OS X V10.7 Lion :: Cannot Open Or Access MS Word Docs Or PowerPoint
Apr 10, 2012
I downloaded Lion onto my Mac, and now cannot open or access any of my Microsoft word documents or Power Points. Is there a fix for this? I need my documents.
I have a new iMac with MS Office for Mac 2011. When I go to finder and click on a document the computer opens all word docs. How do i stop this behavior?
When I try to open a Word document I receive the following message "Word cannot open this document. The document might be in use, the document might not be a valid Word document, or the file name might contain invalid characters (for example, /)."Â
Info: MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Since I updated the latest software on 2/2/12, Office For Mac doesn't work correctly. I can not open Excel or Word documents from Office. I cannot save a newly created document. However, I can open an exsisting document by going to the hard drive and double clicking the document I need. I can't save changes I make to the document once opened.Â
I have hundreds of Microsoft WORD docs, and just updated to Lion. I am informed they are no longer supported. What is the easiest way to bring them up through Pages?Â
Cannot copy to MacBookPro or open InDesign docs from external disk.Error code -36 and -43.They appeared to be locked.I unlocked in Information, but receive the same message."The operation can't be completed because one or more required items can't be found."
All of a sudden my tiff files that still could be previewed two weeks ago, before an update of Lion, won't open anymore in preview and powerpoint. The files are not corrupted, since photoshop opens them normally. Anything know about a bug in latest lion version?

Suddenly today I can't save my Word docs. An error message comes up along the lines of check your network connection. This strikes me as a bizarre messge for this programme.Â
Suddenly I'm not able to open any MS Word 2004 docs because I keep getting the message "There is not enough memory or disk space to run the converter EPS Import". There is over 78 GB (out of 148) of memory left on the HD and I haven't installed or changed anything at all. I've done a Disk Verification in Utilities (grasping at straws?) and all is well. I'm working with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and MS Word 2004.
how do i delete word and excel files i no longer need? i have tried to highlight and press delete and i have tried the drag and drop and that hasn't worked for me either?
I have some MS word documents on my MacBook (intel) that I'd like to transfer to my white iBook. I tried plugging an enternal HD into the iBook (that HD contained the docs) but the iBook said that the HD wasn't compatible with it. So I went back on my MacBook and transfered the files from the HD to a memory stick.
However when I plugged that in and tried to open the files, MS word opened but the file did not. The word files are Word 2007 and on the iBook is an older OS9 version of Word. The iBook has Mac OSX panther on it, but the MS word opens in "classic mode". Any ideas on how I can get the docs to open on the iBook?
When I try to save a document I get the following error message no matter how simple the document name, even if it is one letter:Â
This is not a valid file name.
Try one or more of the following:
* Check the path to make sure it was typed correctly. * Select a file from the list of files and folders.Â

I am trying to wipe my MacBook Air but I fear when I do so I will loose my Microsoft word and power point. Is there anyway to wipe the laptop and not loose this software. Also, I don't have the cd keys for the Microsoft.
I upgraded my operating system to Lion without realizing that it would instantly render all of my MS Office files for Mac useless. How do I resolve this? Do I need to downgrade my operating system to Snow Leopard or is there another way to get my files back and be back at work?
I just downloaded OS X Lion and it says Ican't open the application Microsoft Word as Power PC applications (?) are no longer supported. I badly need my word docs!
I downloaded Lion last night only to discover I can't open my word documents anymore. My original office software for Mac is packed away somewhere (haven't had to use those install disks for a few years and probably won't work with Lion anyway?).
I just tried to open Word and this message appeared - 'You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.' I just recently loaded OS X Lion does this mean my software for MS Office is now out of date? Do I have to purchase a new package?
