Intel Mac :: Error Code -8003 While Emptying Trash?
Apr 10, 2012
I have deleted some Time Machine backups.backupdb folders from my backup volume into my trash and now I can't empty the trash. The volume with the backups.backupdb data was getting full and I wanted to give it more space. Now when I attempt to empty the trash on my iMac, I get the error code -8003. I have searched online and can't find a solution. Does anyone one know how I can empty my trash?
Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
I am trying to empty my trash and I keep getting the error code -8003 on a popup window with the option to stop or continue. Even when selecting continue in does no continue. Is there a way around this or another way to erase the trash.
I just want to know how to empty my trash because I keep getting this message saying " The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occured (error code-8003) I tried looking this up and couldn't find any refference regarding it.
I moved a number of folders from a back-up drive (using Time Machine) to the trash, and have had no success in getting them out of the trash. Option+Empty, Option+Secure Empty Trash, after using Disk Utility to repair permissions and then try again, and the TrashIt! app.. nothing is working. I'm not in need of the space, I just want to get rid of the items. as I can't even find 'Error Code -8003' anywhere.Â
While trying to Securely empty trash, I get an error code -8003. The trash bin now has about 2 million files to empty. The large number of files are due to transferring numerous time machine back ups files to be deleted after a partial LaCie hard drive failure.
I'm trying to empty the trash on my iMac (running Snow Leopard) but I just get an error message: The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 8003).Â
I have a ton of crappy on my computer and external drive, so I'm trying to erase it but the trash won't clear...I keep getting questions about removing unlocked files and then the 8003 error code. I dnt know what to do other than erase the hard drive...
I located the time stamped backup, selected my hard drive, then did "RESTORE".The first thing that happened was a message that it was preparing to copy to 'volumes'It got to about 3823 items when I got the error code 8003. I wanted to restore my entire iMAC to that stamped date-time.

When I try to empty my Trash with a certain app in it I get error code -8003. I can't find reference to that code anywhere and do not know how to clean up the trash. "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)."

I get this "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)." when i attempt to empty the trash. It gives me the option to STOP or CONTINUE. Nothing happens when I select CONTINUE.

Also trying to remove files from trash by moving to an external hard drive but rather than "move" files the files are "copied" so I cannot free up any disk space on the Notebook's HD!
I moved the files from my external hard drive from the back up files made by Time Machine into the trash, as I've always done. This time I get an error message (error code 8003) and am not allowed to move the files back onto the drive or out of the trash, even after changing the permissions. I've searched the support forum for error code 8003, but find nothing that relates to back up files.
After dragging some Backup Files from my My Book External Harddisk to the trash I tried many times to empty the trash but I am constantly unable to do so in order of faultcode -8003.

Copied files to an external hard drive and then deleted them from mac HD and empty the trash. I then went into disk utility and made a second petition for external hard drive and it deleted all the files on the external hard drive. Is there a way to recover the files that were on the extra the hard drive or from the Mac hard drive?
My problem is that I can't empty my trash, I've tried every solution I've found on the internet, but none of them actually work. When I try to empty it, I get the message that the items are in use, but it is practically impossible, because they are some text files, but with weird extension in the filename's end, for example:Â
notes_102_331_2012-(ABC).txt/Zone.IdentifierÂ
There are like 30 files like this, and they are in a folder called "Notes", but every time I try to empty them, I get the message that they are in use, although everything is closed except finder. I've tried to rename the files, but then I get the error code -43. The folder itself can be renamed, but that doesn't work. When I try to move the files to another folder or drive, again: error code -43.
I have deleted some files and folders and moved them to (Trash). I'm going to remove them from Trash but error code 36 appears.please help me to fix this error. I have already used dot_clean command in terminal to fix it but it did not work One of these folders are empty but I can't remove it.I even can't send it back from Trash.
I was trying to back-up the HD Library file and it would not perform an update. I kept getting an error message for each item in the folder could not be updated. So, I took the HD versio of Library and put it in the TRASH, then tried again to back-up this version of Library. The same error messages occurred. I then put that error message screen into the trash, but it would not TRASH. A 'Copy' screen pops up with the following messge:Â "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred [error code -8062]."Â
