OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Automatic Translation To Folder?

May 18, 2012

I have a folder in my User directory (Lion and SL) called Books (~/Books) and I want to know: how to create the automatic translation into Portuguese (~/Livros) or any other language?

PS: Something similar happens with the /Applications (English) folder and i see /Applicative (in Portuguese)

OS X :: Finding Turkish Translation For Leopard?

I want to get a Macbook for my grandmother who only speaks Turkish. Are there Turkish (or other language) translations for Leopard? Is there a third party program that can translate your Leopard interface into different languages?

So far, I've done research and the answer seems to be NO. How does Apple expect to mount a serious challenge to MS and speak only English?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: How To Copy The Folder Structure Without The Folder Contents

Apr 28, 2012

I would like to create an archive of important application installers and I will sync the contents between two systems MacPro and Macbook Pro.

I need to pull the names of the application/developers from somewhere so I figured I would use the Application Support directory.

So I need a way to copy this directories folder structure without any of the file contents.  Is there an easy way to do this.  I found a post with an Automator script but the link is dead [URL]

I also found this post that refers to doing it in terminal but since it is the app support directory I am wary to do this as I am not familiar with terminal at all and I am not clear on what exactly to write in the old_dir / new_dir section.  I figure it would be something like this /Library/Application Support but I dont want to make a mistake.

Here is the Terminal command:

cd old_dir
find . -type d -depth -print | cpio -pd new_dir

OS X :: No Workflows Folder In Snow Leopard?

Aug 29, 2009

I have a clean install of Snow Leopard and am trying to get some of my automator scripts working. Under Leopard, I could right-click on the desktop and select one of my workflows from the menu under Automator. Now, there is no ~/Library/Workflows folder in Snow Leopard and Automator doesn't have the Save as plugin option anymore. Does anyone know how to use automator scripts in Snow Leopard that doesn't involve opening Automator every time?

OS X :: Can't Type To Folder In Snow Leopard

Oct 22, 2009

I've had this problem since I upgraded to SL and I'm finally looking for a solution, as it's mildly annoying So anytime I'm opening up a file browser window within an app - say, to upload or save a file in Firefox, or to open a file in any old program - I used to be able to navigate to a folder on my keyboard by typing the first letter or two of the name. Now, however, when I try to do that, nothing happens except the Mac makes that dull "thud" sound. Now, if I navigate inside a folder (by pressing the right arrow key) and then go back out (press the left arrow key), then it works like a charm. But what a pain!

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Mp4 Won't Appear In Downloads Folder

Jun 15, 2012

I accidentally took my downloads folder off of my dock, and I figured out how to put it back on and use the settings I want. However, for some reason now .mp4 files won't appear in the stack or in the actual folder in Finder. They appear in the Safari downloads box, but not in the stack or folder. It's kind of frustrating, because it makes it difficult for it to find what I need.

OS X :: Exchange Folder Syncing In Snow Leopard Mail

Sep 6, 2009

Apple's new OSX Snow Leopard includes native Exchange email sync using Exchange Web Services but it seems that this does not sync emails in the same way outlook does: emails on Mail.app only update when you open a specific folder on your exchange mailbox (like IMAP does) and not like Outlook on windows where folders are updated in the background. does anyone know about this behavior and if it can be changed on Mail to work in the background? I've only tried this on a developer beta (latest version) of SL briefly and noticed this behavior but would like to get feedback from those that may have upgraded.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: How To Lock A Folder In Place On Desktop

Feb 28, 2012

On my desktop I have 1 folder that contain completed projects as well as multiple folders to manage current projects I'm working on. Occassionally I also have files on the desktop that I am working on for the day. Whenever I arrange by name (or any other criteria) the files and folders on my desktop move all around. My completed folder is now mixed in with files I'm working on and my current projects folders are all over the placed depending on what I named them. I would like a way to pin certain folders to their place on the desktop (similar to how the hard drive icon is pinned), so when I arrange the desktop files by a certain criteria these "pinned" folders would not move.
