OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Keep Getting Message Java Not Active?
May 15, 2012
I have Lion 10.7.4 and Time Machine does not connect with ethernet disk due to 'failure required AFP'. A problem I did not have with 10.6.8. Apple, what did you do and how can I fix this.
I can't install Java update, not via 'software update', nor via download from Apple support site. Always get error message at 'writing scripts', even with the camera update. Same thing happens when trying to re-install Adobe flash-player, which I had uninstalled after virus threat. Seems I can't install anything anymore. I had previously uninstalled everything Java in Safari and run Mackeeper duplicate eraser.
I made a Java applet with Xcode 3.2 and i load it to firefox or Safari(Yeah i've updated my java)and for example
i made a HELLO WORLD simple applet to be in black color letters, then compiled and yeah it worked but then i redid it for the letters to be red.. and they kept being black..no matter how many times i recompiled the applet.
And yeah the HTML is pointing to the correct class file. Also, If if i add a Thread and implement runnable.. then nothing shows up in the canvas.
And also, what ever happened with the appletviewer application? We don't have that anymore.
now the only way to run applets is through a web browser. Is java applet developement in 10.6 really over?
Trying to print from a web site (only one) and I get a message "Java Not Installed". It is because I can find preferences. I imagine I need to change one but don't know what. Suggestions? OSX 10.5.8
I am having problem with post processing a simulation. Every time I hit the "plot parameter" button within the software I get the same error. Opening the file on a windows machine works perfectly fine, therefore I have tried updating the Java through "Software update" and still no luck.
Here are the error details:
Exception:java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: apple/laf/CUIAquaComboBox(rethrown as com.femlab.util.FlFatalException) Messages:Fatal error.- Type: NoClassDefFoundError
Fairly often I'll change focus to a different app by pointing at it and tapping on the trackpad, or command-tabbing to it, the title bar will change to show the app I selected is now active, and I'll start typing...and the typing goes to the previously active app. Say, for example, I'm looking for something in a finder window, then command-tab to firefox, then command-w to close a tab. Instread of the tab closing the finder window closes. Yet, firefox is the active app. It's not a matter of slowness in the interface, either, I can be looking at firefox, see the title bar is active and the traffic lights in the upper left are lit, hit command-w, and something else on my screen disappears. Happens several times per day. I get characters intended for the search field of iTunes instead going to a cell in Excel all the time, or command-h hiding the wrong app, or control-tab doing who knows what rather than changing tabs in firefox, or....
This has been happening since about the time I got a magic trackpad in September 2010 (if I recall), but I can't imagine it's a problem with the trackpad since it happens when I change apps with command-tab, too.
Our users logon to our 2008 Windows Domain and their windows home folder comes up as a folder called 'Work' on the mac taskbar. This is fine. When they open Microsoft Word e.g. and do a save you can't see this 'Work' folder in the Finder tree. Do I have to set up some kind of script - I just want a shortcut to this 'Work' home folder in Finder....how can you put one there automatically? Is there any easy way so if they save to their mac 'Documents' folder it just get's re-routed to their 'Work' folder?
As above really! Its really frustrating. It bounces in the dock as though it is about to start. It then brings up a box that asks if I would like to report it to Apple, which naturally I do.
My friend suggested uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its no good!
Its ever since the update to Java. Anyone else had similar problems?
The support doc for the recent Java update (Update 8, for Snow Leopard), entitled "About Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 8," advises the following: If you do not use Java applets, it is recommended that you disable the Java web plug-in in your web browser. How does one know whether or not they use "Java applets"? urls....
I've been having some troubles, all of which occurred after installing Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 7. Here are two I've found so far:
1. Terminal takes quite a long time to open new tabs.
2. Quicksilver hangs (and eventually crashes) when I try to type any type of text to search.
When the applications hang, no keyboard input is accepted in any application, though it is possible to use the mouse to move windows. how to revert back to Update 6?
I'm doing technical support for mac users of our java application. One user's problem is that the app doesn't launch. At first, I thought his version of java is not updated but told me that it is updated based on the Software Update. Then I thought the problem's here is that the JRE's not turned on so I made him open the Java Preferences. But sadly, this doesn't open too. I made him gave me the logs on the Console to check the error.

tried to download the recent patch from Apple to protect against latest malware attack, but getting message that the install failed when I tried to update through standard software update in system prefs
I am noticing that the Java applet in Chrome often crashes since I updated Java a couple of weeks back. Also, Chrome downloads the frame of some Web pages only, without the central part of the page which presumably is Java-dependent.
I was doing google searches yesterday, and I clicked on a link, and a site opens a whole bunch of pop up windows, you know how it is..so I quit Safari altogheter. After that I kept doing google searches, and I noticed that when I clicked on link a specific site of an association that is legit, it redirected me to one of those shady pharmacy website. So that was weird.I reset safari, came here, then I got the anti flashback tool, my mac seemed cleared. I got clamxav. I checked www.dns-ok.us. It all seems fine.I don't install things on this machine, I had a new hardrive installed not long ago.Do I have the latest Java, do I need to update? this is the Java version i have -build 1.6.0_31-b04-415-10M3635
The latest software update for Mac OS X (10.6.8) upgraded the version of java from Apple and broke an application used for work. Are the previous or older versions of java available from Apple for download?
For future updates, Is there a way to modify the software update process to install the the new version but leave the old version in place?
I am running an open directory/active directory network. Authentication is from the Windows server 2003 active directory. It has worked fine until the last month. Now clients stop authenticating & when I check the AD plugin it says network accounts are not available. I can force the server to unbind, then renew the binding & everything works great. Is there any work around or fix for this other than upgrading the windows server to 2008?
Once or twice recently I have had the 'Bad gateway' message. It's only been on the screen when in Apple Community pages. Prior to these events I have never before met this message.
I'm using Mail 4.5 and have a group of people I'll need to email regularly, most of whom aren't in my Address Book. Is there a simple way I can create a group with these contacts in it from their addresses on the last email I sent them? I don't want to enter them all into my address book inidividually.
As I was unable to upload pictures in the original thread I started a part tow. Original is here:

OK so did you type the title of your e-mail or any other unique text that relates to the mail here? Next you need to select 'All Mail' in the search tab. Next add a Folder colum to your search results and see if it shows up there.
if you now delete the found mails they will appear again in the deleted mail folder. from there you can delete them again etc. Did you do this and they are gone? And you are on a POP account?

I have Microsoft Messenger for Mac 7 and when I send an instant message to someone offline I always have....the following message could not be delivered. This happens when they send me an instant message when I am offline. When both online everything works fine. They are using a PC... I am wondering what the problem is and how to fix it.
Everytime I'm trying to run a java based app, I get an error message saying that I have to install Java first but there's no internet connection - when there is one (I'm connected to wifi internet at all times and it's not like the connection disconnects when I try to open the app) I can't even access the Java settings because the same message pops up. I checked my browser settings (I use Chrome) and Java is enabled.
