Jul 2, 2012Why does my system keep rejecting my (correct!) btinternet.com password for mail retrieval? I can still get them via BT Yahoo, but I prefer the mac mail. It's happened out of the blue- I've switched the system off and back on, but still...then I've reset my bt password, but nothing....

Apr 3, 2012All of a sudden I am not able to attach files to my emails. Whether it is a jpeg or an invoice from Quickbooks as a pdf, it will not attach. A friend suggested that I drag and drop onto the email and that would not work either. I am on a Mac / operating system is 10.5.8.

May 15, 2012I am losing random incoming emails in my .mac email address. I first discovered it last week when my wife was getting emails that I was copied on that I never got. Checked inbox, trash, junk, iCloud and never could find them. Then today, just by chance, I had to verify a link via that email address. When the verification is sent, I see it hit the inbox with the new email counter and then it immediately disappears. I have disabled all my Apple Mail rules and Smart Mailboxes. As I mentioned, I have checked everywhere I could think of that it might be going.

Oct 21, 2010I just configured my Gmail IMAP account in Mail.app. In the Settings > Labels section of Gmail, I unselected the "All Mail" label. In Mail.app, I chose the Gmail > Trash mailbox and then "Use this mailbox for Trash" from the Mailbox menu, and did the same for Spam and Drafts.
Now there are no mailboxes listed in the Gmail mailbox, but it still appears there at the top of the mailbox list with a little triangle next to it. When I click on the triangle to expand, there's nothing in there - but the mailbox won't go away. It's an off-white color whereas all the other mailboxes are the standard bluish color.

Mar 5, 2012I just deleted all my e-mail accounts and created a new one but when i reply some of the emails keep being sent from the old account. I looked everywhere to find some setting linked to that old account but i can't find it.For example:

and when i reply from the second one sometimes it's being sent from [url]..and this adress isn't in my accounts anymore.

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.

Apr 7, 2012It seems it should be easy enough to delete a mail account! But I cannot. I highligh the mail account I want to delete, control + click and ONE of the options is DELETE MAILBOX. I have clicked it over and over again, I get a message like "are you sure?" Since I am I select DELETE, not cancel. And I just cannot get rid of this mailbox.Â

May 14, 2012In Apple's OSX Mail app, I've got a mailbox that connects to an server that is no longer valid. That is, the address no longer works.  I'd like to have Mail stop checking that address. But I'd like to keep everything as is otherwise, if possible. In Mail preferences, I tried unchecking "include when automatically checking mail" -- but the account still gets checked when I hit "Get Mail" manually. I tried unchecking the box for "enable this account", too, but when I do that, all messages in that mailbox seem to disappear. Are they saved anywhere? I don't want to lose them and I still want to be able to search them.Â

Sep 29, 2009Maybe I'm a dumbass and missed something obvious, but in Leopard Mail, in the New Message window, there's a drop-down menu where you can choose which email to send the message from. But in Snow Leopard, the drop-down menu's not there, and I can't figure out how to choose which email address I want the message to be sent from. The only way I could do it is to click a message sent to that email address, then click New Message, the message will then send from that email address.
