How do I access my Word and Excel documents when I download Lion?

I downloaded Lion onto my Mac, and now cannot open or access any of my Microsoft word documents or Power Points. Is there a fix for this? I need my documents.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm looking at moving over to the Mac in a couple days and i just need to know the best free Word Processor that can open .doc files. 99% of my docs made in Word are of the 97-2003 variety and not 2007's .docx.Â
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my laptop to Lion. Now I can't access any of my Word Documents. I 'got' around that by opening them up in 'pages'. HOWEVER, I can't access my emergency records organizer (where I keep all my bank account info, IDs and passwords, etc.) Is there a new application in Lion that allows me to to store this data? I'm not real happy with Lion right now, because half of my life/documennts were Word documents that can no longer be opened-unless I want to open EVERY last one of no fewer than 1,000 Word docs in 'pages.' Not only did I pay to upgrade to Lion, but I'll have to pay for another version of Word. Macintosh is on my___list right now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to access the function keys for word processing commands. I want to use one key command, not two. I am presently using a Macally keyboard that is several years old. (I like the feel for typing.) System preferences allow for one key commands, but do not work with this keyboard. Would a newer keyboard work? E.g., the Matias OS X Keyboard? or the Macally iKeyS?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I do not have Microsoft Office for my mac but I am looking into it as I will be going back to study soon and know I will encounter problems when it comes to transfering documents from my mac to a PC with Microsoft software. However I really love the mac application 'Pages' for personal projects so I am just wondering if I can still use it alongside Microsoft or I must give it up?

I apparently didn't read directions too much to see it would no longer support. I am willing to buy new Microsoft word so it's supported if I can do so. Any suggestions or tips would help. I went to App Store to purchase but I have no clue on what to buy. Nothing on my computer that is MS is supported. I just need to be able to email some documents to other people that is MS word and write my papers on ms word. Â

I am contemplating upgrading my MacBook Pro (2011 model) from Snow Leopard to Lion. I am concerned about the level of strong criticism about Lion, especially the comments that MS Word and Excel (and Powerpoint?) cannot run in Lion. What is the full story? Can I run MS Office products by reloading them into Lion environment?

So what to do? And when I try to open a password protected (Word) document, the message is: Import error. The Word document is password protected and cannot be imported. So what to do?Â

I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.7 i am working on Word 2008 for Mac, version 12.0.1 (080305).
My problem, i created one text box in a document, somehow 2 more appeared. I made the mistake of thinking that to delete the extra text boxes, i simply highlight them and delete them. Silly stupid me, nothing that simple exists and i have wasted an hour trying to figure it out. The help button does squat, barely gives you any info on a text box much less trying to delete it. Does anyone know how to delete a text box in a word document?
My university wants us all to use RTF files. As I am sure you all know text edit sucks. But it automatically opens all my RTFs.I have to manually get word to open them which is a pain in the ass.How can I fix this so that all RTF's are automatically opened by WORD?I am still on the old version of word because I have to use ENDNOTE - which has no support for Word 2011 right now. I have a copy of 2011 sitting on my desk and I am itching to use it, but I will loose 200+ citations if I do.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPerhaps this has been answered before but nothing turned up in my search. I'm a Mac convert switching from MS XP, where I was using Word 2007. Over time, I compiled several special dictionaries. If I switch to Office 2008 for Mac will I be able to transfer these from Word 2007?
I understand that Word for Mac does not ahve VBA support, therefore no macros like in Word 2007. Does office 2008 (Word) have some sort of macro capability.
I have a MacBook. Last week I bought Microsoft Office for Mac. I would like to open documents sent in Word to be opened in Word. But my mac converts them to Pages.
