Jun 27, 2010I'm using a 4GB 2.4ghz Mac Book Pro and Leopard 10.5.8 Earlier I was using Mail to type a quite long email and I noticed it started to slow down and become unreponsive - I thought it was because I had too many other apps open, so quit them to free up memory... it didnt work so I quit the App - Now when I open it the email I was writing appears but I just get a spinning beachball if I try and do anything - I've never had any probs before with it and have used it as my mail client since I bout the machine in April 2009.

Since the last time I've successfully used the Mail App, I haven't installed or downloaded anything. BUT I did notice that the next day my MacBook couldn't wake, I had to manually restart it.

Nov 17, 2008Yesterday I tried to send a Quicktime movie that I made with iMovie as an attachment to an email. I knew something was wrong when it kept "sending" for hours. I could not get it to stop, no matter what I tried. I used Force Quit on Mail: no effect on the spinning circles. I shut the computer down and then restarted. Signed into Mail--> still had spinning circles. I took the mailboxes offline and then put them back online: spinning circles remained.
I deleted all of the outgoing messages several times, but whenever I came back, they reappeared. I shut off my computer overnight. This morning the spinning circles are gone, and a static circle remains, and I am unable to send or receive email. What can I do? I have four Mac mail accounts and they all have important information in them. How can I unfreeze my mail? BTW, the gmail accounts that go to the mac account are ok--it is just the "@mac.com" accounts that are frozen. I cannot find this in a search.

Sep 4, 2014I am on mac laptop OSX 10.9.2 using Mail 7.2. I tried to open a "Mailer Daemon" message and it is frozen, not even open but a grey colored blank "message". I've tried: closing the message unsuccessfullyForce Quitting the application (reads "Mail (not Responding)") when I do. (4 times)Turning off the entire computer, letting it rest and rebooting. (3 times)Opening up my server on the internet and deleting the offensive message "mailer daemon"Turning off the computer again.Â
So...as soon as I open mail, the grey "message" is open. I can click on the Mail Viewer window and have that come forward, but all is frozen.Just did it again and it hasn't changed. Had to force quit again. Never before in 8 years of using the Mail application (different computers). The rainbow wheel of death spins and spins.Â

Hardware :: Stopping The Lag On The Video When Loading Websites?
Jun 25, 2010I have an airport extreme with a 1TB seagate external connected to it. I watch videos on my macbook pro (late 2009 model) through the wireless. The video works fine and has no lag or freezes. But when I open safari and load up a site or use skype, while watching a video, it starts to freeze and lag a lot when a site is being loaded. Everything is fine when I hook up an Ethernet cable on my macbook.
Is there anyway to stop the lag on the video when im loading websites?

Jun 10, 2012Ever since I purchased my Macbook Pro over 3 months ago, watching videos has been very slow. It doesn't freeze, it just takes a really long time to load any video from youtube or any other website. Â
My internet speed is fine as I have another laptop (Toshiba running on windows vista) and video loading is really quick and don't have to wait for a video to completely load as it is already fast. So is the problem the Macbook or internet connection?Â
My Toshiba laptop is wirelessly connected to the internet though (Connected using ethernet cable). However, the macbook is wirelessly connected.Â

PowerPC :: Web Pages Loading And Streaming Video Slow
Mar 17, 2008I'm wondering how much life is left in my 900 MHz G3 iBook (v2.3 with 256 MB). I only use it for web browsing, word processing, and minor media storage, but it's definitely showing its age. Web pages take a while to load and streaming video's too slow to be usable. Would a RAM upgrade solve this, or is it even worth the investment?

Apr 19, 2008I have a macbook pro running 10.4 on it, and ever since I've restarted my computer yesterday (it was starting to slow down a bit, but its better now), every time I try to load any kind of streaming video on any browser, it crashes. Not hang, but your average annoying run-of-the-mill "crash reporter" crash. I've cleaned up all my caches, private data, etc., same for the system, I've checked for viruses, I've reinstalled the browsers, and the flash player and a few other things I can't remember right now. One thing that has occurred to me is that this has occurred no matter what browser or company that created the browser software (like mozilla). Could there be a plugin thats interfering with the software?

