I'm aware of how enabling sFTP support in Lion Server by enabling SSH access in the Hardware settings.
Now, if I do log in using sFTP in Transmit client Software with a normal user account who should be able to access via SSH but got only permissions for the "Public" folder on the Server, that user via SSH/sFTP can see/access the root Directory of the server anyway!
how to set specific folder permissions to users using the enabled SSH/sFTP option?

I was wondering if I have the ability to set my download preferences for my Mac (I'm running Snow Leopard -- just installed it yesterday!) to send certain file types to specific destinations. For example, I want to set up several folders so that when I download a .gif or .jpeg file, it will go into my "Pictures" folder. Also, as I download .pdf files religiously for my academic pursuits (which just so happens to be in the field of religion...), I'd like to make a specific "Articles" folder to have all .pdf files download into it. I hope this makes sense.

She doesn't need to see my system tweaking tools and DVD conversion software, and likewise, I don't need to see her BlackBerry Desktop software and Facebook album tools. Currently, all apps reside in HD/Applications, as is default. My question is: is it safe to simply copy all applications into HD/User/USERNAME/Applications, or is this going to cause problems will existing file structures?
View 2 Replies View RelatediPhoto has duplicated all my photo folders, so that searching for "holiday 2009" comes out with two difference results. One in the original location I put the folder, and another inside the iPhoto package.
Is there any way of hiding a particular folder or telling it to ignore anything inside iPhoto's package? So that I only end up with one result.
Finder constantly expands the same couple of folders on my external drive. The folders have hundreds of photos and scrolling is a pain. I 'unexpand' them and disconnect the drive, then reconnect, open it and the exact same folders are open again. Very, very aggravating.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using KeyXing on my "old" G5. This was the best keyboard shortcuts generator I ever used. It was simply perfect to open some specific folders and put the window on the foreground using the keyboard only.
Sadly, KeyXing is no longer supported and doesn't work on Snow Leopard.
What is the best way to open specific folders using keyboard shortcuts ?
ok, say i download a jpeg or mp3 or whatever. is there a way so that when i download the file, it goes straight to a specific folder that i determine beforehand? i've seen chrome do this
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow I can sort my files within folders in a specific order? Not in alphabetical order, size, date, kind etc...but in an order that I want them in (documents from school to be exact, I would like to sort them in the progression of the lessons from week to week). I never knew how to do this at the time and now I am kind of learning how to sort all of my docs within Finder, but this seems to be the first stumbling block that I've come across?

I faced an odd behaviour by the Signatures feature in Os X Lion. On two specific PDFs that come from the very same source, my signatures have a vertical alignment instead of horizontal as they have on all other PDFs.Â
I did not do any specific tweak to the PDF or to Preview before facing this behaviourÂ
I have a folder full of PDF's that I need to print. I saved a custom printer preset that I need to use. It specifies two sided as well as stapling. When I try to batch print through the finder (select all and print, or drop into the desktop printer), it does not use the preset that I created and there's no prompt to change it. I've also tried opening them all in Preview, but Preview processes all the docs as one print job. I need each one processed separately to that stapling applies correctly. I've also tried other tips about opening the CUPS printer page and setting default options. The office finisher settings of my Xerox do not show up on that page.

I wish to use the Time Machine function to backup only one specific folder on my computer, the DROPBOX folder. How can I implement this and inform Time Machine of my choice?Â
According to my first investigations, I only have the choice to select folders to EXCLUDE. This makes the setup of Time Machine unconfortable.Â

Recently I've been unable to get past the 'maintenance page' of a specific website in order to logon. I've been able to use it without any problems using my macbook pro previously, but now I can't figure out what has changed. I can logon from other computers but its just mine that's not working anymore.

I appreciate Mail's efforts to streamline the inbox by grouping emails into conversations based on the subject. However, when I search for a specific string in an email, the search returns the conversation of grouped messages and does not indicate the specific point in the message containing the text. In the case that finally prompted this post, the conversation contained 50-odd emails, since all of them contained the appended text of all the previous exchanges in the chain. I am then left with the task of scanning through 50-odd emails, whether they be separate or all retained within a single message, for the particular string I'm after. And that defeats the whole point of searching to begin with.Â
So, am I missing some functionality that overcomes this? Really all I want is for the search to return not just the email, but the location within the email (or chain of emails) where the text is found. Returning 50 hits because each email contains the text somewhere in the lengthy history of the conversation, without actually showing me where in the conversation the text appears,
I usually have several desktops open, and want to have a separate Finder window open in whichever desktop I happen to be working in. But it always opens in a desktop where it's always running. Then I have to go get it and put it where I want it.Â
Is there a key combination that lets me override that default (if that's what it is) and let's me open it where I want it?Â

I am trying to use Business Objects through the web and unfortunately Java 7 is not compatible. I was able to downgrade to Java 6u65 (Java 1.6.0_65)Â but I really need update 45 to get Business Objects to work. Terminal code and/or a download that will allow me to pull out Java version 6u45? (Java 1.6.0_45)?Â
I've been on here trying several other's codes and it says permission denied or "unable to find any JVM versions matching 1.6.0_45"Â
Could that mean I don't have version 6u45 available to me period?
