Whenever I make a window full screen, it always moves to the end of the spaces. I have 4 spaces, so my full screen windows always move next to the 4th space without me doing anything.

I have been using virtual desktops (VDT) for years and I often work 14 to 18 hours a day on my mac..
I can reorder my spaces in MC but that seems to be about all I can do and it really is ******* me off.
I need to be able to drag a single window from 1 space to another space where I already have another application running. This was TRIVIAL in SPACES but seems impossible in MC.
example: I have a text file of notes in vi in one VDT and in another I have a browser window open to a customer location where I need to use or add to those notes with some complexity. I want to move that notes window from the VDT that it is in (because there are other apps there) to the current VDT so that I can easily use the notes and the browser together. I do NOT want to have to make the stupid vi window in ALL spaces. How do I do this?
another example: I have a browser with multiple tabs and I want to move ONE of them to another VDT. I can pull the tab to make another window.. But I can't move just that tab to another VDT!! How can I do that?

When I have my brightness at a certain setting and then start playing a game, the brightness jumps to full. When I then press the button for less brightness, it jumps immediately to the setting it was originally.
This also happens whenever I do alt+tab to return to the desktop. So it appears it happens when I do something that requires to switch to full screen mode cause it also happens with other programs.
At normal use, surfing, office,... this problem does not occur. And also it doesn't happen under OS X
I'm thinking about installing Windows 7 on my hard drive using Bootcamp. I'd like to know if in the future I decide to remove windows, am I able to remove the partition and revert back to the full hard drive space or not?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchsed and set up an Iomega Storcenter ix4-200d NAS with Time Machine support.The NAS has 8 TB storage total, with ~4.6 TB available.I have TIme Machine support turned on in the Storcenter, assigned to a folder called "Time-Machine." In my OSX Time Machine preferences, I select the "Time-Machine" folder on my NAS as the back-up disk, and my Mac connects to it just fine.The challenge is Time Machine returns an error saying there isn't enough space on the backup disk to complete the backup.For some reason, Time Machine is only recognizing 536.36 GB of space available on the backup disk, even though there are ~4.6 TB available.I tried manually moving my iTunes media folder (~700 GB) to the "Time-Machine" folder on my NAS to see if the Iomega NAS was arbitrarily setting a max size to a Time Machine folder.I was able to manually move just under 1 TB of data to the same "Time-Machine" folder that Time Machine says only has 536.36 GB of space.
I tried deleting the Time-Machine store on my NAS, turning Time Machine support off, then turning it back off and creating a new "Time-Machine" folder.I did this several times and still get the same behavior.I even tried running Time Machine piecemeal, excluding larger folders at first and running a back-up, to see if maybe Time Machine wasn't liking that large of an initial backup.This worked, and then I gradually removed some exclusions and ran back-ups again, so each back-up size was never more than 200 GBs or so. However, after several back-ups, I received the same error message saying there wasn't enough space on the backup disk when the total sparsbundle size reached 536.36 GBs.Since I can manually move more than 536.36 GB of data to the backup disk, I'm guessing it must be something with Time Machine not recognizing the full space available on the NAS.

We have installed a very new Mac mini 2011 with OS X Lion Server and we added four users there. This four users should share their calendars with each other so the system is designed as a CalDAV- and CardDAV-server. We have set up all necessary nameserver entries, installed all updates.
On our Lion workstations (Mac pro) we connected iCal with our new Lion Server, works like a charm, but only for two days.
Since yesterday we get 403 errors on MOVE (only). Means one creates a new entry at the calendar and try to "move" this entry to another users calendar. Immediately after storing we get "Server reports error" and "Answer: 403 in action CalDAVMoveEntityQueueableOperation" (translated from german). At the servers logfile we found only one entry per move which says:

The clients can conect to it (win).I would lice to have some Mac clients and will setuped Lion server an in Open Directory I have set to connect to another server. Then in Directory Utility I will set the connection to AD Server over Connect in File menu and I have only error mesage "Can't connect to the server - Directory Services may not be installed on the remote server, they may be turned off, or the URL may have been entered incorrectly." and then I try the connection over Services - Active Directory and have error mesage "Authentication server could not be contacted." too.