Mar 22, 2012I've been getting frequent warnings that the Dashboard Client has unexpectedly quit, but Dashboard itself continued to work until yesterday. Now, however, it doesn't respond - it's frozen at 2pm yesterday according to the clock.Â
I've trashed the dashboard plist and dashboard client plist from Preferences, but to no effect. The dashboard plist recreates itself, but the dashboard client plist does not recreate itself, so there is no longer anything there in Preferences for me to trash in this respect.Â

May 27, 2012I updated the other day and now I can't do anything. It will open some programs but will not really run anything. It is completely frozen. I can't even restart it. I have hard restarted it a few times and that didn't help.

Feb 9, 2012I've just instaled Lion with new hdd and new ram, no problem for 2 days and then frozen screen , with flickering paterns, lines etc after using firefox for two minutes. Problem going on and on again.
I guess only the screen is frozen since the computer is not automaticaly restarting and the fan are still running as usual, the only way out is the power buton. I've tried every comon tests and haven't spoted anything yet. I don't know what to do!Â

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Screensaver Frozen On IMac After Going To Sleep?
Feb 18, 2012When my IMac goes to sleep, the screen saver is "frozen". The only way to get to my login accounts is by "cleaning" the screen with my mouse. It's as though the screen is not refreshing itself after going to sleep and whatever the last image was, it stays. However, it's not locked up or anything. I just need to move my mouse around over the login accounts and it slowly clears away the screen saver so I can see where to click to log in. I've tried disabling the screen saver, but have the same results. Something is causing the last image to freeze on the screen when the monitor sleeps.

Apr 17, 2012It does not register when new programs are opened. They open, but there is no indicator light under them. Programs that are not open anymore still have an indicator light. Also, I don't have any notifications for email or other messaging programs even though I do have new emails and messages.

Jul 4, 2012My macbook desktop is frozen, only desktop. Everything else works fine. I logged into my other account on the computer I have, the desktop is fine, I can right click the desktop and it will bring the menu up, however, on the side that I use frequently, I cannot right click on the desktop, NOR can I drag anything to the desktop. All my software is up to date, I tried booting up in safe mode, I also used the force quit and relaunch, restarted computer many times, still nothing. Also weird about this is that itunes deleted itself earlier today, I had to re-download and install it again. The problem is happening since then. Finally, I read somewhere I may need to re-boot my computer with the lion CD; however, I don't have the CD I downloaded from the app store!

Jul 4, 2012My software update is frozen and I cant get it off. I can't quit the update and I tried restarting it but every time I try it says to try later because the update is running. So I have tried letting the battery die thinking that would restart it but when it started back up again the update was still stuck. The loading bar is still up there and is solid not moving strips. Jul 31, 2009I HAD Gmail and Mail working perfectly, until i sent an email too "large" for someones Yahoo inbox.
All **** broke loose, ended up starting from scratch. Have done now 10 times.
Everything seems to be working fine, i'm getting emails through etc. But, next to my Gmail mailbox is the constant loading circle; either the Pie or the Spinning spokes thing.
The loading circles change every time i open Mail, although they are CONSTANTLY there and won't budge -

What does this mean? Im so frustrated because i had Mail up and running fantastically before the attachment mishap, now its refusing to go my way. It functions fine from what i can tell, just the loading circle (both instances) is getting on my nerves!

But I can't get to my Internet accounts nor Icloud, since it couldn't load the preference pane. I've done the diagnostic tests before and haven't heard back from Support all summer.

Apr 25, 2012Suddenly on start up from sleep mode I have prior windows of my email client and my browser (Entourage and Chrome) frozen. I have both of these set as start up items and new versions will open and are operative but the old windows for both remain like a screen shot. Along the menu bar is a 'ghost' image-a menu bar in faded gray and slightly blurred- behind the exiting one that is operable. I have repaired permissions, re set pram...it will not go away or move. I am on mcp OS 10.7.3. Have not installed anything newm in last few days.
