I was running java 1.6.0_33 on my Mac Lion and later I installed java 1.7.0_05. Now in my Java preferences I see both the Java SE available.Now my problem is when I enable Java 7(& select Enable applet plug-in and Web start applications), my JNLP file doesn't run with java web start, from Safari as well as Firefox. When I try running the jnlp using Open With option and selecting Java Web Start present in /System/Library/CoreServices, nothing happens.Â
When I try running the JNLP file from Terminal suing command /System/Library/CoreServices/Java Web Start.app/Contents/MacOS/Java Web Start xyz.jnlp I get following errorÂ
Java Web Start splash screen process exiting... Can not find message file : No such file or directory.Â

Got a hairy one here that I've been working around for ages.....perhaps someone has a real fix for me. If I try to print (or save as a PDF) from a particular web site with THEIR Java "print" button on the web page, Safari crashes. Upon restart of Safari all is well. It stays ok until I re boot/restart the computer. Then the same thing happens. After the first crash of Safari everthing is a-ok. The print function from the Safari menu does NOT crash - it works all the time. sam P.S. Intel box with Safari 4.0.4 and OS X 10.6.2.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSince the flurry of 2012 updates, Java is completely broken on my Mac Pro. Java dependent apps don't start and Apple Support says to enable the apps in Java Preferences. Nice idea, but Java Preferences WILL NOT LAUNCH either. There were plenty of tools to address flashback and they DID NOT break normal day to day operations.I downloaded the package from support to try a re-installation, but it says "A newer version of Java is already installed" and offers me the option to Close. No reinstall, nothing. Apple support is at it's usual level of service on this issue, completely INVISIBLE.Â

On a couple, but not all, of my financial institutions webpages, I can't download the statements and save them as pdf. When I click the pdf link, a page opens showing the statement, but to see it all, one has to scroll the screen. When I try to print it, by clicking File on the toolbar, the pulldown menu gives me only the option of Print Largest Frame which prints only what is visible on the screen in the window. When I try to save by going to File, then Save As, a window opens for print options giving me two format choices: Page Source (html) or Web Archive, but no pdf. The statements never download, nor open as pdf.Â
What is odd, is that this issue is not common to all financial institutions. On some, the statements read, load, save, and print as pdf just fine. I have updated the Adobe Reader, and all software on my Mac.Â

I have a Macbookpro operating Mac OSX 10.6.4 and I use the Safari browser. I use Easyjet a lot and have had no problem printing/downloading boarding passes - until recently. The two last times I've traveled (within the past 2 weeks) I have been unable to print or download. My partner has no problem using her conventional laptop with the same booking reference.

Since that time I've had problems with WebEx and a file transfer site I use. WebEx gives me a "Sorry, you do not have java download client enabled." everytime I try and start or join a meeting in Safari, Chrome, and FireFox. The file transfer site won't let me log in using either Safari or Chrome. I've been able to log in using FireFox, but I haven't tested if everything is work all right. I went to the Java preferences app and changed the order or 32/64 bit. I also thought perhaps some cached files could have been corrupted so I deleted the cached files. But other than that it doesn't seem like there is anything there that does much.Â

I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer! Â
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.Â
I made a Java applet with Xcode 3.2Â and i load it to firefox or Safari(Yeah i've updated my java)and for exampleÂ
i made a HELLO WORLD simple applet to be in black color letters, then compiled and yeah it worked but then i redid it for the letters to be red.. and they kept being black..no matter how many times i recompiled the applet.Â
And yeah the HTML is pointing to the correct class file. Also, If if i add a Thread and implement runnable.. then nothing shows up in the canvas.Â
And also, what ever happened with the appletviewer application? We don't have that anymore.
now the only way to run applets is through a web browser. Â Is java applet developement in 10.6 really over?
