View 1 RepliesI am trying to write /Users/xxx to a Lexar 8g flash drive. Its size is under 1g. I can easily put subfolders onto the drive, but if I try to feed it the entire home folder it tosses it out again. I don't know how to use Finder to reach the /Users folder, where xxx is just a subfolder, but I can do this from the terminal command line; however, then I got stuck on how to proceed: I tried to mount /dev/disk1 [which diskutil shows as its name]; each variation I'v tried runs into some problem: disk busy, not found, etc. I was using sudo commands, so I don't think it's a permissions problem.

I haven't been able to copy files from my downloads folder to Font Book, or more importantly, copy files from my jump drive to a folder on my desktop.I also can't copy images from a CD to my desktop. All instances give the error message window "The operation cant be completed because you dont have permission to access some of the items." I should have permission to copy everything, but I'm wondering if in the case of the fonts, the new Lion OS prevents you from using fonts without a license (even if they're free??) pretty clueless

I have a problem on my 2011 Macbook Pro with OS X Lion on it. One of the problems is that since I have updated to the latest software updates as Apple recommends, I have noticed that copy and paste no longer functions. I used the keyboard shortcut of command + c to copy but no longer does OS X paste now with the use of command + v. I tried also to the the trackpad in highlighting, double clicking and select copy and then paste it still doesn't work and is so frustrating. Don't know what to do now.

I have two Virtual Machines running on my MacbookPro. One is Windows and the other is Ubuntu. The Windows 7 system is running perfectly well but the Ubuntu VM has got issues with dragging/dropping files from Mac to Ubuntu and vice versa.When I checked on the Parallel Desktop's forum, the only solution provided was that the Parallel Desktop's tool should be uninstalled and reinstalled; which I have done. But that didn't solve the problem. The Configuration menu "Virtual Machine" offered checkboxes for the (Copy & Paste) section, and I can confirm that both boxes for 'Share Mac Cipboard' and 'Preserve Text Formatting' are checked. That should have solved the copy/paste problem but didn't.Â

I was one vacation for 6 weeks and I was the only one that had a computer so we put all pictures on it. Long story short. When my dad tried attaching his external drive IPhoto wouldn't let him copy the pictures and Os X didn't read the flash drive he gave me to try. Another piece of information that might help is, that my laptop is the only Mac in my family, everything else is windows.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a hard drive on my 2008 MacPro that's problematic and so I bought a new drive and installed Mavericks on it and am booting just fine on the new drive. There is however, one folder in the Library/Preferences folder that I need to copy over to the new drive. All the tricks for accessing the Library folder work great on the start up drive, but I can't seem to access the Library folder on the old drive (both drives in the MacPro as it has 4 drive bays), even though the drive will mount. How can I see that Library folder on the old drive? Note while I can mount the old drive, I can't boot to it.Â

It showed it was transferring them then the screen went blue and nothing responded. I shut down the computer and unplugged everything but now when I turn the computer back on it shows my home screen and I can see the mouse icon moving around but I am unable to 'click" on any of my programs and get a response.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a sandisk cruzer and i finally decided to uninstall the u3 software, so i copied all my files to a folder on my desktop and then used the removal tool. now i can't get some of the files back on. all of the loose files that i had on the flash drives went back, but i cannot get any of the folders that i had on my flashdrive back on. i used to get a -36 error, but after i reformatted my flash drive, now i get "The operation can�t be completed because you don�t have permission to access some of the items."

I have downloaded Lion to my Macbook Pro. We live in a rural area and are on a "low speed" high speed internet connection, so it took me ~24 hours to download. I have not yet begun the installation process, and have copied the installesd.dmg from the install folder to my desktop. We have 3 macs in our house, and I don't want to have to try to download again, as the process is so slow. Can I just copy the installesd.dmg to a DVD or flash drive to install it on the other 2 macs?Â
If this is possible, do I have to do anything special? Can I install from the flash or DVD or do I need to copy onto the target mac first? Although both other macs are backed up using time machine, I'm a little nervous about just launching an installation without really knowing what I'm doing.
I am recieving an error message when I try to copy new files (images, documents) to mac from flash drive/SD card. The message is saying "operation cannot be completed because an item already exists with that name." They are brand new therefore not the same name? I cannot even put them in a brand new folder..

Chronosync is regularly telling me that certain attributes are not exactly the same and wants to sync them. does anyone know why a file copy from one drive to another would not be exactly the same? I am using Mac OSX 10.5.5.