It seems to make arbitrary choices when opening new windows, often placing new windows floating over fullscreen without switching spaces or opening them in other spaces underneath fullscreen apps so I can't find them. Sometimes it switches to a clean Space whist the window opens in a different Space altogether. I'm running Adobe software- CC '14 applications so I don't know if this causing the problems but most of the issues seem to be with the finder and apps that actually run fullscreenBP
I'm running a MBP with an external monitor- it's a one monitor set up, not dual so it shouldn't be causing the issues I'm having. I like the idea of spaces running fullscreen apps and windows- the tech has a lot of potential but seems crude and irrational presently.

I used MacbookPro(2011 8,2), after install update 10.7.2 include today 10.7.3, all system will go freeze every time I click full-Screen button. it freezed in go full-Screen animation, and always played half of the animation and freezed. I consider this an oddity in Lion. I have two monitors. If I have Mail open in the left one and let's say Address book on the right one, and I put Mail into full screen mode, the other monitor goes gray. So no way to have one monitor in full screen mode and still use the second monitor!

In fact, I don't like this Mail program at all. Moving the cursor up does not do anything. No Menu Bar appears. The only way I can get out of Mail is command Q.

I accidently did something that made Safari go full screen and the top navigation with the Apple icon, File, Edit etc, menu disappeared. I pressed esc to go back to normal viewing mode.

I have a strange problem in fullscreen mode, on my Macbook pro 15".I LOVE fullscreen, and infact the next macbook I will get is the 11" air because of its size and because full screen is so nice to work with.Suddenly the menubar will not display it self when I move the mouse to the top of the screen. The only way I can access the menu bar is by exiting full screen (ctrl + Cmd + F) and the toggel it back on after I have used the menubar.This actually makes fullscreen mode useless and its driving me nuts, because this should not happen on Apple software. I would expect these sorts of behaviour on windows but not in osx.

How to stop pages opening in Full Screen Mode?This occurs on most software and is very annoying when you have a large monitor with one small picture taking up the whole screen.PLUS trying to reduce the size of the screen means the cursor has to find a tiny one pixel area in the corner in order to reduce the screen size. This takes up a lot of time when working on several images.(enlarging the cursor size is not an answer and makes it worse because it's hard to exactly align the cursor with the text or else it edits the wrong line of text).

when using apps in full screen mode the spotlight shortcut cmd+space doesn't work anymore.
E.g. safari in fullscreen mode, I tap cmd+space and nothing happens, if I move the mouse on top of the screen the bar appears and cmd+space is restored

I just switched from Oultook 2011 to Lion Mail. I have 2 different accounts, Office 365/Exchange 2010 and iCloud. I noticed that when I reply to any message while is full screen mode, the reply icon is not showing up. The reply icon is the curved arrow pointing left for replies.

I seem to have the following problem. not sure exactly how it started as my wife was using the mac at the time (she says she just dragged the safari to different desktop via mission control) but now the situation is as follows:
When I hit safari icon it switches on (I can see the little light dot underneath the icon and after right click I can see names of windows that are opened) however I can only see the Safari menu at the top but no window. If I scroll to the right or left to different desktops it's not there, the same goes if I double tap to see the Mission Control mode it's not there...
I so far figured out that once the Safari menu is visible on top of the screen I can go to View>Enter Full Screen and then Safari will come back into the full screen mode but once I unclick the full screen button in right top corner the whole window just swoops into the right top corner and it's nowhere to be found again.

My Mac Mini says it has a 56-or-so GB hard drive, and that about 54 GB of it is used up. If I try to use a program like JDiskReport or OmniDiskSweeper to find out what files are taking up so much space, they only find about 20 GB worth of files. I have only one partition on the hard drive. What else could be taking up so much space?
