I've just got a new phone and im having trouble syncing it to my macbook. Normally it's just a case of getting the plugin and ar she blows but according to the internet the new isync has disabled most of the old plugins. I know I can get them with nova media but I don't really want to spend more money on it... Does anyone know of a method to make plugins work again or know of anywhere I could get one? Actually, while were on the subject, does anyone have a clue why apple updated isync, removed half the phones and disabled loads of plugins for seemingly no reason??? just me and my mad rants
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Nokia 3120 classic, I was able to fin a plug in that will replace one of iSyncs metadata.plist list of one of the Nokias, and then it will sync and everything will work fine in Leopard 10.5 Now that Ive updated to Snow Leopard it just wont, even if I do the previous proceeding. My macbook paires with the phone, and the phone with the MB, but neither iSync or File sharing via Bluetooth work

My son's Nokia 5230 has happily synced with my Mac since July 2010, however since March we have been unable to sync. Each time we try we get the following message - "Monday, 16 April 2012 16:41 [Nokia 5230] Device is not available or synchronization was canceled. Close dialogs and applications on the phone and try again. Device “Nokia 5230” synchronization failed."

I am using OSX 10.6.8.
I would like to create an archive of important application installers and I will sync the contents between two systems MacPro and Macbook Pro.
I need to pull the names of the application/developers from somewhere so I figured I would use the Application Support directory.
So I need a way to copy this directories folder structure without any of the file contents. Is there an easy way to do this. I found a post with an Automator script but the link is dead [URL]
I also found this post that refers to doing it in terminal but since it is the app support directory I am wary to do this as I am not familiar with terminal at all and I am not clear on what exactly to write in the old_dir / new_dir section. I figure it would be something like this /Library/Application Support but I dont want to make a mistake.
Here is the Terminal command:
cd old_dir
find . -type d -depth -print | cpio -pd new_dir

I need to re-install iSync in Leopard ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 10.5.2, I have found that it is impossible to launch iSync, from either the dock or the Applications folder. iSync will do one bounce on the dock, and no more, then disappear. I have repaired permissions by booting up with the Leopard disc. I have created another account and logged into that account.
Here's where it gets interesting. Only users without my account name can run iSync! I can create as many permutations of users, and they can all run the application, but as soon as a user has MY name as an account name, I can't launch iSync! iSync refuses to launch on any account with my name What the heck?! Does it know me by name? Ihave a Macbook 2.0 CD2. I am running standard Mac OS X 10.5 + iLife '08 + iWork '08.
It keeps telling me to open iSync so that I can sync my address books. I have no iSync. It's not in my apps. It's not on my computer. Can't find where to download it.

For some reason i've deleted or uninstalled isync from my computer.
Now i'm trying to get it back. Does anyone have an installer for it (os 10.5 version)?
I've copied the app from another machine but that doesn't work. Am left with 'syncing disabled- in the menu bar so quess I need the full installer.
I've already checked Apple.com and it's not available (it's listed but when pressing download it redirects to the downloads page of the site)
Need a quick answer, as I'm poised to get an HTC Hero.
My question is what are the support options for iSync?
Will iSync recognise it straight off ( doubt it )?
Are there third part developers offering a fix?
I had permission troubles, but iSync was working perfectly. I repaired all permissions with Leopard, then upgraded to Snow Leopard, now when I try to open iSync, I get this message:
iSync can't be launched.
The sync manager is not available.
I have a clean install of Snow Leopard and am trying to get some of my automator scripts working. Under Leopard, I could right-click on the desktop and select one of my workflows from the menu under Automator. Now, there is no ~/Library/Workflows folder in Snow Leopard and Automator doesn't have the Save as plugin option anymore. Does anyone know how to use automator scripts in Snow Leopard that doesn't involve opening Automator every time?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem since I upgraded to SL and I'm finally looking for a solution, as it's mildly annoying So anytime I'm opening up a file browser window within an app - say, to upload or save a file in Firefox, or to open a file in any old program - I used to be able to navigate to a folder on my keyboard by typing the first letter or two of the name. Now, however, when I try to do that, nothing happens except the Mac makes that dull "thud" sound. Now, if I navigate inside a folder (by pressing the right arrow key) and then go back out (press the left arrow key), then it works like a charm. But what a pain!
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I right click a folder and select "Compress", it goes to about 99% and stalls... Doesn't budge, no beachball, it just doesn't move forever. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.2, anyone else having this issue? I did a clean install.

I accidentally took my downloads folder off of my dock, and I figured out how to put it back on and use the settings I want. However, for some reason now .mp4 files won't appear in the stack or in the actual folder in Finder. They appear in the Safari downloads box, but not in the stack or folder. It's kind of frustrating, because it makes it difficult for it to find what I need.

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, when I send mail using Apple Mail, the message remains in my Drafts folder even though it's been sent successfully. Using Gmail with IMAP setup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedApple's new OSX Snow Leopard includes native Exchange email sync using Exchange Web Services but it seems that this does not sync emails in the same way outlook does: emails on Mail.app only update when you open a specific folder on your exchange mailbox (like IMAP does) and not like Outlook on windows where folders are updated in the background. does anyone know about this behavior and if it can be changed on Mail to work in the background? I've only tried this on a developer beta (latest version) of SL briefly and noticed this behavior but would like to get feedback from those that may have upgraded.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed SL on my iMac last week and changed the icon for the applications folder on my dock - no problem. Did the same for my Macbook last night and now the applications folder on both docks keeps disappearing. I use Mobile Me to sync the docks. I've dragged the folder from Finder into the dock and it stays briefly and then disappears.
