I can't access iphoto on my MacBook Air. I went to move photos to make more room on my disk (kept getting message that disk was almost full) and it won't bring up any photos.

I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

It may be because my start up disc is full. But I can't access iPhoto to delete photos! When I try to update iPhoto (in case that's the problem) I get the following message : "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled". I don't understand this as I bought the Macbook. But either way I need to fix it.

View 14 Replies View RelatedIn iPhoto 06, in the finder, if you went to the iphoto library folder, you could select the photos in the original or modified folders. I'm using iPhoto 08 on my iMac and I can't do that anymore. For example, when I'm in Photoshop/trying to upload a photo to a webpage and I want to open a photo thats in the iPhoto Libraries Original folder, it won't go any farther than the iPhoto Library, there's no arrow so I can't get to the different folders in the Library. When I click on show file in iPhoto, it will show this location, but other than that I can't get at it. I'm running the latest version, just checked to see if there were any updates and there wasn't. I've taken screen shots to try and explain. the second one is when I try to get at it through the finder and the first one is when I click on "Show File" on a photo in iPhoto.
View 20 Replies View RelatedWhen I leave iPhoto open for extended periods (which i'd like to do most of the time) it seems to hit the HDD pretty hard, constantly, slowing some stuff (particularly time machine backups!) considerably. I'm on an '08 imac, 2.8ghz, 4GB ram, 8800GT.. Snow Leopard.. It runs fine other than that.. I do have a 42GB library, 246 of the files are movies. A lot of the photos are RAW. Anyone experienced similar? And is there some way to stop it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I installed the latest update of iPhoto 9.2.3 on my MacBook pro running 10.7.3 To my surprise I cannot access iPhoto anymore and get the error log (as hereunder) and the warning that I may have to reinstall the application. I live quite remote and have to drive 1,5 hours to the nearest Apple store and i feel that I should be able to solve this.for now I do not understand how to reinstall if all software was updated.Â

My iphoto and itunes libraries did not copy over. I put my old computer in target disk mode but i can't even open the music folder or the photo folder in the user of my old mac. When i try, it tells me that "The folder "Music" can't be opened because you don't have th permission to see its contents"...
... and so i go to info and try to change the permissions to read/write, but nothing changes...

Before I realized that I should not rename or delete anything in my Iphoto folder, I had already renamed and deleted a bunch of stuff out of it. Now I can't access any of the pics in Iphoto. Is there any way to go back and undo everything? How can I get those photos back into Iphoto?

I have reinstalled the the Application software twice but to no avail. The Themes are on the HD okay because I can see them in the 'Themes' folder. Iphoto just won't pick them up.

I have just installed Snow Leopard on my MacBook, and now all my applications have disappeared from my desktop plus I can't access to my User folder which contains everything including CS4 package. It tells me that I don't have permission to access these folders, which there is only 1 account user on this Mac. Â
Help!!! What do I do to get a permission to use my old folders from Leopard (10.5)?  And yes, I have backed up everything on my external hard drive before I installed this Snow Leopard! I am trying to change com.apple.backupd-auto.plist file, to set up TM back up interval and when I go to save it says "You do not have appropriate access privileges". I am using administrator account, also went into file info and changed permissions to read&write and still get that message. Am I missing something here or is ti something else? I used to be able to do that when used Tiger, with different files though.

I thought that we could still access our dot mac accounts on older equipment. It's too early to retire my G5 Quad, it is still my daily driver. I did succome to temptation and "moved" to iCloud on my MBP and iPhone, when I got home I discovered that Mail didn't work on my Quad. I changed the incoming settings, still no luck. I can access everything fine from another machine running Leopard. I believe this is a known issue with Snow Leopard, further hardening my belief that this is a very useless upgrade. The only real thing SL has got going for it, is the fact that it is cheap. That's why people will buy it, because its only $29.
Coming back to the topic, can someone suggest me a fix?
Also, if you want to debate the worthiness of SL as a $29 upgrade, please don't bother posting here. I don't want any smart fanboy comments either. Let's stick to the topic at hand.
