OS X V10.7 Lion :: Getting Error 36 When Emptying Recycle Bin

I deleted some files on 2 external drives and cannot empty the recycle bin. When I disconnect the external drives the files disappear in the trash. When I connect the drive the files appear in the trash again. I cannot move them to the desktop, that only makes a second copy.I have downloaded and used Trash It 5.0. I have held the command button and delete button and used secure trash removal. The files are still here. How do I remove them?

Trash won't empty. I have had dropbox application and removed it, and now want to remove the dropbox folder I tried resetting the PRAM as it was expressed in one of the topics but it didn't work the files are stuck in the trash and when I go to empty my trash it just gets me emptying and doesn't want to move further than that.

I have deleted some Time Machine backups.backupdb folders from my backup volume into my trash and now I can't empty the trash. The volume with the backups.backupdb data was getting full and I wanted to give it more space. Now when I attempt to empty the trash on my iMac, I get the error code -8003. I have searched online and can't find a solution. Does anyone one know how I can empty my trash?

I am using a totally legal Microsoft office for Mac. I do not set to share any thing from my Mac to anyone. I got this warning in the log and I do not know whether there is any problem with it. I am a bit paranoid if any spyware/trojan that is trying to open backdoord connection to steal data from my Mac. I also sometimes found some strange files in the recycle bin that named something like "recovery" but it turned into something else when clicked on the files.

My iMac 27" Lion hangs up emptying trash. This happened a few days ago and tech support helped unlock it, but I forget the keys they told me to press when I restarted it, to start it in a safe mode. Control or option then something else.

When I empty the trash in Lion it takes forever. There are 15000 -20000 files in the trash. They look to be coming from the Time Machine backups. Everytime I clean them out they come back.

I was at the genius bar today because my mac was really sluggish. We discovered after lots of exploration that my trash appeared to be performing exactly correctly but in fact there were 900 files in there that had never actually been deleted. This created a disconnect between the trash and the system so it was slowing performance significantly.

After emptying the trash, I've noticed that Lion does not see the additional free space until after doing a reboot, and even after that it takes a long time for it to find all the new free space. Anybody know what's wrong with the trash system?

I have an application in my recycle bin that won't go away! It is insisting that it's in use. I've tried restarting my computer a couple times and have had no success.
Is there some way to tell what's using a particular file or something? Or perhaps some way to force the recycle bin to empty? It's really getting annoying.

As I was trashing folders and apps and other stuff while looking for an answer to my Dock problems, I discovered that Trash doesn't seem to act the same way my old PC recycle bin did. There is no function to restore anything; rather, it seems you just open the trashed item. (Also seems that you don't delete in Finder, you just "move to the Trash," is that the same?) Can you trash a program App and simply change your mind and reinstall it from the Trash?

Yesterday in school this girl had a Windows laptop and we were sitting close to each other in the hall. I noticed she was deleting files and after a few (I think big movie files) Windows told her it was too big to fit in the trash and asked her if she wanted to delete it permanently.

For the last week I find that after sending an email with attachments that it remains in my draft box after sending. The mail shows up in the sent box, but it never get's deleted from the draft box until I resend it. This is happening on both my MBP and iMac. Both machines connect to iCloud for mail.

Whenever I start the Mac, there is always a folder named "recovered files" in the recycle bin...even though the bin was empty before previous shutdown. There is a "wkresources" in the folder. What is this? I really want to see a clear bin when start. Can I do something to change that?

When I try to empty my recycle bin it tells me that there are some locked items, so I select the option to empty all items. It starts emptying it but then it stops without telling me what the issue is. I have about 1,000 items, what can I do?

I keep getting "Open error 18446744073709551594: “Unknown error: -22”" when trying to repair disk permissions. When I boot in recovery mode and try to repair the disk I get the message that the disk can't be repaired that I should back up my files and reformat. Since I hace been hearing about the Flashback trojan I am not sure if it is because my Mac is infected or simply because I somehow messed up with my HD. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Will it be any good to reinstall Lion? Is there any way of avoiding reformatting?

I am going to remove the Superdrive from my 2009 mini and replace it with a second HD as detailed by ifixit [URL] I will then run OS X from the X-25M SSD and the second drive will be a 320Gb Scorpio Black which I will run XP in boot camp from ( have to use additional internal drive to boot XP from since the X25-M currently will not work with XP and I cant get XP to boot from an external drive...). This leaves my setup without a way to work with optical media so I was looking to get an external usb drive and plug it in whenever I would need to install something from a dvd, or burn a cd etcetera.
Instead of throwing away the removed superdrive though and buy another drive, how about recycling it as an external usb superdrive? I would connect it via usb with a Deltaco sata to usb adapter I have. Anyone see a reason why this would not work? Has this been done before?

I tried to move a load of unwanted iTunes files to the recycling bin, but missed! They duly loaded onto the desktop, then the computer hung (there were only about 3,000 of them, by the way!) What can I do to put my little baby's desktop right? On a related issue, my recently purchased G5 dual desktop refuses to acknowledge my G4 (which is in firewire 'target disk' mode') I have connected 6 pin to 6 pin.

I wanted to delete a file in my dekstop, but i can't delete it.. It pops out a message like this "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8072)."I have used "rm -rf" this kind of sudo, but it doesn't help. I can't even rename it also.
