple?
MacBook Pro :: Unable To View Full Screen Mode / Second Screen Turns Black
Sep 16, 2009So I have a DYNEX 21 inch HD TV conected up to my MBP via the VGA connection route. My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.

Jan 2, 2011I recently upgraded to a Macbook Pro 15" with a mini displayport, and I decided I would share my LCD monitor with my windows box. The desktop box is connected with DVI and I have connected my Macbook through an HDMI adaptor from Moshi. Everything works very well, and I'm pleased with the quality of the output, but I'm having trouble with a screen flicker in full screen games.
When I select full 1080p (1900x1080) in any full screen game, the screen "shudders." It does not occur on the OS X desktop, and I can only explain it as a shudder. Lines and text shift perceptively left and right, and the game is unplayable. I have experienced this problem in Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft, and Half Life: Episode 2 so far.
Could the problem be with my monitor and the way it handles an HDMI signal? The Macbook is flawless otherwise, with no other issues of any kind. The "shudder" only occurs during full screen games set to 1900x1080. Lower resolutions are not effected and work fine...
I'm stumped.
Edit: I should add that I have no other 1080p capable devices to test the output with.
ITunes For Mac :: Half Screen Is Black When Watching Video In Full Screen
Sep 10, 2014As the headline says the right half of the screen turns black when watching video content in iTunes on full screen. I can see the whole picture when moving the mouse a little but as soon as the navigation bar disappears the right half of the picture disappears too. It does not matter what source it is. Both podcasts and movies work (or do not work) the same.
The problem doesn't occur for other player (VLC, XBMC etc.).
I have the latest OS (10.9.4) and iTunes (11.4). The computer is MBP 13-inch retina, late 2012 if it matters.
